46. Book of Tribulations and Great Wars (8/8)
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, say, "There will be a generation after sixty years who will abandon prayer and follow their desires. They will face calamities. Then, after sixty years, there will be a generation who will recite the Quran, but it will not go beyond their throats. There will be three types of individuals: a believer, a hypocrite, and a wicked person." Bashir asked, "Who are these three?" The Prophet, peace be upon him, replied, "The hypocrite disbelieves in it, the wicked consumes it, and the believer believes in it."
[Machine] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who said, "By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad, the Hour will not be established until indecency and stinginess appear, and the trustworthy person is betrayed, and the treacherous person is trusted, and the lowly people become leaders, and deception becomes widespread." So they said, "O Messenger of Allah, what are the lowly people and what is deception?" He said, "The lowly people are the faces of the people and their noble ones, and deception is those who were under the feet of the people and were unknown."
[Machine] Marwan sat with three people in the city, and they heard him speaking about the signs, the first of which is the emergence of the Dajjal (the Antichrist). The group stood up from Marwan's side and went to Abdullah bin Amr and informed him of what Marwan said. Abdullah said, "Marwan did not say anything. I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, saying, 'The first of the signs is the rising of the sun from its place of setting or the beast. Whichever of them comes first, the other will soon follow in its footsteps.'" Then he continued to speak and said, "And when the sun sets, it prostrates beneath the Throne and seeks permission to rise again, but nothing responds to it." He said, "Then it seeks permission again to rise, but nothing responds to it." He said, "O Lord, how far away is the east from me! Who will respond to me until the night comes?" So it sought permission, and it was said to it, "Leave your place." He said, " Abdullah used to recite the Quran, and he recited on that day, 'No one's faith will be of any benefit to them if they did not believe before or earn good through their faith.'" [Al-An'am: 158]

“When the fierce battles take place, Allah will send a troop of freed slaves who will be the best Arab horsemen and the best armed, with whom Allah will support His religion.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 4090)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A fire will be sent to the people of the East, which will gather them towards the West. I will spend the night with them wherever they spend the night and I will rise with them wherever they rise. The fire will follow them like a shadow and will drive them towards the barren land of broken camel bones."
[Machine] The man among us, when he arrived at the city, would stay at the Sufah (a designated area for the poor and homeless to rest). If he had a host in the city, he would stay at his host's place. If he did not have a host, he would stay at the Sufah.
I arrived at the city and did not have a host, so I stayed at the Sufah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would visit us every day, bringing with him a bunch of dates and we would be covered with a garment made of coarse wool. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in some of the daytime prayers, and when he finished, the people of the Sufah called him, saying, "O Messenger of Allah, our stomachs are burning because of the dates, and the coarse wool is causing us discomfort."
So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood at his pulpit and praised Allah and extolled Him. Then he mentioned the severity of what he encountered from his people, until he said, "I have been given a little, around ten measures of barley, and my companion (referring to Abu Bakr) has been given the same. I have nothing to eat except for the barley bread." I said to Abu Harb, "What is 'al-Burair'?" He said, "It is a bad kind of food, the fruit of camel-thorn."
"So we went to our brothers among the Ansar, and their main food was dates." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ continued, "By Allah, if I were to find bread and meat for you, I would have given you until you were full. But perhaps you may catch up with a time or a person who will feed you and give you rest with broken dishes, and you will wear clothes like the black silk covers of the Ka'bah."
Dawud said that Abu Harb said to me, "O Dawud, do you know what the covers of the Ka'bah were like at that time?" I said, "No." He said, "They were white clothes, brought from Yemen." [Sahih Bukhari]

[Machine] "Narrated by Abu Salamah, he mentioned it in its wording."
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "The day and the night will not pass until Lat and Uzza (names of pagan idols) are worshipped, and until Allah sends a pleasant wind and takes the life of whoever has, in their heart, an atom's weight of good, and leaves the one who has no goodness in them, and they will return to the religion of their forefathers."
[Machine] The likeness of fitnah (temptation, trial) is like a group of three people traveling together at night, until they meet at a crossroads. One of them says, "I will take the right path," and he takes it and gets lost. The other says, "I will take the left path," and he takes it and gets lost. The third one says, "I will stay in my place until morning," and he stays there until morning. Then, he takes the right path and reaches his destination. This is a saying attributed to Ali ibn Abi Talib.

