[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ was asked about fasting on the day of Arafah. He said, "It expiates the sins of the previous year and the coming year."  

البيهقي:٨٣٨٠ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ وَأَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ الْمُزَكِّي وَغَيْرُهُمَا قَالُوا ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا بَكَّارُ بْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ثنا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ وَعَمْرُو بْنُ حَكَّامٍ قَالَا ثنا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ غَيْلَانَ بْنَ جَرِيرٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَعْبَدٍ الزِّمَّانِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ سُئِلَ عَنْ صَوْمِ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ قَالَ يُكَفِّرُ السَّنَةَ الْمَاضِيَةَ وَالْبَاقِيَةَ  

أَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ شُعْبَةَ وَغَيْرِهِ

البيهقي:٥٤٨٥ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلْمَانَ النَّجَّادُ ثنا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ثنا عَفَّانُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ وَأَبُو الْوَلِيدِ هِشَامُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ وَسُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ وَأَبُو عُمَرَ حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْحَوْضِيُّ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ وَعَمْرُو بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ وَالرَّبِيعُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْأُشْنَانِيُّ قَالُوا ثنا شُعْبَةُ وَهَذَا لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ عَفَّانَ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنِي قَتَادَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مُوسَى بْنَ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ فَقُلْتُ إِنِّي أَكُونُ بِمَكَّةَ فَكَيْفَ أُصَلِّي؟ قَالَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ سُنَّةَ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ ﷺ وَقَالَ عَمْرُو بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ كَمْ أُصَلِّي إِذَا فَاتَتْنِي الصَّلَاةُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ؟ فَقَالَ

رَكْعَتَيْنِ تِلْكَ سُنَّةُ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ ﷺ
