60. Hunting
Abdullah b. al-Mughaffal saw a person from amongst his companions throwing small pebbles, whereupon he said: Don't throw pebbles for Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not like it, or he forbade flinging of pebbles since neither the game is taken thereby, nor an enemy defeated. but it may break a tooth or put out an eye. He, afterwards, again saw him flinging pebbles, and said to him: I inform you that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not approve or he forbade flinging of pebbles, but if I see you again flinging pebbles. I will not speak with you. (Using translation from Muslim 1954a)
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited throwing stones and said: "It should not be used for hunting or injuring anyone. Indeed, throwing stones can break teeth and damage the eye." This hadith has been narrated authentically by Shu'bah, and this wording clearly explains what we intended.
[Machine] I arrived in the city and went out on a holiday. Suddenly, I saw a man wearing a mantle, looking like he was riding even though he was walking with the people. He was saying, "Emigrate and do not abandon emigration, and be cautious of the rabbit that one of you may hit with a stick, but remember the spear, the arrows, and the nobility." Abu 'Ubaid said, "When he says 'emigrate and do not abandon emigration,' he means to have sincerity in emigration and not to resemble the emigrants without intention from you, for this is al-tahajjur." He said, "And the words of the Arabs 'asr' and 'aysar' mean working with both hands equally."
[Machine] He used to say about the murdered one with a shotgun, that incited one.
