"What becomes unlawful through breastfeeding is that which becomes unlawful through birth."

لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ مَا يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الْوِلاَدَةِ

The Prophet ﷺ said: What is unlawful by reason of consanguinity is unlawful by reason of fosterage.

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ مَا يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الْوِلاَدَةِ

“Indeed Allah has made unlawful through suckling whatever He made unlawful through birth.”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ اللَّهَ حَرَّمَ مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ مَا حَرَّمَ مِنَ الْوِلاَدَةِ

"What becomes unlawful (for marriage) through birth becomes unlawful through breast-feeding."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ مَا حَرَّمَتْهُ الْوِلاَدَةُ حَرَّمَهُ الرَّضَاعُ

"I heard 'Aishah say: The Messenger of Allah said: 'What becomes unlawful (for marriage) through breast-feeding is that which becomes unlawful through birth.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعِ مَا يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الْوِلاَدَةِ

that the Messenger of Allah said: 'Breast-feeding makes unlawful (for marriages) the same things that blood tie make unlawful.”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعِ مَا يَحْرُمُ مِنَ النَّسَبِ

"What becomes unlawful through breastfeeding is that which becomes unlawful through birth." (Using translation from Muslim 1444b)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ مَا يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الْوِلَادَةِ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said that the suckling of one or two times does not make breastfeeding forbidden.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لَا يُحَرِّمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ الْمَصَّةُ وَالْمَصَّتَانِ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعِ مَا يَحْرُمُ مِنَ النَّسَبِ مِنْ خَالٍ أَوْ عَمٍّ أَوْ ابْنِ أَخٍ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Breastfeeding is only lawful due to starvation."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّمَا الرَّضَاعَةُ مِنَ الْمَجَاعَةِ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abdullah ibn Dinar from Sulayman ibn Yasar and from Urwa ibn az-Zubayr from A'isha umm al- muminin, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, " What is haram by birth is haram by suckling."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ مَا يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الْوِلاَدَةِ

that the Messenger of Allah said: 'Breast-feeding makes unlawful (for marriages) the same things that blood tie make unlawful.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1937)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «يُحَرِّمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعِ مَا يُحَرِّمُ مِنَ الْوِلَادَةِ»

[AI] From the Prophet ﷺ who said, "Nothing is forbidden through breastfeeding except what reaches the intestines."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا يُحَرِّمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعِ إِلَّا مَا فَتَقَ الْأَمْعَاءَ»

that the Messenger of Allah said: 'Breast-feeding makes unlawful (for marriages) the same things that blood tie make unlawful.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1937)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعِ مَا يَحْرُمُ مِنَ النَّسَبِ»

that the Messenger of was offered the daughter of Hamzah bin 'Abdul-Muttalib in marriage, and he said: “She is the daughter of my brother through breastfeeding, and breastfeeding makes unlawful (for marriage) the same things that blood ties make unlawful.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1938)

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أُرِيدَ عَلَى بِنْتِ حَمْزَةَ فَقَالَ «إِنَّهَا بِنْتُ أَخِي مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ وَإِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ يُحَرِّمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعِ مَا يُحَرِّمُ مِنَ النَّسَبِ»

[AI] "From the Prophet ﷺ he said: 'What is forbidden by lineage is also forbidden by breastfeeding.'"

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ مَا يَحْرُمُ مِنَ النَّسَبِ»

[AI] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'What is forbidden by lineage is also forbidden by breastfeeding.'"

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعِ مَا يَحْرُمُ مِنَ النَّسَبِ»

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعِ مَا يَحْرُمُ مِنَ النَّسَبِ»

[AI] "On the authority of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , he said: 'Do not forbid breastfeeding by suckling once or twice.'"

[AI] Aisha used to say, "Forbid from breastfeeding whoever you forbid from lineage."

أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ كَانَتْ تَقُولُ «حَرِّمُوا مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ مَنْ تُحَرِّمُونَ مِنَ النَّسَبِ»

ؓ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ مَا يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الْوِلَادَةِ

[AI] Ibn Abbas said, "Seven (marriages) through marriage and seven through lineage, and what is prohibited by lineage is also prohibited by breastfeeding."

قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ سَبْعٌ صِهْرٌ وَسَبْعٌ نَسَبٌ وَيَحْرُمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعِ مَا يَحْرُمُ مِنَ النَّسَبِ

The Prophet ﷺ said: What is unlawful by reason of consanguinity is unlawful by reason of fosterage. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2055)

رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ مَا يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الْوِلَادَةِ

"أَمَا علمتَ أن اللهَ تعالى حرَّمَ مِنَ الرَّضَاعَة مثلَ ما حرَّمَ من النَّسَب؟ ".

"What becomes unlawful (for marriage) through breast-feeding is that which becomes unlawful through lineage." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3302)

"إِنَّ الله ﷻ حرَّم مِن الرضاع مَا حَرَّمَ مِن النَّسَبِ".

"What becomes unlawful through breastfeeding is that which becomes unlawful through birth." (Using translation from Muslim 1444b)

"إِنَّ الله تَعَالى حَرَّمَ مِنَ الرضاعةِ ما حَرَّم من الولَادَة".

"الرَّضَاعةُ تُحَرِّمُ ما تُحرِّمُ الولَادَةُ".

"يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ مَا يَحْرُمُ مِنَ النَّسَبِ".
