14. Chapter of Shīn (Male)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you arrives at a gathering, if there is space for him, let him sit, otherwise let him look for a wider place and then sit."
[Machine] He approached until he reached Abu Kulthum Al-Dawsi, so they discussed the middle prayer. He said, "We differed in it just as you differed. We are in the courtyard of the Prophet's ﷺ house, and among us is the righteous man, Abu Hashim ibn Utba ibn Rabia ibn Abdul Shams." He said, "I have more knowledge of that for you." So he came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and boldly approached him, seeking permission. He entered to him, then came out to us and informed us that it was the Asr prayer.
“We stopped with Abu Hashim bin ‘Utbah, who had been stabbed, and Mu’awiyah came to visit him. Abu Hashim wept and Mu’awiyah said to him: ‘Why are you weeping, O maternal uncle? Is there some pain bothering you, or is it because of this world, the best of which has already passed?’ He said: ‘It is not for any of these reasons. But the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave me some advice and I wish that I had followed it. He ﷺ said: “There may come a time when you will see wealth divided among the people, and all you will need of that is a servant and a mount to ride in the cause of Allah.” That time came, but I accumulated wealth.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 4103)
"Mu'awiyah came to Abu Hashim bin 'Uthbah to visit him when he was ill (and dying). He said: 'O Uncle! Why do you cry? Is it from the pangs of death or desire for this world?' He said: 'Neither of these. But the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had commissioned me with an obligation that I did not abide by. He ﷺ said: "It suffices you to gather the wealth of a servant or a rider in the cause of Allah." And (it is only) today I find that I have gathered it.'" (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2327)
[Machine] Muawiyah entered upon his uncle, and when he saw him, he said, "Why do you look anxious and eager for the world?" His uncle replied, "No, but I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'You may come across people who value wealth, but it is enough for one of you to have a house and a means of transportation in the way of Allah.'"