[Machine] "Oh my son, do not grieve me with yourself, for there will come a cry from Sham (Syria) upon every Muslim." Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in the summary.
«يَا بُنَيَّ لَا تَفْجَعْنِي بِنَفْسِكَ فَلَيَأْتِيَنَّ مِنَ الشَّامِ صَرِيخُ كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ» سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص
[Machine] "That there will not remain in the land of the foreigners (non-Arabs) from the Arabs except for a slain person or a captive whose fate is decided by shedding blood," Zuraah said, "Will the polytheists appear victorious over Islam?" He replied, "Who are you?" He said, "I am from the Banu 'Amir ibn Sa'sa'ah." He said, "The Hour will not be established until the women of Banu 'Amir fight against Dhi al-Khalasa, a tribe that was known in the pre-Islamic era." Zuraah said, "So we mentioned this to 'Umar ibn al-Khattab." He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'There will always be a group among my Ummah who will be victorious upon the truth until the command of Allah comes.'" So we mentioned 'Umar's statement to 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr and he said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ spoke the truth when he said that."

What is this hadith that you narrate that the Last Hour would come at such and such time? Thereupon he said: Hallowed be Allah, there is no god but Allah (or the words to the same effect). I have decided that I would not narrate anything to anyone now. I had only said that you would see after some time an important event that the (sacred) House (Ka'ba) would be burnt and it would happen and definitely happen. He then reported that Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The Dajjal would appear in my Ummah and he would stay (in the world) for forty - I cannot say whether he meant forty days, forty months or forty years. And Allah would then send Jesus son of Mary who would resemble 'Urwa b Mas'ud. He (Jesus Christ) would chase him and kill him. Then people would live for seven years that there would be no rancour between two persons. Then Allah would send cold wind from the side of Syria that none would survive upon the earth having a speck of good in him or faith in him but he would die, so much so that even if some amongst you were to enter the innermost part of the mountain, this wind would reach that place also and that would cause his death. I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: Only the wicked people would survive and they would be as careless as birds with the characteristics of beasts. They would never appreciate the good nor condemn evil. Then Satan would come to them in human form and would say: Don't you respond? And they would say: What do you order us? And he would command them to worship the idols but, in spite of this, they would have abundance of sustenance and lead comfortable lives. Then the trumpet would be blown and no one would hear that but he would bend his neck to one side and raise it from the other side and the first one to hear that trumpet would be the person who would be busy in setting right the tank meant for providing water to the camels. He would swoon and the other people would also swoon, then Allah would send or He would cause to send rain which would be like dew and there would grow out of it the bodies of the people. Then the second trumpet would be blown and they would stand up and begin to look (around). Then it would be said: O people, go to your Lord, and make them stand there. And they would be questioned. Then it would be said: Bring out a group (out of them) for the Hell-Fire. And then it would be asked: How much? It would be said: Nine hundred and ninty-nine out of one thousand for the Hell-Fire and that would be the day which would make the children old because of its terror and that would be the day about which it has been said: "On the day when the shank would be uncovered" (lxviii. 42). [Machine] Abu Al-Tahir and Abu Al-Rabi' Al-Masri narrated to me that Abdullah ibn Wahb informed them that Abdur Rahman ibn Shuraih narrated from Rabi'ah ibn Saif Al Ma'afiri, who heard it from Ishaq ibn Abdullah, that Awf ibn Malik Al-Ashja'i visited the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم during a victorious battle. He greeted the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and said, "Congratulations, O Messenger of Allah. Allah has honored your victory, made your religion manifest, and caused the burden of war to be lifted with ease." The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم was in a dome made of adobe bricks, and he said, "Enter, O Awf." Awf asked, "Shall I enter wholly or partially?" The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "Enter wholly." Awf said, "Indeed, the burdens of war will not be lifted until there come six events, the first of which will be my death." Awf wept, and the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "Say 'one' and [then] 'two.' The first is the conquest of Jerusalem, the second is a trial that will occur among the people, like the scattering of sheep. The fourth is a trial that will occur among the people, where no household will remain except that their share of it will come to them. The fifth is the birth of a boy from the offspring of the kings who will grow rapidly, reaching maturity in a day like how an infant grows in a week, and how an infant grows in a month, and how an infant grows in a year. When he turns twelve, they will make him their king. He will stand among them and say, 'For how long will these people continue to oppress us and invade our lands?' I have resolved to go forth and drive them out from our lands." The preachers then stood up and expressed their agreement with him. He then sent to Algeria and the desert to construct ships, and he filled them with fighters until he arrived between Antioch and Al Arish. Ibn Shuraih said, "I heard someone say that there will be twelve goals under each goal there will be twelve thousand, and the Muslims will unite and gather with their leader in Jerusalem. They agreed to march to the city of the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم while carrying their weapons in Sarih and Khaybar. Ibn Abi Ja'far said that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said, 'They will drive my Ummah out of the boundaries of Sham.' Or Al-Harith ibn Yazid said, 'They will settle there, and then one third of them will flee, one third of them will be killed, and Allah Almighty will make the remaining one third victorious through their patience.' Khalid ibn Yazid said, 'On that day, he will strike with his sword, and he will pierce them with his spear, and the Muslims will follow him until they reach the Strait of Constantinople. They will find it dry, so they will cross over to the city. Allah will demolish their walls through the takbir, and they will enter it and distribute their wealth through the ammaded chests.' Abu Qabil Al-Ma'afiri said, 'As they were doing that, a rider came to them and said, "You are here, but the Dajjal has already deceived your families." This was, in fact, falsehood. Whoever heard the scholars concerning this matter took the right path, but others scattered. Meanwhile, the Muslims started building mosques in Constantinople and continued fighting until the Dajjal emerged for the sixth time.

