18. Emancipation of Slaves
١٨۔ كِتَابُ الْعِتْقِ
“We used to sell our slave women and the mothers of our children (Umahat Awaldina) when the Prophet ﷺ was still living among us, and we did not see anything wrong with that.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2517)
أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرًا يَقُولُ «كُنَّا نَبِيعُ سَرَارِيَّنَا أُمَّهَاتِ الْأَوْلَادِ وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ حَيٌّ مَا نَرَى بِذَلِكَ بَأْسًا»
[Machine] "We used to sell mothers of the children during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and no one would deny that from us."
«كُنَّا نَبِيعُ أُمَّهَاتِ الْأَوْلَادِ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَا يُنْكِرُ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْنَا»
[Machine] "We used to sell them during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." Abu Abdur Rahman Zaid al-Ami said, "He is not strong."
«كُنَّا نَبِيعُهُنَّ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ زَيْدٌ الْعَمِّيُّ لَيْسَ بِالْقَوِيِّ
