[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave me some dates and I placed them in a bag for us. We hung it on the roof of the house and we did not eat from it until the people of Sham (Syria) attacked the city.  

الزهد لأحمد:٩٩١ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُتَوَكِّلِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

أَعْطَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ شَيْئًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ فَجَعَلْتُهُ فِي مِكْتَلٍ لَنَا فَعَلَّقْنَاهُ فِي سَقْفِ الْبَيْتِ فَلَمْ نَزَلْ نَأْكُلُ مِنْهُ آخِرَهُ أَصَابَهُ أَهْلُ الشَّامِ حَيْثُ أَغَارُوا بِالْمَدِينَةِ
