He greeted by saying "As-Salamu Alayka" (peace be upon you), to which the Prophet ﷺ replied "Wa Alayka" (and upon you). Then another Jewish man entered and greeted in the same way, and the Prophet ﷺ responded in the same manner. A third Jewish man entered and greeted with "As-Salamu Alayka", and the Prophet ﷺ replied in the same way. Then the third man said, "As-Samu Alaykum" (may death be upon you), upon which I said, "Rather, 'As-Samu Alaykum' and may the anger of Allah be upon you. How dare you greet the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a manner that Allah did not greet him with?" The man looked at me and said, "Indeed, Allah does not like obscenity or vulgarity." Then they left and we did not suffer any harm. They will continue to bear this until the Day of Resurrection. They do not envy us for anything as they envy us for the day of Friday, which Allah has guided us to while they have gone astray from it, and for the direction of prayer which Allah has instructed us to face while they have deviated from it, and for our saying 'Ameen' behind the Imam.
