[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , saying: "When the scribes find what they are entitled to, refrain from it."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِذَا وَجَدَ الْمُكَاتَبُ مَا يُؤَدِّي فَاحْتَجِبِي مِنْهُ»  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "When you find the scribes fulfilling their duty, then distance yourself from it."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِذَا وَجَدَ الْمُكَاتَبُ مَا يُؤَدِّي فَاحْتَجِبِي مِنْهُ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to us, "If one of you has something that needs to be taken care of by writing, then keep it private."  

إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَنَا «إِذَا كَانَ عِنْدَ مُكَاتَبِ إِحْدَاكُنَّ مَا يَقْضِي عَنْهُ كِتَابَتَهُ فَاحْتَجِبِي مِنْهُ»  

[Machine] The messenger of Allah ﷺ made a pact with us that when he is at the desk of one of you, meaning fulfilling what is left of his correspondence, then we should hide from him.  

إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَهِدَ إِلَيْنَا إِذَا كَانَ عِنْدَ مُكَاتَبِ إِحْدَاكُنَّ يَعْنِي وَفَاءٌ بِمَا بَقِيَ مِنْ مُكَاتَبَتِهِ فَاحْتَجِبْنَ مِنْهُ  

[Machine] Um Salama, the Prophet of Allah, ﷺ , said, "When there is something to be dealt with by the scribes, keep away from it."  

أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا كَانَ عِنْدَ الْمُكَاتَبِ مَا يَقْضِي عَنْهُ فَاحْتَجِبْنَ عَنْهُ»  

[Machine] Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to entrust us when one of us had writings, so he would complete what remained of his writing and then strike a veil over it. This is the interpretation of the saying of Allah, may His praises be glorified: "And give them from the wealth of Allah which He has given you." [Surah An-Nur 33]  

إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَدْ كَانَ عَهِدَ إِلَيْنَا إِذَا كَانَ لِإِحْدَانَا مُكَاتَبٌ «فَقَضَى مَا بَقِيَ مِنْ كِتَابَتِهِ فَاضْرِبْنَ دُونَهُ الْحِجَابَ» تَأْوِيلُ قَوْلِ اللهِ جَلَّ ثَنَاؤُهُ {وَآتُوهُمْ مِنْ مَالِ اللهِ الَّذِي آتَاكُمْ} [النور 33]  

[Machine] Narrated from the Prophet ﷺ : "Give them from the wealth of Allah which He has given to you." [Surah An-Nur, verse 33] He said, "A quarter of a tenth."  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ {وَآتُوهُمْ مِنْ مَالِ اللهِ الَّذِي آتَاكُمْ} [النور 33] قَالَ «رُبْعَ الْمُكَاتَبَةِ»  

[Machine] About the Prophet ﷺ, "And give them from the wealth of Allah which He has given you." [Al-Nur 33] He (the Prophet) said, "One-fourth of the writing." Ibn Juraij said, and more than one informed me, from Ata that he used to narrate this hadith without mentioning the Prophet ﷺ.  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ {وَآتُوهُمْ مِنْ مَالِ اللهِ الَّذِي آتَاكُمْ} [النور 33] قَالَ «رُبْعَ الْكِتَابَةِ» قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ وَأَخْبَرَنِي غَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يُحَدِّثُ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ لَا يَذْكُرُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ  

[Machine] About Ali, "And give them from the wealth of Allah which He has given you." [Surah An-Nur: 33] He said, "One-fourth of the written contract."  

عَنْ عَلِيٍّ {وَآتُوهُمْ مِنْ مَالِ اللهِ الَّذِي آتَاكُمْ} [النور 33] قَالَ «رُبْعَ الْمُكَاتَبَةِ»  

[Machine] He hired a boy as his scribe for four thousand, then he relieved him of a thousand, and then he said, "If I had not seen Ali hiring a boy scribe for him and relieving him of a quarter, I would not have done so."  

أَنَّهُ كَاتَبَ غُلَامًا لَهُ عَلَى أَرْبَعَةِ آلَافٍ ثُمَّ وَضَعَ عَنْهُ أَلْفًا ثُمَّ قَالَ «لَوْلَا أَنِّي رَأَيْتُ عَلِيًّا كَاتَبَ غُلَامًا لَهُ ثُمَّ وَضَعَ عَنْهُ الرُّبُعَ مَا فَعَلْتُ»
