[Machine] I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "O Allah, do not humiliate me on the Day of Calamity, nor on the Day of Resurrection."  

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ «اللهُمَّ لَا تُخْزِنِي يَوْمَ الْبَأْسِ وَلَا تُخْزِنِي يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ»  

[Machine] "The Romans captured the son of Abu Qirsafa, so whenever it was time for prayer, Abu Qirsafa would climb the walls of Asqalan and call out, 'O so-and-so, it's time for prayer,' and he would hear him while he was in Roman territory."  

أَسَرَ الرُّومُ ابْنًا لِأَبِي قِرْصَافَةَ فَكَانَ أَبُو قِرْصَافَةَ إِذَا كَانَ وَقْتُ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ صَعِدَ سُوَرَ عَسْقَلَانَ وَنَادَى يَا فُلَانُ الصَّلَاةَ فَسَمِعَهُ وَهُوَ فِي بَلَدِ الرُّومِ  

[Machine] I prayed behind the Prophet ﷺ and heard him say, 'O Allah, do not disgrace me on the Day of Resurrection, nor on the Day of Judgment.'  

صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ «اللهُمَّ لَا تُخْزِنِي يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَلَا تُخْزِنِي يَوْمَ الْبَأْسِ»  

[Machine] I heard Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Numair saying, "Al-Hasan bin Ali is commonly known as Abu Muhammad."  

سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ يَقُولُ «الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ يُكَنَّى أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ»  

[Machine] Umm al-Fadl came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "I saw some of your body in my dream." He said, "Yes, you saw correctly. Fatimah will bear a son and you will breastfeed him with goat's milk." She then brought the baby to the Prophet ﷺ, who put him in his lap. The baby urinated on him, so she slapped him with her hand. The Prophet ﷺ said, "You have hurt my son. May Allah have mercy on you." She said, "Give me your garment so that I may wash it." He said, "It is only washed with the urine of a young girl and sprinkled with the urine of a boy."  

جَاءَتْ أُمُّ الْفَضْلِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ بَعْضَ جِسْمِكَ فِيَّ فَقَالَ «نِعْمَ مَا رَأَيْتِ تَلِدُ فَاطِمَةُ غُلَامًا وتُرْضِعِينَهُ بِلَبَنِ قُثَمَ» قَالَ فَجَاءَتْ بِهِ تَحْمِلُهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَوَضَعَتْهُ فِي حِجْرِهِ فَبَالَ فَلَطَمَتْهُ بِيَدِهَا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَوْجَعْتِ ابْنِي رَحِمَكِ اللهُ» قَالَتْ هَاتِ إِزَارَكَ حَتَّى نَغْسِلَهُ قَالَ «إِنَّمَا يُغْسَلُ بَوْلُ الْجَارِيَةِ وَيُنْضَحُ بَوْلُ الْغُلَامِ»  

[Machine] And he (referring to the Prophet ﷺ) said, "There is no one like Ali, not even similar to him." He (referring to Ali) was present with him, and he started laughing. All agreed.  

وَقَالَ «بِأَبِي شِبْهُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ لَا شَبِيهُ عَلِيٍّ» قَالَ وَعَلِيٌّ مَعَهُ فَجَعَلَ يَضْحَكُ ؓ أَجْمَعِينَ  

[Machine] Indeed, he used to resemble the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.  

«إِنَّهُ كَانَ يُشْبِهُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ»  

[Machine] "He saw Al-Hasan bin Ali striking his shoulders with his hair."  

أَنَّهُ «رَأَى الْحَسَنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ ؓ يَضْرِبُ شَعْرُهُ مَنْكِبَيْهِ»  

[Machine] The worship of the servant of Hasan, and he is only the servant of Husayn.  

عُبَادَةُ مَوْلَى الْحَسَنِ وَإِنَّمَا هُوَ مَوْلَى الْحُسَيْنِ  

[Machine] I saw Hassan bin Ali dyeing with black.  

«رَأَيْتُ الْحَسَنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ ؓ يَخْضِبُ بِالسَّوَادِ»  

[Machine] "I saw Al-Hassan ibn Ali dyeing his hair with henna and katam."  

«رَأَيْتُ الْحَسَنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ يَخْضِبُ بِالْحِنَّاءِ وَالْكَتَمِ»  

[Machine] "That Hassan bin Ali used to dye (his hair) with black."  

