Anas said, "They used to gather and then take a midday nap."

كَانُوا يَجْمَعُونَ ثُمَّ يَقِيلُونَ

We used to offer the Jumua prayer early and then have an afternoon nap.

كُنَّا نُبَكِّرُ بِالْجُمُعَةِ وَنَقِيلُ بَعْدَ الْجُمُعَةِ

As above with the addition: We never had an afternoon nap nor meals except after offering the Jumua prayer.

وَقَالَ مَا كُنَّا نَقِيلُ وَلاَ نَتَغَدَّى إِلاَّ بَعْدَ الْجُمُعَةِ

We used to offer the Jumua prayer with the Prophet ﷺ and then take the afternoon nap.

كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ الْجُمُعَةَ ثُمَّ تَكُونُ الْقَائِلَةُ

My father who was amongst those who had given the Pledge of allegiance to the Prophet ﷺ beneath the Tree, said to me, "We used to offer the Jumua prayer with the Prophet ﷺ and then depart at a time when the walls had no shade for us to take shelter in."

كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ الْجُمُعَةَ ثُمَّ نَنْصَرِفُ وَلَيْسَ لِلْحِيطَانِ ظِلٌّ نَسْتَظِلُّ فِيهِ

We used to have a midday nap and take our meals after the Jumua (prayer).

كُنَّا نَقِيلُ وَنَتَغَدَّى بَعْدَ الْجُمُعَةِ

We used to observe (Jumu'a) prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and then we returned and gave rest to our camels used for carrying water. Hassan[ (one of the narrators) said: I asked Ja'far what time that was. He said.. It is the time when the sun passes the meridian.

كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ نَرْجِعُ فَنُرِيحُ نَوَاضِحَنَا قَالَ حَسَنٌ فَقُلْتُ لِجَعْفَرٍ فِي أَىِّ سَاعَةٍ تِلْكَ قَالَ زَوَالَ الشَّمْسِ

We used to observe the Friday prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and when we returned we did not find the shadow of the walls in which we could take protection (from the heat of the sun).

كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْجُمُعَةَ فَنَرْجِعُ وَمَا نَجِدُ لِلْحِيطَانِ فَيْئًا نَسْتَظِلُّ بِهِ

We used to offer the Friday prayer along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and return (to our homes) while no shade of the walls was seen (at that time).

كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْجُمُعَةَ ثُمَّ نَنْصَرِفُ وَلَيْسَ لِلْحِيطَانِ فَىْءٌ

We had a siesta or lunch after the Friday prayer.

كُنَّا نَقِيلُ وَنَتَغَدَّى بَعْدَ الْجُمُعَةِ

"We used to pray Jumu'ah with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ then we would go back and tend to our camels." I said: " At what time?" He said: "When the sun had passed its zenith."

كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْجُمُعَةَ ثُمَّ نَرْجِعُ فَنُرِيحُ نَوَاضِحَنَا قُلْتُ أَيَّةَ سَاعَةٍ قَالَ زَوَالُ الشَّمْسِ

"We used to pray Jumu'ah with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ then we would go back, and the walls had no shadow in which shade could be sought."

كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْجُمُعَةَ ثُمَّ نَرْجِعُ وَلَيْسَ لِلْحِيطَانِ فَىْءٌ يُسْتَظَلُّ بِهِ

“We did not take a Qailulah nor eat Ghada’ until after Friday (prayer).”*

مَا كُنَّا نَقِيلُ وَلاَ نَتَغَدَّى إِلاَّ بَعْدَ الْجُمُعَةِ

“We used to perform Friday (prayer) with the Prophet ﷺ, then we would return, and we would not see any shadow from the walls in which we could seek shade.”

كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ الْجُمُعَةَ ثُمَّ نَرْجِعُ فَلاَ نَرَى لِلْحِيطَانِ فَيْئًا نَسْتَظِلُّ بِهِ

“We used to perform the Friday (prayer), then we would return for a nap (Qailulah).”

كُنَّا نُجَمِّعُ ثُمَّ نَرْجِعُ فَنَقِيلُ

We used to offer the Friday prayer along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and return (to our homes) while no shade of the walls was seen (at that time). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1085)

«كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْجُمُعَةَ ثُمَّ نَنْصَرِفُ وَلَيْسَ لِلْحِيطَانِ فَيْءٌ نَسْتَظَلُّ بِهِ»

[AI] We used to pray with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ the Maghrib prayer, and then one of us would go to the Bani Salimah and see his noble sites.

كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الْمَغْرِبَ ثُمَّ يَجِيءُ أَحَدُنَا إِلَى بَنِي سَلِمَةَ وَهُوَ يَرَى مَوَاقِعَ نَبْلِهِ

[AI] We used to pray Maghrib prayer, then the traveler would depart from us to Bani Salimah while he sees the sites of nobility.

كُنَّا نُصَلِّي الْمَغْرِبَ ثُمَّ يَنْطَلِقُ الْمُنْطَلِقُ مِنَّا إِلَى بَنِي سَلِمَةَ وَهُوَ يَرَى مَوَاقِعَ نَبْلِهِ

[AI] "We used to pray Maghrib with the Prophet of Allah ﷺ, then the man would set off towards Bani Salimah while he still sees the location of his arrow."

كُنَّا نُصَلِّي الْمَغْرِبَ مَعَ نَبِيِّ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ يَنْطَلِقُ الرَّجُلُ إِلَى بَنِي سَلِمَةَ وَهُوَ يَرَى مَوْقِعَ سَهْمِهِ

[AI] We used to pray Jumu'ah with the Prophet ﷺ and then return to rest our camels. Al-Hasan said, "I asked Ja'far, When was that?" He said, "At sunset."

كُنَّا نُصَلِّي الْجُمُعَةَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ ثُمَّ نَرْجِعُ فَنُرِيحُ نَوَاضِحَنَا قَالَ حَسَنٌ قُلْتُ لِجَعْفَرٍ وَمَتَى ذَاكَ؟ قَالَ زَوَالَ الشَّمْسِ

[AI] We used to pray Jumu'ah (Friday prayer) with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, then we would return and he would say Abu Ahmad, then we would return to Banu Salimah and he would say while leaning to one side.

كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الْجُمُعَةَ ثُمَّ نَرْجِعُ فَنَقِيلُ قَالَ أَبُو أَحْمَدَ ثُمَّ نَرْجِعُ إِلَى بَنِي سَلِمَةَ فَنَقِيلُ وَهُوَ عَلَى مِيلَيْنِ

[AI] We used to pray Maghrib prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, then we would return to Bani Salimah and see the locations of the nobles.

كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الْمَغْرِبَ ثُمَّ نَرْجِعُ إِلَى بَنِي سَلِمَةَ فَنَرَى مَوَاقِعَ النَّبْلِ

[AI] "We used to pray with the Prophet ﷺ the Maghrib prayer, then we would return to our homes, and it was a short distance, and I could see the noble sites."

كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ الْمَغْرِبَ ثُمَّ نَرْجِعُ إِلَى مَنَازِلِنَا وَهِيَ مِيلٌ وَأَنَا أُبْصِرُ مَوَاقِعَ النَّبْلِ

[AI] We used to pray with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ the Maghrib prayer, then we would visit the tribe of Salimah while we could see the locations of the nobility.

كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الْمَغْرِبَ ثُمَّ نَأْتِي بَنِي سَلِمَةَ وَنَحْنُ نُبْصِرُ مَوَاقِعَ النَّبْلِ

We used to offer the Friday prayer along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and return (to our homes) while no shade of the walls was seen (at that time). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1085)

كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الْجُمُعَةَ ثُمَّ نَرْجِعُ فَلَا نَجِدُ لِلْحِيطَانِ فَيْئًا يُسْتَظَلُّ فِيهِ

“We used to perform Friday (prayer) with the Prophet ﷺ, then we would return, and we would not see any shadow from the walls in which we could seek shade.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1100)

كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ الْجُمُعَةَ ثُمَّ نَرْجِعُ وَمَا لِلْحِيطَانِ فَيْءٌ يُسْتَظَلُّ بِهِ

[AI] We used to pray Maghrib prayer with the Prophet ﷺ , then we would go to the market, and even if we were hit with a dirt clod, you would have seen its location.

كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ الْمَغْرِبَ ثُمَّ نَنْصَرِفُ إِلَى السُّوقِ وَلَوْ رُمِيَ بِنَبْلٍ لَأَبْصَرْتُمَوَاقِعَهَا

We used to have a midday nap and take our meals after the Jumua (prayer). (Using translation from Bukhārī 6279)

كُنَّا نَقِيلُ وَنَتَغَدَّى بَعْدَ الْجُمُعَةِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ

[AI] We used to pray with the Prophet ﷺ on Fridays, and there was no shade available for the walls.

«كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَلَيْسَ لِلْحِيطَانِ فَيْءٌ يُسْتَظَلُّ بِهِ»

"We used to pray Jumu'ah with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ then we would go back and tend to our camels." I said: " At what time?" He said: "When the sun had passed its zenith." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1390)

«كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ الْجُمُعَةَ ثُمَّ نَرْجِعُ فَنُرِيحُ نَوَاضِحَنَا» فَقُلْتُ أَيَّةُ سَاعَةٍ تِلْكَ؟ قَالَ «زَوَالُ الشَّمْسِ»

'Mu'adh bin Jabal would pray Al-Maghrib with the Messenger of Allah, then he would return to his people to lead them (in prayer)." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 583)

«أَنَّ مُعَاذَ بْنَ جَبَلٍ كَانَ يُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْمَغْرِبَ ثُمَّ يَرْجِعُ إِلَى قَوْمِهِ فَيَؤُمُّهُمْ»

Salim narrated on the authority of his father that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to observe two rak'ahs after Jumu'a. (Using translation from Muslim 882c)

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَيُصَلِّي بَعْدَ الْجُمُعَةِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ»

[AI] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to pray four (rak'ahs) after Jumu'ah (Friday prayer)."

«أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ نُصَلِّيَ بَعْدَ الْجُمُعَةِ أَرْبَعًا»

"We used to pray Jumu'ah with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ then we would go back and tend to our camels." I said: " At what time?" He said: "When the sun had passed its zenith." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1390)

«كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْجُمُعَةَ ثُمَّ نَرْجِعُ فَنَقِيلُ»

[AI] We used to pray the Maghrib prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and then leave until we reached the marketplace, and indeed he would see the nobility of his character.

«كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الْمَغْرِبَ ثُمَّ نَنْصَرِفُ حَتَّى نَأْتِيَ السُّوقَ وَإِنَّهُ لِيُرَى مَوْقِعُ نَبْلِهِ»

[AI] "We used to have lunch and pray Friday prayers."

«كُنَّا نَتَغَدَّى ونُصَلِّي الْجُمُعَةَ»

[AI] "We used to move after Friday prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."

«كُنَّا نَقِيلُ بَعْدَ الْجُمُعَةِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ»

“We used to perform the Friday (prayer), then we would return for a nap (Qailulah).” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1102)

«كُنَّا نُجَمِّعُ مَعَ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ثُمَّ نَرْجِعُ فَنَقِيلُ»

[AI] "We used to pray with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ without performing ablution from a designated place."

«كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَلَا نَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ مَوْطِئٍ»

[AI] We used to pray with the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , the Maghrib prayer, then we would visit the people of Salimah while observing our positions in the outskirts of the city of Salimah.

كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الْمَغْرِبَ ثُمَّ نَأْتِي بَنِي سَلِمَةَ وَنَحْنُ نُبْصِرُ مَوَاقِعَ نَبْلِنَا فِي بَنِي سَلِمَةَ أَقْصَى الْمَدِينَةِ

[AI] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray Maghrib and men from Banu Salimah used to pray with him while they could locate the positions of the stars."

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُصَلِّي الْمَغْرِبَ وَيُصَلِّي مَعَهُ رِجَالٌ مِنْ بَنِي سَلِمَةَ وَهُمْ يُبْصِرُونَ مَوَاقِعَ النَّبْلِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray Maghrib, then the people would return to their families while observing the locations of the noble ones when they are thrown.

«كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي الْمَغْرِبَ ثُمَّ يَرْجِعُ النَّاسُ إِلَى أَهَالِيهِمْ وَهُمْ يُبْصِرُونَ مَوَاقِعَ النَّبْلِ حِينَ يُرْمَى بِهَا»

[AI] We used to pray Maghrib (evening prayer) with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , then we would go to Bani Salamah, if we had thrown (stones) we would have seen where we hit.

كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الْمَغْرِبَ ثُمَّ نَأْتِي بَنِي سَلَمَةَ فَلَوْ رَمَيْنَا لَرَأَيْنَا مَوَاقِعَ نَبْلِنَا
