[Machine] "People made a mistake in counting, not in his allegiance or his death, but rather in counting from the beginning of the city."  

الحاكم:٤٢٨٥ – حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْخَيَّاطُ بِبَغْدَادَ ثنا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ شَرِيكٍ الْبَزَّازُ ثنا أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ

«أَخْطَأَ النَّاسُ فِي الْعَدَدِ مَا عَدُّوا مِنْ بَيْعَتِهِ وَلَا مِنْ وَفَاتِهِ إِنَّمَا عَدُّوا مِنْ مَقْدَمِهِ الْمَدِينَةَ»  

هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ الشَّيْخَيْنِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ على شرط البخاري ومسلم

bukhari:3934 – ʿAbdullāh b. Maslamah > ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz from his father > Sahl b. Saʿd

The Prophet's companions did not take as a starting date for the Muslim calendar, the day, the Prophet ﷺ had been sent as an Apostle or the day of his death, but the day of his arrival at Medina.  

البخاري:٣٩٣٤ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ

مَا عَدُّوا مِنْ مَبْعَثِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَلاَ مِنْ وَفَاتِهِ مَا عَدُّوا إِلاَّ مِنْ مَقْدَمِهِ الْمَدِينَةَ  

tabarani:5910 – Yaḥyá b. Ayyūb al-ʿAllāf > Saʿīd b. Abū Maryam And Yaḥyá b. Bukayr > Ibn Abū Ḥāzim > Abū Ḥāzim > Sahl b. Saʿd

[Machine] The people have not encountered any harm in terms of the number that they counted from the time of the Prophet's ﷺ mission, nor from his death. They have only encountered harm from the beginning of the city.  

الطبراني:٥٩١٠ – حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْعَلَّافُ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ وَيَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ قَالَا ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَازِمٍ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ

«مَا أَصَابَ النَّاسُ الْعَدَدَ مَا عَدُّوا مِنْ مَبْعَثِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَلَا مِنْ وَفَاتِهِ وَلَا عَدُّوا إِلَّا مِنْ مَقْدِمِهِ الْمَدِينَةَ»
