[Machine] About Al-Qasim, Sa'id ibn Jubayr used to cry until he became red-eyed.
[Machine] About Al-Qasim, Sa'id ibn Jubayr used to cry until he became red-eyed.
[Machine] He used to complete the recitation of the Quran every two nights.
[Machine] I went out with Sa'id ibn Jubayr during the past days of Rajab and performed 'Umrah from Kufa. Then he returned from his 'Umrah and performed Hajj in the middle of Dhu al-Qa'dah. He used to perform 'Umrah once a year and perform Hajj once a year.
[Machine] Said bin Jubair entered the Kaaba and recited the Quran in one unit of prayer.
[Machine] I heard Sa'id ibn Jubair reciting this verse in prayer twenty-five times. {And fear a Day when you will be returned to Allah. Then every soul will be compensated for what it earned, and they will not be treated unjustly.} [Al-Baqarah 281]
[Machine] In His saying, "And do not incline toward those who have wronged" [Hud 113], He said, "Do not approve of their deeds."
[Machine] Said Sa'id ibn Jubayr, "The world is a collection of the hereafter."
"The swearing of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was: 'No, and I ask Allah for forgiveness."' (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2093)
[Machine] He used to say, "How good is Allah's treatment towards me. He takes one thing from me and leaves me with three. And his leg was severed from a bite that came out of his knee. He would say, "And your right hand, if you were tested, you would have been healed, and because you took, you were left.”
[Machine] "If one of you dedicates something to Allah, let him not withhold anything that he feels ashamed to offer to His Noble Being, for verily Allah is the Most Generous of the generous and the most deserving of those chosen for dedication."
[Machine] "Did you have a need to your Lord? I surely ask Allah in my prayer until I ask Him for salt."
[Machine] "My father fasted for forty or thirty years and did not break his fast except on the days of Eid al-Fitr or Eid al-Adha. He passed away while still fasting."
[Machine] "Blessed is the one who humbles themselves before God, without any pride, and shows mercy towards the oppressed and the needy. They give charity from wealth earned without sin, and sit with people of knowledge, patience, and wisdom. They adhere to the teachings of the Sunnah and do not go beyond it into innovation."
[Machine] The aid to good manners is asceticism in the world, and the closest thing to it being abandoned is following one's desires. And among following one's desires is the desire for worldly things, and among the desire for worldly things is the love of wealth and honor. And from the love of wealth and honor is the indulgence in prohibited acts, and the anger of Allah is the incurable disease for which there is no cure except the pleasure of Allah. And the pleasure of Allah does not bring harm with it a disease. So whoever desires to please his Lord displeases himself, and whoever does not displease himself does not please his Lord. And if a person hates anything from his religion, he is about to abandon it until he has nothing left of his religion.
[Machine] I heard Wahb saying, "A caller without action is like an archer without a bowstring."
[Machine] I heard Wahb ibn Munabbih saying, "Indeed, knowledge has dominance like the dominance of wealth."
[Machine] The entry of camels into the eye of a needle is easier than the entry of the rich into heaven.
[Machine] That he is below him, the elder is safe from him and goodness is hoped from him. He follows the path of those before him and he is a leader for those after him, until humiliation becomes dearer to him than honor, and poverty becomes dearer to him than wealth, and he has more leisure from his work and less of others' work, and his sustenance is sufficient for him without seeking assistance, and poverty in lawful matters becomes dearer to him than wealth in unlawful matters, and poverty in obedience to Allah becomes dearer to him than wealth in disobedience to Allah. He said: "Then the tenth thing is what is the tenth thing? By it, his glory thrives and his remembrance becomes exalted, that he leaves his home and no one among the people faces him except he sees that he is below him."
[Machine] That a man invites his brother and he does not answer him, and he swears by his life and does not honor him, and he brings him food and he says it is not good, and the one who praises Allah for food has already expressed his gratitude.
[Machine] About my wife, while she was pregnant, the one inside her came to me, and his face had already appeared. Wahb said to him, "Indeed, those before you, when one of them was afflicted with calamity, they considered it ease, and when they were afflicted with ease, they considered it calamity."
[Machine] I heard Wahb say, "There is nothing among the sons of Adam that Satan loves more than the sleeping person."
[Machine] "Indeed, hardship is for the believer similar to the saddle for the camel."
[Machine] "So she [understood and] heard the whispering of the fire, and its anger and its roaring. The mountains cried out like women screaming, and then its [the fire's] front returned to its back, each part hitting another."
[Machine] I heard Wahb ibn Munabbih say, "Abandoning rewards is from indulging."
[Machine] "Whoever worships increases in strength, and whoever is lazy increases in duration."
[Machine] And he entered and complained to him about the severity he encountered from the oppressors and their expulsion of him. He (the person being complained to) said, Wahb ibn Munabbih, indeed the friends of Allah, when they are tested with hardship, they have hope, and when they are given ease, they fear.
[Machine] Hold on to three things from me: staying away from following one's desires, having a bad companion, and being impressed with one's own opinion.
[Machine] "Do you want me to teach you a kind of medicine that doctors do not criticize, a kind of jurisprudence that scholars do not criticize, and a kind of forbearance that saints do not criticize?" They said, "Yes, O Abu Abdullah." He said, "As for the medicine that doctors do not criticize, do not eat any food unless you have mentioned the name of Allah at the beginning and praised Him at the end. As for the jurisprudence that scholars do not criticize, if you are asked about something and you have knowledge about it, then answer. Otherwise, say 'I do not know'. And as for the forbearance that saints do not criticize, speak less unless you are asked about something."
[Machine] There was a man before you who devoted himself for a long time, and then he asked Allah for a need and fasted seventy consecutive Saturdays, eating only eleven dates on each Saturday. He said, "I asked Allah for a need, but He did not grant it to me." He then reflected upon himself and said, "O soul, you have been given what you wanted from your own desire. If there was any good in you, you would have been granted your need. But there is no good in you." At that moment, an angel came down to him and said, "O son of Adam, this moment you spent in struggling with yourself is better than all the worship you have done in the past, and Allah has granted you the need you asked for."
[Machine] I heard Wahb say about his saying, "And when the seas are set ablaze" [Surah At-Takwir 6], he said, "The seas were set ablaze with fire."
