Mutayr said: I heard a man say: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the Farewell Pilgrimage. He was commanding and prohibiting them (the people). He said: O Allah, did I give full information? They said: Yes. He said: When the Quraysh quarrel about the rule among themselves, and the presents become bribery, them leave them. The people were asked: Who was he (who narrated this tradition)? They said: This was Dhul-Zawa'id, a Companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2959)   

البيهقي:١٣٠٤٢ – وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ أنا مُحَمَّدٌ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ثنا سُلَيْمُ بْنُ مُطَيْرٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ وَادِي الْقُرَى عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَهُمْ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا يَقُولُ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي حِجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ أَمَرَ النَّاسَ وَنَهَاهُمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ اللهُمَّ هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟ قَالُوا اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِذَا تَجَاحَفَتْ قُرَيْشٌ عَلَى الْمُلْكِ فِيمَا بَيْنَهَا وَعَادَ الْعَطَاءُ رِشَاءً فَدَعُوهُ فَقِيلَ مَنْ هَذَا؟ قَالُوا هَذَا ذُو الزَّوَائِدِ صَاحِبُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ

أبو داود:٢٩٥٩ – حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمُ بْنُ مُطَيْرٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ وَادِي الْقُرَى عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَجُلاً يَقُولُ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ فَأَمَرَ النَّاسَ وَنَهَاهُمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ قَالُوا اللَّهُمَّ نَعَمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِذَا تَجَاحَفَتْ قُرَيْشٌ عَلَى الْمُلْكِ فِيمَا بَيْنَهَا وَعَادَ الْعَطَاءُ أَوْ كَانَ رُشًا فَدَعُوهُ فَقِيلَ مَنْ هَذَا قَالُوا هَذَا ذُو الزَّوَائِدِ صَاحِبُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the year of the Farewell Pilgrimage commanding the people and prohibiting them. Then he said, "Have I conveyed the message?" They said, "O Allah, yes." He said, "O Allah, bear witness." Then he said, "Take the rights as long as they are just. But when the Quraysh begin to compete for leadership and the rights become bribes for your religion, then leave it."  

الطبراني:٤٢٣٩ – حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ النَّحْوِيُّ الصُّورِيُّ ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ثنا سُلَيْمُ بْنُ مَطِيرٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ وَادِي الْقُرَى عَنْ أَبِيهِ سَمِعْتُ ذَا الزَّوَائِدِ يَقُولُ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَامَ حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ أَمَرَ النَّاسَ وَنَهَاهُمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ «هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟» قَالُوا اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ اشْهَدْ» ثُمَّ قَالَ «خُذُوا الْعَطَاءَ مَا دَامَ غَضًّا فَإِذَا تَجَاحَفَتْ قُرَيْشٌ بَيْنَهَا الْمُلْكُ وَصَارَ الْعَطَاءُ رِشَاءً عَنْ دِينِكُمْ فَدَعُوهُ»
