ذِكْرُ الْقَدْرِ الَّذِي يُقْرَأُ بِهِ فِي صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray the Dhuhr prayer with the first two units consisting of reciting approximately thirty verses in each unit, and the last two units consisting of reciting approximately fifteen verses in each unit. And he used to pray the Asr prayer with the first two units consisting of reciting approximately fifteen verses in each unit, and the last two units consisting of reciting approximately half of that.  

ابن حبّان:١٨٢٥أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْجُنَيْدِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ زَاذَانَ عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ أَبِي بِشْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي الصِّدِّيقِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ

«كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُومُ فِي صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ قَدْرَ قِرَاءَةِ ثَلَاثِينَ آيَةً فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَةٍ وَفِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْآخِرَتَيْنِ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَةٍ قَدْرَ قِرَاءَةِ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ آيَةً وَكَانَ يَقُومُ فِي الْعَصْرِ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَةٍ قَدْرَ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ آيَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَتَيْنِ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَةٍ قَدْرَ نِصْفِ ذَلِكَ»

And in the last two units, he would recite half of that.
