1. Book of Faith (2/6)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah taught me, saying, "Guard the five daily prayers." I said, "These are times when I am occupied, so tell me something comprehensive that I can practice and it will suffice for me." He said, "Guard the two prayers of Asr." I asked, "What are the two Asrs?" He said, "The prayer before the rising of the sun and the prayer before its setting." Abu Harb ibn Abi al-Aswad al-Dilili, one of my senior Tabi'een (followers of the Companions), a man whose hearing of narrations from Fadalah ibn 'Ubayd al-Laythi is not incomplete, for Hisham ibn Bashir is a well-known memorizer, and Khalid ibn Abdullah al-Wasiti is the author of a book, and this hadith is mentioned by Muslim in his book of faith, narrated by Shu'ba from 'Uthman ibn 'Abdullah ibn Muhab and after him from Muhammad ibn 'Uthman from his father." And Khulaf Hisham narrated it from Khalid ibn Abdullah from Abu Harb from 'Abdullah ibn Fadalah from his father. The Messenger of Allah taught me.
[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "Indeed, Islam has a light and a beacon, similar to the light of a road."
[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "Islam is to worship Allah alone, without associating any partners with Him, and to establish the prayer, give the obligatory charity (Zakat), observe fasting during Ramadan, perform Hajj to the House (Kaaba), enjoin good and forbid evil, and greet your family with peace. Whoever neglects any of these obligations has forfeited a portion of Islam and whoever abandons them all has turned his back on Islam." This hadith is like the previous one in terms of its importance. Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in his summary.
[Machine] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Shall I not teach you, or shall I not guide you to a word from beneath the Throne, from the treasures of Paradise?' You say: 'There is no power or might except with Allah.' So Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, says: 'My slave has submitted and surrendered.'"
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If two men enter Islam and then one of them commits a sin, he will remain outside of Islam until the oppressor repents."
The Prophet ﷺ said: When a man commits fornication, faith departs from him and there is something like a canvas roof over his head; and when he quits that action, faith returns to him. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4690)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever commits adultery and drinks alcohol, Allah will remove faith from him, just as a person removes a shirt from his head." Muslim relied on the testimony of Abdullah bin Al-Walid and Abdullah bin Hajirah, who are both Shami.
[Machine] The Prophet said, "Modesty and faith are closely connected. If one is lifted, the other is also lifted."
[Machine] The translation of the given Arabic phrase is:
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Verily, the believer is kind and there is no goodness in one who is not kind and is not shown kindness.'"
The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: "Whoever comes worshipping Allah and not associating anything with Him, establishing Salah, paying Zakah and avoiding major sins, Paradise will be his." They asked him about major sins and he said: "Associating others with Allah, killing a Muslim soul, and fleeing (from the battlefield) on the day of the march." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4009)
[Machine] "When he visited the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said, 'O Messenger of Allah, what actions lead to Paradise?' He (the Prophet) replied, 'You should excel in good speech and generosity in giving food.'"
[Machine] He came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the Prophet ﷺ heard them referring to him as "Abu al-Hakam" (the father of wisdom). The Prophet ﷺ said, "Indeed, Allah is the Wisest. Why do you call him 'Abu al-Hakam'?" They replied, "Whenever my people have a dispute, I judge between them, and both parties are satisfied with my judgment." The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Do you have children?" He replied, "Shurayh, Abdullah, Musli, sons of Hanif." The Prophet ﷺ then asked, "Who among them is the oldest?" He replied, "Shurayh." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Then you are Abu Shurayh," and he prayed for him and his children. "I have mentioned in the book of knowledge in the mention of the Makhzumites, Shurayh bin Hanif, who lived in the Jahiliyyah era and embraced Islam, but did not see the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He belonged to the generation that followed." Al-Dhahabi remained silent about him in his summary.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ read the verse "Indeed, Allah is Hearing and Seeing" [Quran 4:58], then he placed his finger of supplication on his eyes and his thumbs on his ears.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "No trial has occurred and will occur until the Hour is established that is greater than the trial of the Dajjal (false messiah). And there is no prophet except that he has warned his people. And I am informing you about something that no prophet before me had informed about." Then he placed his hand on his eye and said, "I bear witness that Allah, the Most High, is not one-eyed." This hadith is narrated by Zuhayr and Mu'awiyah from Zaid.
[Machine] I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while I was wearing a piece of clothing. He said, "Do you have any wealth?" I said, "Yes." He asked, "What kind of wealth?" I replied, "I have camels, horses, slaves, and sheep." He said, "When Allah gives you wealth, let it be evident on you." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ also said, "Do the camels of your people produce sound ears? If so, purposely inflict a cut on their ears and say that it is a defect. Or tear their skin and say that it is haram (forbidden), so it becomes forbidden for you and your family." I said, "Yes." He said, "Whatever Allah gives you is permissible for you, and the assistance of Allah is greater than your own assistance. And Musa (Moses) was the strongest of all who aided their people."
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said about this verse, 'So when his Lord manifested His glory to the mountain, He made it (the mountain) crumble to pieces'" [Surah Al-A'raf 143]. 'From this appeared the greatness (of Allah)' on the condition of being a Muslim."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ read, "He said, 'My Lord, show me [Yourself] that I may look at You.' [Allah] said, 'You will not see Me, but look at the mountain; if it should remain in place, then you will see Me.' But when his Lord appeared to the mountain, He rendered it level, and Moses fell unconscious." The mountain crumbled after that.
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'There are three types of people whom Allah loves and to whom He smiles: a person who, when a group of people disperses, fights alone for the sake of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, and another person who, when a group of people follows him, fights along with them for the sake of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic.'"
[Machine] It was narrated from the Prophet ﷺ that he said, "Whoever has an atom's weight of arrogance in his heart will not enter Paradise." A man said, "O Messenger of Allah, I like for my clothes to be nice, my head to be neat, and my sandals to be new." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Verily, Allah is Beautiful and He loves beauty. Arrogance means rejecting the truth and looking down on people."
[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, is it arrogance to wear nice clothes?" He replied, "Indeed, Allah is beautiful and He loves beauty."
[Machine] "That the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: Allah called upon Gabriel and sent him to the paradise, and he said: Look at it and what I have prepared in it for its people. Gabriel said: By Your Honor, no one hears of it except that he enters it. It is surrounded by detestable things." So He said: Return to it and look at it. So he returned and said: By Your Honor, I feared that no one would enter it."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: When Allah created Paradise, He said to Gabriel: Go and look at it. He went and looked at it, then came and said: O my Lord! By Thy might, no one who hears of it will fail to enter it. He then surrounded it with disagreeable things, and said: Go and look at it, Gabriel. He went and looked at it, then came and said: O my Lord! By Thy might, I am afraid that no one will enter it. When Allah created Hell, He said: Go and look at it, Gabriel. He went and looked at it, then came and said: O my Lord! By Thy might, no one who hears of it will enter it. He then surrounded it with desirable things and said: Go and look at it, Gabriel. He went, looked at it, then came and said: O my Lord! By Thy might and power, I am afraid that no one will remain who does not enter it. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4744)