[Machine] I heard Ali saying, "There has never been a true state except that Adam was praised over Iblis, and there has never been a false state except that Iblis was preferred over Adam. Iblis was commanded to prostrate, but he disobeyed, so Adam was praised over him. This continued until two men fought and one killed the other. Iblis was preferred over him. And indeed, there will be specific trials, general trials, specific trials, and general trials." It was asked, "O commander of the faithful, what is the specific trial and the general trial, the specific trial and the general trial?" He said, "There will be two imams, one true and one false. The truth will turn into falsehood and falsehood will turn into truth. This is the specific trial. And there will be two imams, one true and one false. The truth will turn into falsehood and falsehood will turn into truth. This is the general trial."

[Machine] I heard Ali ibn Abi Talib say, "There will be a tribulation in which people will acquire from it like gold is acquired from its mines. So do not curse the people of Sham but curse their darkness, for in them, there are replacements. Allah will send a flood from the sky that will drown them, even if they were to fight them, the foxes would prevail over them. Then Allah will send a man from the descendants of the Prophet ﷺ with twelve thousand followers if they are few or fifteen thousand followers if they are many. Their sign or emblem will unite them under three banners. The people of seven banners will fight against them, and every one who carries a banner desires to attain power. They will fight and be defeated. Then the Hashemite (descendant of Hashem) will appear, and Allah will return His favor and blessings to the people through him. They will continue in this state until the emergence of the Antichrist."

