ahmad:20395 – Ismāʿīl > Yaḥyá b. Abū Isḥāq > ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Abū Bakarah

[Machine] Abu Bakr prohibited us, the Messenger of Allah, from buying silver with silver and gold with gold, except like for like. And he ordered us to buy silver with gold and gold with silver in whatever way we wished. Thabit ibn Ubaid asked him, "Hand in hand?" He said, "That's how I heard it."  

أحمد:٢٠٣٩٥ – حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكَرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ

أَبُو بَكَرَةَ نَهَانَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ نَبْتَاعَ الْفِضَّةَ بِالْفِضَّةِ وَالذَّهَبَ بِالذَّهَبِ إِلَّا سَوَاءً بِسَوَاءٍ وَأَمَرَنَا أَنْ نَبْتَاعَ الْفِضَّةَ فِي الذَّهَبِ وَالذَّهَبَ فِي الْفِضَّةِ كَيْفَ شِئْنَا فَقَالَ لَهُ ثَابِتُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ يَدًا بِيَدٍ؟ قَالَ هَكَذَا سَمِعْتُ

that his father said, "The Prophet ﷺ forbade the selling of gold for gold and silver for silver except if they are equivalent in weight, and allowed us to sell gold for silver and vice versa as we wished."

مسلم:١٥٩٠a – حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الْعَتَكِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ الْعَوَّامِ أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْفِضَّةِ بِالْفِضَّةِ وَالذَّهَبِ بِالذَّهَبِ إِلاَّ سَوَاءً بِسَوَاءٍ وَأَمَرَنَا أَنْ نَشْتَرِيَ الْفِضَّةَ بِالذَّهَبِ كَيْفَ شِئْنَا وَنَشْتَرِيَ الذَّهَبَ بِالْفِضَّةِ كَيْفَ شِئْنَا قَالَ فَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَدًا بِيَدٍ فَقَالَ هَكَذَا سَمِعْتُ  

nasai:4578 – ʿAbbād b. al-ʿAwwām > Yaḥyá b. Abū Isḥāq > ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Abū Bakrah from his father

"The Messenger of Allah forbade selling silver for silver and gold for gold, unless it was of equal amounts. And he told us to sell gold for silver however we wanted, and silver for gold however we wanted.  

النسائي:٤٥٧٨ – وَفِيمَا قَرَأَ عَلَيْنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ الْعَوَّامِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ بَيْعِ الْفِضَّةِ بِالْفِضَّةِ وَالذَّهَبِ بِالذَّهَبِ إِلاَّ سَوَاءً بِسَوَاءٍ وَأَمَرَنَا أَنْ نَبْتَاعَ الذَّهَبَ بِالْفِضَّةِ كَيْفَ شِئْنَا وَالْفِضَّةَ بِالذَّهَبِ كَيْفَ شِئْنَا  

ahmad:20496 – Ismāʿīl > Yaḥyá b. Abū Isḥāq > ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Abū Bakarah

[Machine] Abu Bakrah narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited us from trading silver with silver and gold with gold, except equally. And he commanded us to trade silver with gold and gold with silver as we wish. So Thabit ibn Abdullah asked him, "Hand in hand?" He replied, "Yes, that is how I heard it."

ذِكْرُ الزَّجْرِ عَنْ بَيْعِ الْفِضَّةِ بِالْفِضَّةِ، وَالذَّهَبِ بِالذَّهَبِ، إِلَّا مِثْلًا بِمِثْلٍ

ibnhibban:5014 – al-Faḍl b. al-Ḥubāb > Musaddad > Ismāʿīl > Yaḥyá b. Abū Isḥāq > ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Abū Bakrah

"The Messenger of Allah forbade selling silver for silver and gold for gold, unless it was of equal amounts. And he told us to sell gold for silver however we wanted, and silver for gold however we wanted. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4578)   

ابن حبّان:٥٠١٤ – أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ

أَبُو بَكْرَةَ «نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَبْتَاعَ الْفِضَّةَ بِالْفِضَّةِ وَالذَّهَبَ بِالذَّهَبِ إِلَّا سَوَاءً بِسَوَاءٍ وَأَمَرَ أَنْ يَبْتَاعَ الْفِضَّةَ بِالذَّهَبِ كَيْفَ شَاءَ وَالذَّهَبَ بِالْفِضَّةِ كَيْفَ شَاءَ»
