[Machine] He was accused of practicing sorcery, and it was Abu Lu'lu'a, the servant of Al-Mughira ibn Shu'ba, who stabbed him. He was a Zoroastrian.  

الطبراني:٧٧ – حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ طَارِقٍ أنا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ

«أَنَّ عُمَرَ ؓ طُعِنَ فِي السَّحَرِ طَعَنَهُ أَبُو لُؤْلُؤَةَ غُلَامُ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ وَكَانَ مَجُوسِيًّا»