[Machine] Ali, then, shook his hand seven times and said, "This will come out at the end of time when a man says, 'Allah, Allah, I am killed,' and Allah, the Exalted, will gather for him a scattered people like the scattering of clouds. Allah will join their hearts, and they will not depend on or rejoice in anyone who joins them, comparing them to the number of the Companions of Badr. The first will not precede them, nor will the latter overtake them, and they will be like the number of the Companions of Talut who crossed the river with him." Abu Tufail said, "Ibn Hanafiyyah said, 'Do you want to see them?' I said, 'Yes.' He said, 'They will come out from between these two wooden beams.' I said, 'By Allah, I will not see them until I die.' So Makkah was guarded by Allah, the Exalted."

[Machine] From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said: "One of the signs of the Hour is that the wicked will be elevated and the righteous will be humiliated, and speech will be abundant, while actions will be scarce, and the Quran will be recited by people whom nobody will reject." It was asked, "What is meant by 'the Quran will be recited by people whom nobody will reject'?" He replied, "No one will dispute the Quran except those who deny it." This hadith was narrated by Al-Awza'i on the authority of Amr ibn Qais Al-Sakuni.
[Machine] I went with my father in the delegation to Mu'awiyah, and I heard a man speaking to the people saying, "Indeed, one of the signs of the Hour is that the wicked will be elevated and the righteous will be humiliated, and actions and deeds will be hidden while words will be spoken, and the Quran will be recited in pairs among the people, among whom no one will change it or deny it." So it was asked, "What is meant by 'reciting in pairs'?" He said, "Reciting the Quran in a manner that it was not written, except in the book of Allah, the Almighty." So I narrated this hadith to a group of people among whom was Isma'il bin 'Ubaidullah, and he said, "I am with you in this assembly. Do you know who the man is?" I said, "No." He said, "It is Abdullah bin Umar."

[Machine] We were with Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As when he was asked, "Which of the two cities, Constantinople or Rome, will be conquered first?" He called for a hidden chest, and from it he took out a book. He looked into it and then said, "We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and used to write down whatever he said. He was asked, 'Which of the two cities, Constantinople or Rome, will be conquered first?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'The city of Heraclius will be conquered first.' He meant Constantinople."

[Machine] "Adhere to this obedience and unity, for it is the rope of Allah which He has commanded. And know that what you dislike in the community is better than what you love in division. Indeed, Allah has not created anything without a purpose, and this religion has been perfected. It is heading towards decline, and the sign of that is when ties of kinship are cut, wealth is taken unlawfully, blood is shed, the one with close relatives complains about them, and their complaints are not heard. The one seeking help wanders between the two congregations, but nothing is given to him. While they were in this state, suddenly the cow's tail became limp, and people thought that it was a problem only they faced. But in reality, the earth threw out nuggets of gold and silver from its liver, but after that, gold and silver became useless."

[Machine] "He (the Prophet) said to Abu Mas'ood, 'Indeed, I had two companions whom I used to seek comfort with, Huzaifah and Abu Musa. And I swear to you by Allah, if you have heard anything from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ concerning trials and tribulations, then inform me. And if not, then give me your opinion.' He said, 'Praise be to Allah' and praised him then he said, 'Adhere to the majority of the Ummah of Muhammad ﷺ, for Allah never gathers the Ummah of Muhammad ﷺ on misguidance. [Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "You must obey Allah and this community. Indeed, Allah, the Most High, does not gather the Ummah (nation) of Muhammad ﷺ on misguidance forever. You must also be patient until the good is attained and the evildoer is pacified (or obliterated)."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The Mahdi is from us, the people of the household. He has a prominent nose and a broad forehead. "The Mahdi will be among my nation. If he lives for a short period, it will be seven, and if he lives for a long period, it will be nine, during which my nation will enjoy a time of ease such as it has never enjoyed. The land will bring forth its yield and will not hold back anything, and wealth at that time will be piled up. A man will stand up and say: 'O Mahdi, give me!' He will say: 'Take.'"
