Whenever somebody brought alms to the Prophet ﷺ the used to say, "Allahumma Salli 'Alaihi (O Allah! Send Your Salat (Grace and Honor) on him)." Once when my father brought his alms to him, he said, "O Allah! Send Your Salat (Grace and Honor) on the family of Abi ʿAufa."

كَانَ إِذَا أَتَى رَجُلٌ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ بِصَدَقَتِهِ قَالَ: «اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَيْهِ» فَأَتَاهُ أَبِي بِصَدَقَتِهِ فَقَالَ: «اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى آلِ أَبِي أَوْفَى.»

They asked: "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, how should we send blessings upon you?" He said: "Say: O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and his wives and his offspring, as You sent blessings upon the family of Ibrahim; and bless Muhammad and his wives and his offspring, as You blessed the family of Ibrahim. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy, Glorious."

أَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، كَيْفَ نُصَلِّي عَلَيْكَ؟ قَالَ: «قُولُوا: اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَأَزْوَاجِهِ وَذُرِّيَّتِهِ كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، وَبَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَأَزْوَاجِهِ وَذُرِّيَّتِهِ كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ».