[Machine] Narrated to us Al-Qa'nabi in what was recited from Malik, from Zaid ibn Abi Unaysah, from Abdul-Hameed ibn Abdul-Rahman ibn Zaid ibn Al-Khattab, from Muslim ibn Yasir Al-Juhani, that Umar ibn Al-Khattab was asked about this verse: "And when your Lord took from the children of Adam - from their loins - their descendants" [Al-A'raf 172]. Umar ibn Al-Khattab said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ being asked about it, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Indeed, Allah created Adam and then wiped his back with His right hand, and extracted from him his offspring. Allah said, "I created these for Paradise and they will perform the deeds of the people of Paradise." Then, He wiped his back and extracted from him his offspring. Allah said, "I created these for the Hellfire and they will perform the deeds of the people of the Hellfire."

[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ, Allah took a covenant from the back of Adam and extracted from his loins his offspring and dispersed them, face to face, before Him, like small particles, then He spoke to them and said, "Am I not your Lord?" They replied, "Indeed, we bear witness." [This] testifies lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection, "Verily, we have been unaware of this." Or lest you should say, "It was only our fathers aforetime who took others as partners in worship along with Allah, and we were (merely their) descendants after them; will You then destroy us because of the deeds of men who practised Al-Batil (i.e. polytheism and committing crimes and sins, invoking and worshipping others besides Allah)?"

"We were with the Prophet ﷺ on a journey when some of his Companions fell behind. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his voice reciting these two Ayat: "O mankind! Have Taqwa of your Lord! Verily the earthquake of the hour is a terrible thing..." up to His saying: but Allah's torment is severe (21:1 & 2)." When his Companions heard that, they hastened to catch up with him, since they knew that he had something to say. He ﷺ said: 'Do you know what Day this is? That is the Day when Adam will be called. His Lord will call him and say: O Adam, send forth those who are to be sent to the Fire. He will say: O Lord! How many are to be sent to the Fire? He will say: From every one-thousand there are nine-hundred and ninety-nine for the Fire and one for Paradise. So the people despaired as if they would not smile again. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw the state of his Companions, he said: 'Strive hard and receive the good news. By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad, you will be counted with two creations who are immense in numbers; Ya'juj and Ma'juj, and those who have died among the progeny of Adam and the progeny of Iblis.'" He said: "So some of the people's grief went away, and he ﷺ said: 'Strive hard and receive the good news. By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad! Among mankind, you are but like the mole on the flank of a camel, or a mark on the foreleg of a beast.'" (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3169)

