Once on a very cold and stormy night, Ibn ʿUmar pronounced the Adhan for the prayer and then said, "Pray in your homes." He (Ibn ʿUmar) added. "On very cold and rainy nights Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to order the Mu'adh-dhin to say, 'Pray in your homes.' "

إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَأْمُرُ الْمُؤَذِّنَ إِذَا كَانَتْ لَيْلَةٌ ذَاتُ بَرْدٍ وَمَطَرٍ يَقُولُ أَلاَ صَلُّوا فِي الرِّحَالِ

The rain was falling on the day when the Battle of Hunayn took place. The Prophet ﷺ, therefore, commanded that the people should offer their prayer in their camps.

أَنَّ يَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ كَانَ يَوْمَ مَطَرٍ فَأَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مُنَادِيَهُ أَنِ الصَّلاَةُ فِي الرِّحَالِ

Ibn ‘Umar stayed at Dajnan (a place between Mecca and Medina) on a cold night. He commanded an announcer (to announce). He announced that the people should offer prayer in their dwellings. Ayyub said: Nafi narrated on the authority of Ibn ‘Umar that whenever there was a cold or a rainy day night, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded the announcer (to announce). He announced to offer prayer in the dwellings.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا كَانَتْ لَيْلَةٌ بَارِدَةٌ أَوْ مَطِيرَةٌ أَمَرَ الْمُنَادِيَ فَنَادَى الصَّلاَةُ فِي الرِّحَالِ

Ibn ‘Umar made the call to prayer on a cold and windy night. He then said: “Lo! Pray in the dwellings. “Afterwards he said: Whenever there was a cold or rainy day night, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to command the mu’adhdin to announce: “Lo! Pray in the dwellings.”

إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَأْمُرُ الْمُؤَذِّنَ إِذَا كَانَتْ لَيْلَةٌ بَارِدَةٌ أَوْ ذَاتُ مَطَرٍ يَقُولُ أَلاَ صَلُّوا فِي الرِّحَالِ

"We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Hunain and it rained. The caller of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called out, telling us: 'Pray where you are."'

كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِحُنَيْنٍ فَأَصَابَنَا مَطَرٌ فَنَادَى مُنَادِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ صَلُّوا فِي رِحَالِكُمْ

[AI] He ordered a caller who called out on a rainy day to pray in their tents.

أَمَرَ مُنَادِيًا فَنَادَى فِي يَوْمٍ مَطِيرٍ أَنْ صَلُّوا فِي رِحَالِكُمْ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said on the day of Hunayn, on a rainy day, prayer in the tents.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ يَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ فِي يَوْمٍ مَطِيرٍ الصَّلَاةُ فِي الرِّحَالِ

أَنَّهُ شَهِدَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بِحُنَيْنٍ فِي يَوْمٍ مَطِيرٍ أَمَرَ مُنَادِيَهُ فَنَادِى إِنَّ الصَّلَاةَ فِي الرِّحَالِ

[AI] That the Prophet ﷺ commanded his caller on the day of Hunayn in a rainy day to announce the prayer in the camp.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَمَرَ مُنَادِيَهُ يَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ فِي يَوْمٍ مَطِيرٍ فَنَادَى الصَّلَاةُ فِي الرِّحَالِ

[AI] We were hit by a rain in Hunayn, then a caller called out the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "Pray while on the mounts."

أَصَابَنَا مَطَرٍ بِحُنَيْنٍ فَنَادَى مُنَادِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَنْ صَلُّوا فِي الرِّحَالِ»

[AI] We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a rainy day when he commanded a caller to announce, "Prayer is to be performed in travel."

كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي يَوْمٍ مَطِيرٍ فَأَمَرَ مُنَادِيًا فَنَادَى «إِنَّ الصَّلَاةَ فِي الرِّحَالِ»

[AI] I witnessed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a rainy day, on a Friday. He commanded a caller who called out, "Pray in your garments."

شَهِدْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي يَوْمٍ مَطِيرٍ يَوْمَ جُمُعَةٍ أَمَرَ مُنَادِيًا فَنَادَى «أَنْ صَلُّوا فِي رِحَالِكُمْ»

[AI] That the Prophet ﷺ ordered his caller on a cold night to announce "Prayer in the camp."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَمَرَ مُنَادِيَهُ فِي لَيْلَةٍ بَارِدَةٍ أَنْ يُنَادِيَ «الصَّلَاةُ فِي الرِّحَالِ»

[AI] The sky poured down on us while we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he called out, "Pray in the saddlebags."

أَصَابَتْنَا السَّمَاءُ وَنَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَنَادَى «الصَّلَاةُ فِي الرِّحَالِ»

[AI] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded Bilal on a windy and rainy night to call for prayer in the tents.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «أَمَرَ بِلَالًا فِي لَيْلَةِ رِيحٍ وَمَطَرٍ فَنَادَى أَنْ صَلُّوا فِي الرِّحَالِ»

[AI] He said on a rainy day, "Pray while traveling." Then he said, "Are you surprised? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has done it, who is better than us."

أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي يَوْمٍ مَطِيرٍ «الصَّلَاةَ فِي الرِّحَالِ» ثُمَّ قَالَ أَتَعْجَبُونَ؟ «قَدْ فَعَلَهُ مَنْ هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِنَّا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered a caller who called out on a rainy day, "Pray in your tents."

أَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مُنَادِيًا فَنَادَى فِي يَوْمٍ مَطِيرٍ «صَلُّوا فِي رِحَالِكُمْ»

Nafi' reported: Ibn Umar made the call to prayer at Dajnan (a place between Mecca and Medina). Then he announced: "Offer prayer in your dwellings:" He then narrated a tradition from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He used to command an announcer who made the call to prayer. He then announced: "Pray in your dwellings" on a cold or rainy night during journey. Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been narrated by Hammad b. Salamah from Ayyub and 'Ubaid Allah. In his version he added: During journey on a cold or a rainy night. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1061)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَأْمُرُ الْمُنَادِي فَيُنَادِي بِالصَّلَاةِ ثُمَّ يُنَادِي فِي إِثْرِهَا أَنْ صَلُّوا فِي رِحَالِكُمْ فِي اللَّيْلَةِ الْبَارِدَةِ أَوِ اللَّيْلَةِ الْمَطِيرَةِ

"كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ الله ﷺ فِى سَفَر فِى يَوْم مَطَرٍ، قِيلَ: مُرْ مُنَادِبًا فَنَادَى: الصَّلاَةُ فِى الرِّحالِ".

"أصَابَنَا مَطَرٌ يَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ فَأَمَرَّ النبِيُّ ﷺ مُنَادِيًا فَنَادَى: الصَّلاَةُ فِى الرِّحَالِ".