«أَنَّ الْحَسَنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ ؓ كَانَ يَخْضِبُ بِالسَّوَادِ»  

[Machine] That Hasan bin Ali used to dye with black.  

«أَنَّ الْحَسَنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ ؓ كَانَ يَخْضِبُ بِالسَّوَادِ»  

[Machine] He saw Hasan bin Ali, wearing black robes, riding on a black horse.  

أَنَّهُ «رَأَى الْحَسَنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ ؓ مَخْضُوبًا بِالسَّوَادِ عَلَى فَرَسٍ ذَنُوبٍ»  

[Machine] I saw Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn, youthful and not applying any makeup.  

«رَأَيْتُ الْحَسَنَ وَالْحُسَيْنَ ؓ شَابَا وَمَا يَخْضِبَانِ»  

[Machine] "I saw a cap on Hassan's head, for I indeed saw Hassan pulling it down until it was close to him."  

«رَأَيْتُ فِي رَأْسِ الْحَسَنِ قُزْعَةً فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ الْحَسَنَ يَجْبِذُهَا حَتَّى يُدْنِيَهَا»  

[Machine] He said, "Al-Hasan used to seal with his left hand."  

أَنَّهُ قَالَ «كَانَ الْحَسَنُ يَتَخَتَّمُ فِي يَسَارِهِ»  

[Machine] Al-Hasan ibn Ali used to wear a ring on his left hand.  

«كَانَ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ؓ يَتَخَتَّمُ فِي يَسَارِهِ»  

[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I saw in my dream as if a part of your body was in my house, or she said, in my room." He said, "Fatimah will give birth to a boy if Allah wills, and you will be responsible for him." She said, "So Fatimah gave birth to Hasan, and she handed him over to me, and I breastfed him with the milk of Qutham ibn Abbas." She said, "So I brought him one day to the Prophet ﷺ , and he placed him on his chest, and I massaged his back. The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Wait, may Allah have mercy on you, you have hurt my son.' So I said, 'Give me your garment so I can wash it.' He said, 'Do not pour water on it, for it is poured on the urine of the boy, and the urine of a girl is washed.'"  

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ رَأَيْتُ فِي الْمَنَامِ كَأَنَّ عُضْوًا مِنْ أَعْضَائِكَ فِي بَيْتِي أَوْ قَالَتْ فِي حُجْرَتِي فَقَالَ «تَلِدُ فَاطِمَةُ غُلَامًا إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ فَتَكْفُلِينَهُ» قَالَتْ فَوَلَدَتْ فَاطِمَةُ حَسَنًا فَدَفَعَهُ إِلَيْهَا فَأَرْضَعَتْهُ بِلَبَنِ قُثَمَ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ قَالَتْ فَجِئْتُ بِهِ يَوْمًا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَبَالَ عَلَى صَدْرِهِ فَدَحَيْتُ فِي ظَهْرِهِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «مَهْلًا يَرْحَمُكِ اللهُ أَوْجَعْتِ ابْنِي» فَقُلْتُ ادْفَعْ إِلَيَّ إِزَارَكَ فَأَغْسِلَهُ فَقَالَ «لَا صُبِّي عَلَيْهِ الْمَاءَ فَإِنَّهُ يُصَبُّ عَلَى بَوْلِ الْغُلَامِ وَيُغْسَلُ بَوْلُ الْجَارِيَةِ»  

[Machine] I was present with Fatimah when she was struck by labor pains in women, so the Prophet ﷺ came to us and said, "How is she?" I said, "Indeed, she is in labor, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "When she gives birth, do not precede me in doing anything." She gave birth, and they cleaned and wrapped him in a yellow cloth. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and said, "What have you done?" I said, "She has given birth to a boy, and I wrapped him in a cloth." He said, "You have disobeyed me." She said, "I seek refuge in Allah from the disobedience of Allah and the anger of His Messenger." He said, "Bring him to me." So I brought him to him, and he threw away the yellow cloth and wrapped him in a white cloth, and he put his saliva in his mouth and uttered the call to prayer (adhan) in his ear. Then Ali came and said, "What have you named him, O Ali?" He said, "I named him Ja'far, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "No, but Hasan, and after him, Husain, and you are Abu Hasan, the good."  

