[Machine] About al-Thawri, it is reported that he said something which is doubtful.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "If a fish floats on the water, do not eat it. And if the sea recedes from it, then eat it. And whatever is found on its banks, eat it." Sulayman said, "This hadith was not narrated by Sufyan except by Abu Ahmad."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whatever is thrown up by the sea or brought by the tide, eat it. But what dies in it and floats, do not eat it." Abu Dawood said that Sufyan Ath-Thawri, Ayyub, and Hammad narrated this hadith from Abu Az-Zubair and attributed it to Jabir. Al-Shaykh (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Yahyaa ibn Sulaym Ath-Tha'ifi is a man who often misunderstands and has a poor memory, and this hadith is also attributed to a weak narrator, Ibn Abi Dhib, from Abu Az-Zubair through Jabir from the Prophet ﷺ .
