41. Chapter
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, the Jews and Christians do not dye their hair, so differentiate yourselves from them." And Abu Abdullah informed us that Abu Bakr ibn Ishaq informed us that Ismail ibn Qutaybah narrated to us from Yahya ibn Yahya from Sufyan from Az-Zuhri who mentioned it similarly.
[Machine] I asked Anas bin Malik, "Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ dye his hair?" He replied, "He never had more than a few gray hairs." And Abu Abdullah Al-Hafiz informed us, "I am Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Ya'qub, dictating," and Al-Sari bin Khuzaima narrated it to me from Mu'alla bin Asad, who mentioned it in the same way.
[Machine] About the dye of the Prophet, ﷺ , he said, "If I wanted to count the number of times I dyed my head, I would do so" and he said, "He did not perform khitan and Abu Bakr performed khitan with henna and katam, and Umar performed khitan with henna alone." This is the wording of the hadith of Abu Rabi' and in the narration of Sulayman, Anas said, "If I wanted to count the number of times I dyed his beard, I would do so." And Abu Bakr performed khitan with henna and katam.
[Machine] And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not dye his hair, as the whiteness was only due to the natural greying, both on his temples and on his head.
[Machine] Umm Salamah, then, brought to us a strand of the Prophet's hair, praising it.