كُنْتُ فِيمَنْ حَضَرَ فَاطِمَةَ ؓ حِينَ ضَرَبَهَا الْمَخَاضُ فِي نِسْوَةٍ فَأَتَانَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «كَيْفَ هِيَ؟» قُلْتُ إِنَّهَا لَمَجْهُودَةٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ «فَإِذَا هِيَ وَضَعَتْ فَلَا تَسْبِقِينِي فِيهِ بِشَيْءٍ» قَالَتْ فَوَضَعَتْ فَسَرُّوهُ ولَفّفُوهُ فِي خِرْقَةٍ صَفْرَاءَ فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «مَا فَعَلَتْ؟» قُلْتُ قَدْ وَلَدَتْ غُلَامًا وسَرَرْتُهُ ولفَفْتُهُ فِي خِرْقَةٍ قَالَ «عَصَيْتِنِي» قَالَتْ أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنْ مَعْصِيَةِ اللهِ وَمِنْ غَضَبِ رَسُولِهِ قَالَ «ائْتِينِي بِهِ» فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِهِ فَأَلْقَى الْخِرْقَةَ الصَّفْرَاءَ ولَفَّهُ فِي خِرْقَةٍ بَيْضَاءَ وَتَفَلَ فِي فِيهِ وأَلْبَأَهُ بِرِيقِهِ فَجَاءَ عَلِيٌّ ؓ فَقَالَ «مَا سَمَّيْتَهُ يَا عَلِيُّ؟» قَالَ سَمَّيْتُهُ جَعْفَرًا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ «لَا وَلَكِنْ حَسَنٌ وَبَعْدَهُ حُسَيْنٌ وَأَنْتَ أَبُو حَسَنِ الْخَيْرِ»  

[Machine] "He resembled the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , al-Hasan ibn Ali."  

«كَانَ أَشْبَهَهُمْ بِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ؓ»  

that Abu Juhaifah said: "I saw the Prophet ﷺ, and Al-Hasan bin 'Ali resembles him the most." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2827)  

«رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَكَانَ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ يُشْبِهُهُ»  

[Machine] We memorized the likeness of the Prophet, ﷺ , and he said, "If you want to see the likeness of the Prophet, ﷺ , look at Al-Hasan ibn Ali."  

تَذَاكَرْنَا شِبْهَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «إِنْ أَرَدْتُمْ أَنْ تَنْظُرُوا إِلَى شِبْهِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَانْظُرُوا إِلَى الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ؓ»  

[Machine] I Abu Juhaifah said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and Al-Hasan ibn Ali resembled him."  

لِي أَبُو جُحَيْفَةَ «قَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَكَانَ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ يُشْبِهُهُ»  

that Abu Juhaifah said: "I saw the Prophet ﷺ, and Al-Hasan bin 'Ali resembles him the most." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2827)  

«رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَكَانَ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ يُشْبِهُهُ»  

[Machine] I asked Abu Juhaifah, "Did you see the Prophet ﷺ?" He replied, "Yes, and the person who resembled him the most was Al-Hasan bin Ali."  

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ رَأَيْتَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ وَأَشْبَهُ النَّاسِ بِهِ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ؓ»  

that Abu Juhaifah said: "I saw the Prophet ﷺ, and Al-Hasan bin 'Ali resembles him the most." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2827)  

«رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَكَانَ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ يُشْبِهُهُ»  

[Machine] Al-Haytham bin Adi and Khulif.  

الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ عَدِيٍّ وَخُولِفَ  

[Machine] Al-Hasan ibn Ali died in the year forty-eight.  

«مَاتَ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ؓ سَنَةَ ثَمَانٍ وَأَرْبَعِينَ»  

[Machine] Saad and Al-Hasan bin Ali died in the year forty-eight.  

«تُوُفِّيَ سَعْدٌ وَالْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ؓ سَنَةَ ثَمَانٍ وَأَرْبَعِينَ»  

[Machine] "Saad and Al-Hasan bin Ali died after ten years had passed from the reign of Muawiyah."  

«تُوُفِّيَ سَعْدٌ وَالْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ بَعْدَ مَا مَضَى مِنْ إِمْرَةِ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَشْرُ سِنِينَ ؓ»  

[Machine] I heard Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Numayr saying, "Al-Hasan ibn Ali died at the age of forty-seven."  

سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ يَقُولُ «مَاتَ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ؓ وَهُوَ ابْنُ سَبْعٍ وَأَرْبَعِينَ»  

[Machine] I heard Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Numair saying, "Al-Hasan bin Ali died in the year forty-eight."  

سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ يَقُولُ «مَاتَ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ سَنَةَ ثَمَانٍ وَأَرْبَعِينَ»  

[Machine] Al-Hasan bin Ali died in the year forty-nine, and Sa'id bin Al-Aas prayed upon him. His death occurred in Madinah and his age was either sixty six or sixty seven. He was nicknamed Abu Muhammad.  

«تُوُفِّيَ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ سَنَةَ تِسْعٍ وَأَرْبَعِينَ وَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْعَاصِ وَكَانَ مَوْتُهُ بِالْمَدِينَةِ وَسِنُّهُ سِتٌّ أَوْ سَبْعٌ وَأَرْبَعُونَ وَيُكْنَى أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ»  

[Machine] "The turmoil lasted for five years for Al-Hasan ibn Ali, and from that, four months. And the group was with Muawiyah for forty years."  

«كَانَتِ الْفِتْنَةُ خَمْسَ سِنِينَ لِلْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ؓ مِنْ ذَلِكَ أَرْبَعَةُ أَشْهُرٍ وَكَانَتِ الْجَمَاعَةُ عَلَى مُعَاوِيَةَ سَنَةَ أَرْبَعِينَ»  

[Machine] And in it (the year), Al-Hasan ibn Ali and Saad ibn Abi Waqqas died in the year fifty-eight.  

«وَفِيهَا مَاتَ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ وَسَعْدُ بْنُ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ سَنَةَ ثَمَانٍ وَخَمْسِينَ»  

[Machine] He, Muawiyah, when he came to Fiqh, spoke and informed the people that you have surrendered this matter to me. Perhaps Sufyan said, inform the people of this matter that you have left to me. So he stood and spoke from the pulpit and praised Allah and praised him. Al-Sha'bi said, and I am listening, then he said, "As for what follows, the wisest of the wise is piety, and the most foolish of the foolish is immorality. And regarding this matter in which Muawiyah and I disagreed, either it was my right and I left it to Muawiyah out of the intention for the good of this nation and to stop the shedding of their blood, or it was someone else's right and they deserved it more than me, so I did that. "And I do not know, perhaps it is a trial for you and a provision for a while."  

لَهُ مُعَاوِيَةُ إِذَا كَانَ ذَا فَقُمْ فَتَكَلَّمْ وَأَخْبِرِ النَّاسَ أَنَّكَ قَدْ سَلَّمْتَ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ لِي وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ سُفْيَانُ أَخْبِرِ النَّاسَ بِهَذَا الْأَمْرِ الَّذِي تَرَكْتَهُ لِي فَقَامَ فَخَطَبَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَحَمِدَ اللهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ قَالَ الشَّعْبِيُّ وَأَنَا أَسْمَعُ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَمَّا بَعْدُ فَإِنَّ أَكْيَسَ الْكَيْسِ التُّقَى وَإِنَّ أَحْمَقَ الْحُمْقِ الْفُجُورُ وَإِنَّ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ الَّذِي اخْتَلَفْتُ فِيهِ أَنَا وَمُعَاوِيَةُ إِمَّا كَانَ حَقًّا لِي تَرَكْتُهُ لِمُعَاوِيَةَ إِرَادَةَ صَلَاحِ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ وَحَقْنِ دِمَائِهِمْ أَوْ يَكُونُ حَقًّا كَانَ لِامْرِئٍ أَحَقَّ بِهِ مِنِّي فَفَعَلْتُ ذَلِكَ {وَإِنْ أَدْرِي لَعَلَّهُ فِتْنَةٌ لَكُمْ وَمَتَاعٌ إِلَى حِينٍ}  

[Machine] Ali said, "Praise be to Allah! Had we known that, we would not have married his wives or claimed his inheritance."  

أَنَّ عَلِيًّا ؓ يَرْجِعُ قَبْلَ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ فَضَحِكَ وَقَالَ «سُبْحَانَ اللهِ لَوْ عَلِمْنَا ذَلِكَ مَا زَوَّجْنَا نِسَاءَهُ وَلَا سَاهَمْنَا مِيرَاثَهُ»
