[Machine] Yazid ibn Abu Sufyan passed away in Sham in the year eighteen. He appointed Muawiyah as his successor, and Umar approved of this.  

الطبراني:١٨٩٠٠حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنْبَاعِ رَوْحُ بْنُ الْفَرَحِ ثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ قَالَ

«تُوُفِّيَ يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ بِالشَّامِ سَنَةَ ثَمَانَ عَشْرَةَ وَكَانَ اسْتَخْلَفَ مُعَاوِيَةَ فَأَقَرَّهُ عُمَرُ»
