" عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّه أَتَى النَّبِىَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّد: عَبْدُ الْمطَّلِبِ كَانَ خَيْرًا لِقَوْمِكَ مِنْكَ، كَانَ يُطعِمُهُم الكَبِدَ والسَّنَامَ، وأَنْتَ تَنْحَرُهُم، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِىُّ ﷺ مَا شَاءَ الله أَنْ يَقولَ، فَقَالَ: مَا تَأمُرُنِى أَنْ أَقُولَ؟ قَالَ: قُل: اللَّهُمَّ قِنِى شَرَّ نَفْسِى وَاعْزِم لِى عَلَى أَرْشَدِ أَمْرِى، قُلْتُ: فَمَا أَقُولُ الآنَ؟ قَالَ: قُل: اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِى مَا أَسْرَرْتُ، وَمَا أَعْلَنْتُ، وَمَا أَخْطأتُ وَمَا عَمَدْتُ، وَمَا عَلِمْتُ وَجهِلْتُ".

He said, "Say, O Allah forgive what ˹I done˺ in secret and in public, and for the sins ˹I've committed˺ and the intentional ˹wrong˺ I committed, and what ˹what I did˺ knowingly and unknowingly."
أَنَّ حُصَيْنًا أَوْ حَصِينًا أَتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: يَا مُحَمَّدُ لَعَبْدُ الْمُطَّلِبِ كَانَ خَيْرًا لِقَوْمِهِ مِنْكَ؛ كَانَ يُطْعِمُهُمُ الْكَبِدَ وَالسَّنَامَ وَأَنْتَ تَنْحَرُهُمْ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ أَنْ يَقُولَ فَقَالَ لَهُ مَا تَأْمُرُنِي أَنْ أَقُولَ؟ قَالَ: «قُلِ اللهُمَّ قِنِي شَرَّ نَفْسِي وَاعْزِمْ لِي عَلَى أَرْشَدِ أَمْرِي۔»
قَالَ: فَانْطَلَقَ فَأَسْلَمَ الرَّجُلُ ثُمَّ جَاءَ فَقَالَ: إِنِّي أَتَيْتُكَ فَقُلْتَ لِي قُلِ اللهُمَّ قِنِي شَرَّ نَفْسِي وَاعْزِمْ لِي عَلَى أَرْشَدِ أَمْرِي، فَمَا أَقُولُ الْآنَ؟ قَالَ: «قُلِ اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي مَا أَسْرَرْتُ وَمَا أَعْلَنْتُ، وَمَا أَخْطَأْتُ وَمَا عَمَدْتُ، وَمَا عَلِمْتُ وَمَا جَهِلْتُ۔»
[Machine] "He came to the Prophet ﷺ before embracing Islam. When he wanted to leave, he asked, "What should I say?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Say, 'O Allah, protect me from the evil of myself and guide me to do what is right.' " He said it and then left without embracing Islam. Later, he embraced Islam and asked the Prophet ﷺ, "What should I say now that I have embraced Islam?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Say, 'O Allah, protect me from the evil of myself and guide me to do what is right. O Allah, forgive me for what I have hidden, what I have made public, what I have done mistakenly, what I have done intentionally, what I have known, and what I have been ignorant of.' "
أَنَّهُ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسْلِمَ فَلَمَّا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنْصَرِفَ قَالَ مَا أَقُولُ؟ قَالَ قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ قِنِي شَرَّ نَفْسِي وَاعْزِمْ لِي عَلَى أَرْشِدِ أَمْرِي فَقَالَهَا ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ وَلَمْ يُسْلِمْ ثُمَّ أَسْلَمَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَمَا أَقُولُ الْآنَ وَقَدْ أَسْلَمْتُ؟ قَالَ قُلْ اللَّهُمَّ قِنِي شَرَّ نَفْسِي وَاعْزِمْ لِي عَلَى أَرْشِدِ أَمْرِي اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي مَا أَسْرَرْتُ وَمَا أَعْلَنْتُ وَمَا أَخْطَأْتُ وَمَا عَمَدْتُ وَمَا عَلِمْتُ وَمَا جَهِلْتُ
ذِكْرُ الْأَمْرِ بِمَا يَجِبُ عَلَى الْمَرْءِ مِنَ الدُّعَاءِ قَبْلَ هِدَايَةِ اللَّهِ إِيَّاهُ لِلْإِسْلَامِ وَبَعْدَهُ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was approached by a man who said, "O Muhammad, Abdul-Muttalib is better for his people than you. He used to give them liver and fat tail for food, while you slaughter animals for them." The Prophet ﷺ replied, "What Allah wills." When the man wanted to leave, he asked, "What should I say?" The Prophet ﷺ advised him to say, "O Allah, protect me from the evil of myself, and help me make the right decisions." The man left without accepting Islam and later returned to the Prophet, saying, "O Messenger of Allah, I came to you and asked you to teach me. You told me to say, "O Allah, protect me from the evil of myself, and help me make the right decisions." Now that I have embraced Islam, what should I say?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Say, "O Allah, protect me from the evil of myself, and help me make the right decisions. O Allah, forgive me for what I have concealed, what I have disclosed, what I have erred, what I have done deliberately, and what I have done unknowingly."
أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ عَبْدُ الْمُطَّلِبِ خَيْرٌ لِقَوْمِهِ مِنْكَ كَانَ يُطْعِمُهُمُ الْكَبِدَ وَالسَّنَامَ وَأَنْتَ تَنْحَرُهُمْ فَقَالَ لَهُ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ فَلَمَّا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنْصَرِفَ قَالَ مَا أَقُولُ؟ قَالَ «قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ قِنِي شَرَّ نَفْسِي وَاعْزِمْ لِي عَلَى أَرْشَدِ أَمْرِي» فَانْطَلَقَ الرَّجُلُ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ أَسْلَمَ وَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي أَتَيْتُكَ فَقُلْتُ عَلِّمْنِي فَقُلْتَ «اللَّهُمَّ قِنِي شَرَّ نَفْسِي وَاعْزِمْ لِي عَلَى أَرْشَدِ أَمْرِي فَمَا أَقُولُ الْآنَ حِينَ أَسْلَمْتُ؟ قَالَ «قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ قِنِي شَرَّ نَفْسِي وَاعْزِمْ لِي عَلَى أَرْشَدِ أَمْرِي اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي مَا أَسْرَرْتُ وَمَا أَعْلَنْتُ وَمَا أَخْطَأْتُ وَمَا عَمَدْتُ وَمَا جَهِلْتُ»

[Machine] Husayn came to the Prophet ﷺ before embracing Islam and said, "O Muhammad, Abd al-Muttalib was better for your people than you. He used to feed them liver and meat, while you slaughter them." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "May Allah say what He wills." Then Husayn said, "O Muhammad, what do you order me to say?" He said, "You say, 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of myself and ask You to determine the right course for me.' " Then Husayn embraced Islam. Afterwards, he came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "I asked you the first time and I say it now, what do you order me to say?" He said, "Say, 'O Allah, forgive what I have kept secret and what I have declared, and what I have erred in, and what I have been ignorant of, and what I have known.'"
جَاءَ حُصَيْنٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسْلِمَ فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ كَانَ عَبْدُ الْمُطَّلِبِ خَيْرًا لِقَوْمِكَ مِنْكَ كَانَ يُطْعِمُهُمُ الْكَبِدَ وَالسَّنَامَ وَأَنْتَ تَنْحَرُهُمْ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ أَنْ يَقُولَ ثُمَّ إِنَّ حُصَيْنًا قَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ مَاذَا تَأْمُرُنِي أَنْ أَقُولَ؟ قَالَ تَقُولُ اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسِي وَأَسْأَلُكَ أَنْ تَعْزِمَ لِي عَلَى رُشْدٍ أَمْرِي ثُمَّ إِنَّ حُصَيْنًا أَسْلَمَ بَعْدُ ثُمَّ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ سَأَلْتُكَ الْمَرَّةَ الْأُولَى وَإِنِّي أَقُولُ الْآنَ مَا تَأْمُرُنِي أَنْ أَقُولَ؟ قَالَ قُلِ اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي مَا أَسْرَرْتُ وَمَا أَعْلَنْتُ وَمَا أَخْطَأْتُ وَمَا جَهِلْتُ وَمَا عَلِمْتُ
"جاءَ حُصَيْن إِلَى النَّبِىِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: مَا تَأمُرنِى أَنْ أَقُولَ؟ قَالَ تَقُول اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّى أعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسِى، وأَسألُكَ أَنْ تَعزِم عَلَى أَرْشدِ أَمْرِى، ثُمَّ إِنَّ حُصَيْنًا أَسْلَمَ بَعْدُ، ثُمَّ أتى النَّبِىَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: إِنِّى كُنْتُ سَأَلْتُكَ الْمَرَّة الأُولى، وَإنِّى الآن أَقُول، مَا تَأمرنِى أقُولُ؟ قَالَ: قلِ اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِى مَا أَسْرَرْتُ وَمَا أَعْلَنْتُ وَمَا أَخْطَأتُ وَمَا عَمْدتُ، وَمَا جَهِلتُ، وَمَا عَلِمْتُ".
