[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said: "Ibn Abi Adi gave us a sermon of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he said: 'No one should slaughter before we pray.' My uncle stood up and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, this is a day of meat and there is plenty of it.' Ibn Abi Adi said it is disliked, and I had already slaughtered my sacrificial animals before my family and neighbors ate, and I have a flask of milk which is better than two thighs of meat. Should I slaughter it?' The Prophet said, 'Yes, and cutting a slice of meat for someone else after you will not diminish your reward, and it is better than your two jars of milk.'  

أحمد:١٨٦٣٠ – حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا دَاوُدُ وَابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ دَاوُدَ الْمَعْنَى عَنْ عَامِرٍ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ لَا يَذْبَحَنَّ أَحَدٌ قَبْلَ أَنْ نُصَلِّيَ فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ خَالِي وَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَذَا يَوْمٌ اللَّحْمُ فِيهِ كَثِيرٌ قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ مَكْرُوهٌ وَإِنِّي ذَبَحْتُ نُسُكِي قَبْلُ لِيَأْكُلَ أَهْلِي وَجِيرَانِي وَعِنْدِي عَنَاقُ لَبَنٍ خَيْرٌ مِنْ شَاتَيْ لَحْمٍ فَأَذْبَحُهَا؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ وَلَا تُجْزِئُ جَذَعَةٌ عَنْ أَحَدٍ بَعْدَكَ وَهِيَ خَيْرُ نَسِيكَتَيْكَ

Apostle of Allah, it is the day of meat and it is not desirable (to have longing for it and not to make use of it immediately), so I hastened in offering my animal as a sacrifice, so that I might feed my family and neighbours and my kith and kin. Thereupon Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Offer again your sacrifice. He said: Messenger of Allah, I have a small milch goat of less than one year, and that is better than two dry goats (from which only) meat (can be acquired). Thereupon he said: That is better than the two animals of sacrifice on your behalf, and the sacrifice of a goat, of less than six months shall not be accepted as a sacrifice on behalf of anyone after your (sacrifice).  

مسلم:١٩٦١b – حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَنَا هُشَيْمٌ عَنْ دَاوُدَ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ أَنَّ خَالَهُ أَبَا بُرْدَةَ بْنَ نِيَارٍ ذَبَحَ قَبْلَ

أَنْ يَذْبَحَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ هَذَا يَوْمٌ اللَّحْمُ فِيهِ مَكْرُوهٌ وَإِنِّي عَجَّلْتُ نَسِيكَتِي لأُطْعِمَ أَهْلِي وَجِيرَانِي وَأَهْلَ دَارِي فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَعِدْ نُسُكًا فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ عِنْدِي عَنَاقَ لَبَنٍ هِيَ خَيْرٌ مِنْ شَاتَىْ لَحْمٍ فَقَالَ هِيَ خَيْرُ نَسِيكَتَيْكَ وَلاَ تَجْزِي جَذَعَةٌ عَنْ أَحَدٍ بَعْدَكَ

He said: 'So my maternal uncle stood and said: ' O Messenger of Allah, this is the day in which meat is disliked, and I hastened my sacrifice to feed my family and the people of my dwellings - or - 'my neighbors.' He said: 'Repeat your slaughter with another.' He said: 'O Messenger of Allah ﷺ I have a she-kid that has better meat than my sheep, should I slaughter it?' He said: 'Yes, and it is better and it will suffice for you, but a Jadha' will not be accepted after you.' "  

الترمذي:١٥٠٨ – حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ قَالَ

قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا عِنْدَ أَكْثَرِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ أَنْ لاَ يُضَحَّى بِالْمِصْرِ حَتَّى يُصَلِّيَ الإِمَامُ وَقَدْ رَخَّصَ قَوْمٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ لأَهْلِ الْقُرَى فِي الذَّبْحِ إِذَا طَلَعَ الْفَجْرُ وَهُوَ قَوْلُ ابْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَقَدْ أَجْمَعَ أَهْلُ الْعِلْمِ أَنْ لاَ يُجْزِئَ الْجَذَعُ مِنَ الْمَعْزِ وَقَالُوا إِنَّمَا يُجْزِئُ الْجَذَعُ مِنَ الضَّأْنِ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "No one should slaughter before they pray." My uncle came to him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, today there is plenty of meat and I have slaughtered my sheep so that my family and neighbors can eat. I also have a neck of milk which is better than a sheep for meat. Should I slaughter it?" He said, "Yes, and you will not lose the reward of your sheep."  

البيهقي:١٩١١٣ – وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ بِشْرَانَ الْعَدْلُ بِبَغْدَادَ أنبأ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الرَّزَّازُ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أنبأ دَاوُدُ بْنُ أَبِي هِنْدَ عَنْ عَامِرٍ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ ؓ
