ahmad-zuhd:2172ʿAbdullāh from my father > Abū Muʿāwiyah > Hishām b. ʿUrwah from his father

[Machine] He used to say, "How good is Allah's treatment towards me. He takes one thing from me and leaves me with three. And his leg was severed from a bite that came out of his knee. He would say, "And your right hand, if you were tested, you would have been healed, and because you took, you were left.”  

الزهد لأحمد:٢١٧٢حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

كَانَ يَقُولُ مَا أَحْسَنَ صُنْعَ اللَّهِ ﷻ إِلَيَّ أَخَذَ مِنِّي وَاحِدَةً وَتَرَكَ لِي ثَلَاثَةً وَكَانَ قُطِعَ رِجْلُهُ مِنْ أَكَلَةٍ خَرَجَتْ مِنَ الرُّكْبَةِ قَالَ وَكَانَ يَقُولُ «وأيْمُنُكَ لَئِنْ كُنْتَ ابْتَلَيْتَ لَقَدْ عَافَيْتَ وَلِأَنْ أَخَذْتَ لَقَدْ أَبْقَيْتَ»
