The Prophet ﷺ said: If anyone says in the morning or in the evening: "O Allah! Thou art my Lord; there is no god but Thee, Thou hast created me, and I am Thy servant and hold to Thy covenant and promise as much as I can; I seek refuge in Thee from the evil of what I have done: I acknowledge Thy favour to me, and I acknowledge my sin; pardon me, for none but Thee pardons sins, and dies during the daytime or during the night." he will go to Paradise. عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ سَيِّدُ الِاسْتِغْفَارِ أَنْ تَقُولَ اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ وَعَلَى عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ وَأَبُوءُ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَيَّ وَأَبُوءُ بِذَنْبِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي إِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ فَإِنْ قَالَ بَعْدَمَا يُمْسِي فَمَاتَ مِنْ لَيْلَتِهِ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ وَإِنْ قَالَهَا بَعْدَ مَا يُصْبِحُ فَمَاتَ مِنْ يَوْمِهِ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ  

“I accompanied Shaddad bin Aws [may Allah be pleased with him] on a journey, so he said: ‘Should I not teach you what the Messenger of Allah used to teach us? That you say: “O Allah, I ask You for steadfastness in the affair and I ask You for determination upon guidance, and I ask You to make me grateful for Your favor, and excellence in worshiping You, and I ask You for a truthful tongue and a sound heart, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of what You know, and I ask You for the good of what You know, and I seek Your forgiveness for that which You know. Verily, You are the Knower of all that is hidden (Allāhumma innī as’alukath-thabāta fil-amri, wa as’aluka ʿazīmatar-rushdi, wa as’aluka shukra niʿmatika, wa ḥusna ʿibādatika, wa as’aluka lisānan ṣādiqan wa qalban salīman, wa aʿūdhu bika min sharri mā taʿlamu, wa as’aluka min khairi mā taʿlamu, wa astaghfiruka mimmā taʿlamu innaka anta ʿallāmul-ghuyūb).’” He said: ‘The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “There is no Muslim who lays down to sleep while reciting a Surat from Allah’s Book, except that Allah entrusts an angel, so that nothing approaches him to harm him until he awakens, whenever he awakens.” (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3407)   

أَلَا أُعَلِّمُكُمْ مَا كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُعَلِّمُنَا «اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الثَّبَاتَ فِي الْأَمْرِ وَالْعَزِيمَةَ عَلَى الرُّشْدِ وَأَسْأَلُكَ شُكْرَ نِعْمَتِكَ وَحُسْنَ عِبَادَتِكَ وَأَسْأَلُكَ قَلْبًا سَلِيمًا وَلِسَانًا صَادِقًا وَأَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ خَيْرِ مَا تَعْلَمُ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا تَعْلَمُ وَأَسْتَغْفِرُكَ لِمَا تَعْلَمُ» قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ مُسْلِمٍ يَقْرَأُ سُورَةً مِنْ كِتَابِ اللهِ عِنْدَ نَوْمِهِ إِلَّا وَكَّلَ اللهُ بِهِ مَلَكًا لَا يَقْرَبُهُ شَيْءٌ حَتَّى يَهَبَّ مَتَى يَهَبُّ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever recites a chapter from the Quran when he lies down in his bed, an angel will be appointed to guard him until he wakes up." And I heard him saying, "I ask You for steadfastness in matters, and I ask You for the resolve to make the right decisions, and I ask You for gratitude for Your blessings, and I ask You for excellence in worship, and I ask You for a sound heart and a truthful tongue, and I seek Your forgiveness for what You know (of my sins), and I seek refuge in You from the evil of what You know."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ قَرَأَ سُورَةً مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ حِينَ يَأْخُذُ مَضْجَعَهُ وُكِّلَ بِهِ مَلَكٌ يَحْفَظُهُ حَتَّى يَهَبَّ مَتَى يَهَبُّ» وَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ «أَسْأَلُكَ الثَّبَاتَ فِي الْأَمْرِ وَأَسْأَلُكَ عَزِيمَةَ الرُّشْدِ وَأَسْأَلُكَ شُكْرَ نِعْمَتِكَ وَأَسْأَلُكَ حُسْنَ عِبَادَتِكَ وَأَسْأَلُكَ قَلْبًا سَلِيمًا وَلِسَانًا صَادِقًا وَأَسْتَغْفِرُكَ لِمَا تَعْلَمُ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا تَعْلَمُ»  

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say in his prayer: "Allahumma inni as'aluka at-thabbuta fi al-amr wal-'azimata 'alar-rushdi wa as'aluka shukr ni'matik wa husna 'ibadatik wa as'aluka qalban saliman wa lisanan sadiqan wa as'aluka min khairi ma at'lamu wa author bika min sharri ma at'lamu wastaghfiruka lima ta'lam (O Allah, I ask You for steadfastness in all my affairs and determination in following the right path, I ask You to make me thankful for Your blessings and to make me worship You properly. I ask You for a sound heart and a truthful tongue. I ask You for the best of what You know and I seek refuge in You from the worst of what You know and I seek Your forgiveness for what You know.)" أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَقُولُ فِي صَلَاتِهِ «اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الثَّبَاتَ فِي الْأَمْرِ وَعَزِيمَةَ الرُّشْدِ وَأَسْأَلُكَ شُكْرَ نِعْمَتِكَ وَحُسْنَ عِبَادَتِكَ وَأَسْأَلُكَ قَلْبًا سَلِيمًا وَلِسَانًا صَادِقًا وَأَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ خَيْرِ مَا تَعْلَمُ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا تَعْلَمُ وَأَسْتَغْفِرُكَ لِمَا تَعْلَمُ»
