That he was in the company of Messenger of Allah ﷺ on some of his journeys. (The sub-narrator ʿAbdullah adds, "I think that Abu Bashir also said, 'And the people were at their sleeping places.") Allah's Apostle sent a messenger ordering: "There shall not remain any necklace of string or any other kind of necklace round the necks of camels except it is cut off."  

بَشِيرٍ الأَنْصَارِيّ َ ؓ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ كَانَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي بَعْضِ أَسْفَارِهِ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَسِبْتُ أَنَّهُ قَالَ وَالنَّاسُ فِي مَبِيتِهِمْ فَأَرْسَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ رَسُولاً أَنْ لاَ يَبْقَيَنَّ فِي رَقَبَةِ بَعِيرٍ قِلاَدَةٌ مِنْ وَتَرٍ أَوْ قِلاَدَةٌ إِلاَّ قُطِعَتْ  

I think he said (these words) when the people were at the places of rest: No necklace of strings be left on the necks of the camels or the necklace kept unbroken. Imam Malik said: To my mind (this practice) of wearing necklace round the necks of camels or animals was because of the fact that they (wanted to save them) from the influence of the evil eye.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr from Abbad ibn Tamim that Abu Bashir al-Ansari told him that he was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on one of his journeys. He related, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent a messenger." (Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr said, (I think that he said it was while the people were in their resting place.) He said, "Do not let a single-string necklace, or any necklace, remain unbroken on the neck of a camel." Yahya said, "I heard Malik say, 'I think that was because of the evil eye.' ''

[Machine] Al-Qa'nabi narrated from Malik and Bakr bin Sahl narrated from Abdullah bin Yusuf that Malik narrated from Abdullah bin Abi Bakr bin Muhammad bin Amr bin Hazm, from Abbad bin Tamim, that Abu Bashir Al-Ansari informed him that he was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on one of his journeys. Abdullah bin Abi Bakr said, "I thought that the people were carrying their loads on the necks of their camels, with necklaces of semen and other necklaces, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent a messenger and said, 'Do not let any necklace remain on the neck of the camel, be it made of wool or any other material." Malik said, "I think this was because of the 'ayn (evil eye)."  

ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ أَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَزْمٍ عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ تَمِيمٍ أَنَّ أَبَا بَشِيرٍ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ كَانَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي بَعْضِ أَسْفَارِهِ قَالَ فَأَرْسَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ رَسُولًا قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ حَسِبْتُ أَنَّهُ قَالَ وَالنَّاسُ فِي مَقِيلِهِمْ «لَا تَبْقَيَنَّ فِي عُنُقِ بَعِيرٍ قِلَادَةٌ مِنْ وَبَرٍ وَلَا قِلَادَةٍ إِلَّا قُطِعَتْ» قَالَ مَالِكٌ «أَرَى أَنَّ ذَلِكَ مِنْ أَجْلِ الْعَيْنِ»
