The dead body of my father was brought and he was covered (with cloth) and it had been mutilated. I made an attempt to lift the cloth, but my people prohibited me to do so. I again made an attempt to lift the cloth, but my people prohibited me. Thereupon Messenger of Allah ﷺ lifted it or he commanded it to be lifted. He heard the noise (of a loud) weeping, or the noise of a woman mourner. He inquired who she was. They said: The daughter of 'Amr or the sister of Amr, whereupon he said: Why does she weep? The Angels provide him shade with the help of their Wings until he would be lifted (to his heavenly abode)

On the day of the Battle of Uhud, my father was brought and he had been mutilated (in battle) and was placed in front of Messenger of Allah ﷺ and a sheet was over him. I went intending to uncover my father but my people forbade me; again I wanted to uncover him but my people forbade me. Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave his order and he was shifted away. At that time he heard the voice of a crying woman and asked, "Who is this?" They said, "It is the daughter or the sister of ʿAmr." He said, "Why does she weep? (or let her stop weeping), for the angels had been shading him with their wings till he (i.e. the body of the martyr) was shifted away."

My father's mutilated body was brought to the Prophet ﷺ and was placed in front of him. I went to uncover his face but my companions forbade me. Then mourning cries of a lady were heard, and it was said that she was either the daughter or the sister of ʿAmr. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Why is she crying?" Or said, "Do not cry, for the angels are still shading him with their wings." (Al-Bukhari asked Sadqa, a sub-narrator, "Does the narration include the expression: 'Till he was lifted?' " The latter replied, "Jabir may have said it.")

[Machine] Jabir heard that his father was brought to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ on the day of Uhud, and he was laid before the Prophet while he was in a state of unconsciousness. I wanted to uncover his face, but my people prevented me. Then I heard a crying voice, and the Prophet said, "Who is this?" They said, "The daughter of Amr or the sister of Amr." He asked, "Why is she crying?" The angels continued to protect him with their wings until he was lifted.
