[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, and Abu Muhammad Abdullah ibn Yahya ibn Abd al-Jabbar al-Sukkari reported from Baghdad, and Ismail ibn Muhammad al-Saffar reported, narrated by Abbas ibn Abdullah al-Tarqufi, who narrated from Abu Abdul Rahman, who narrated from Haywah, who said: I heard Abu al-Aswad Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Nawfal say that Abu Huraira reported, saying: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Whoever hears a man reciting poetry in the mosque should say, "May Allah not reward you for it. Mosques were not built for this." This is the wording of the Hadith of Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Muqri, and in the Hadith of Ibn Wahb, it is mentioned, "May Allah not respond to you, for mosques were not built for this."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ (ح) وَأنبأ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ السُّكَّرِيُّ بِبَغْدَادَ وَأنبأ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّفَّارُ ثنا عَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ التَّرْقُفِيُّ ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ثنا حَيْوَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْأَسْوَدِ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ يَقُولُ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ سَمِعَ رَجُلًا يَنْشُدُ ضَالَّةً فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَلْيَقُلْ لَا أَدَّاهَا اللهُ إِلَيْكَ إِنَّ الْمَسَاجِدَ لَمْ تُبْنَ لِهَذَا لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمُقْرِئِ وَفِي حَدِيثِ ابْنِ وَهْبٍ لَا رَدَّهَا اللهُ عَلَيْكَ فَإِنَّ الْمَسَاجِدَ لَمْ تُبْنَ لِهَذَا