[Machine] Al-Awza'i praised and the wording of this hadith is from Abu al-Abbas who said: Rabia bin Yazid and Yahya bin Abi 'Amr al-Saybani narrated to me, they said: 'Abdullah bin Firoz al-Daylami narrated to me, he said: I entered upon Abdullah bin 'Amr bin al-'As while he was in a wall in Taif called al-Wahat and he was lecturing a young man from the Quraysh. And this young man would indulge in drinking wine.
So I said to Abdullah bin 'Amr bin al-'As, "Tell me something about you that I can narrate from you about the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said, "Whoever drinks wine, his repentance will not be accepted for forty mornings." The young man clenched his hand with the hand of Abdullah, then he turned away. Abdullah said: "Indeed, a miserable person is the one who is miserable in his mother's womb. And whoever leaves his house intending only to pray in al-Masjid al-Haram, he will come out of his sin like the day his mother gave birth to him."
Abdullah bin 'Amr bin al-'As said: "O Allah! I will not permit anyone to attribute to me what I did not say. Indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'Whoever drinks wine, his repentance will not be accepted for forty mornings. But if he repents, Allah will accept his repentance. But if he returns to it, his repentance will not be accepted for forty mornings.' I do not remember if it was on the third or fourth time that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Then it is a right upon Allah to make him drink from the mud of the Kohl on the Day of Resurrection.'"
He said: "I also heard the Prophet ﷺ say: 'Indeed, Allah created His creation in darkness and then He cast upon them some of His light. So whoever receives some of that light on that day, then he has been guided. And whoever is misguided, then it is because of that.' So I say: The pen has dried upon the knowledge of Allah."
And I also heard the Prophet ﷺ say: 'Indeed, Sulaiman bin Dawud asked his Lord three times, so He gave him two and we hope that He gave him the third. He asked Him for a judgment that aligns with his judgment, so He gave it to him. And he asked Him for a kingdom that none after him should have, so He gave it to him. And he asked Him that whenever a man leaves his house and intends only to pray in this mosque, he should come out of his sin like the day his mother gave birth to him. We hope that Allah has given him that.' Al-Awza'i said: Rabia bin Yazid narrated this hadith to me between al-Miqsilat and al-Jasa'ir.

The two Sheikhs (referring to Muslim and Bukhari) have provided evidence for this hadith from their narrators, except for Yusuf ibn Abi Burdah. [Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ, Abu Hudhayfah Musa ibn Masood al-Nahdi, though al-Bukhari disputed this. However, al-Bukhari often jumps to conclusions and his judgments cannot be derived from Abu Asim al-Nabeel and Muhammad ibn Kathir and their contemporaries. An error is required if it contradicts them, and the evidence for what I have mentioned is the continuation of Jarir ibn Abdul Hamid al-Thawri's narration from Mansour from Rabi'i from Ali. Jarir is one of the most knowledgeable people in narrating from Mansour.

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The affair of this Ummah will continue to be successful or near success, as long as they do not discuss children and fate."
God only gives faith to the one He loves
the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah has divided between you your characters just as he has divided between you your provisions. Allah gives worldly ˹provisions˺ to the one He loves and to the one whom He does not love, but He does not faith except to the one He loves."
[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "Indeed, Allah has divided your manners as He has divided your provisions. And indeed, Allah gives wealth to those He loves and those He does not love. And He does not give faith except to those He loves. And when Allah loves a servant, He gives him faith. As for the narrator who is not mentioned in this book, he is Abd al-Aziz ibn Aban, and his hadith is known with it. It is authenticated by two narrators of Isa ibn Yunus, then by a narrator of al-Thawri from Zubaid, and he is Hamzah al-Zayyat." This was narrated by Abd al-Aziz ibn Aban, and it is not a condition of our book concerning al-Thawri.
[Machine] I heard Kurz bin 'Alqamah saying, "A man asked the Prophet ﷺ, 'O Messenger of Allah, does Islam have a limit?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, 'Yes, whoever from the Arab or non-Arab people who Allah intends good for, He will enter Islam upon them. Then, the trials will occur like the darknesses.'" Muhammad bin Rashid and Yunus bin Yazid narrated this from Az-Zuhri, but they did not mention it to be solely narrated by 'Urwah while he was a companion.

[Machine] Abu Ali Al-Janbi informed him that he heard Fadalah bin Ubaid telling that he heard the Prophet ﷺ saying: "Blessed is the one who is guided to Islam and his livelihood is sufficient and content."
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from disbelief, poverty, and the punishment of the grave."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O people, I am only a bestowed mercy."
