Abu Hurayra reported that the Prophet ﷺ used to say when he left his house, "In the Name of Allah. Reliance is on Allah. There is no power nor strength except by Allah."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ كَانَ إِذَا خَرَجَ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ قَالَ بِسْمِ اللهِ التُّكْلاَنُ عَلَى اللهِ لا حَوْلَ وَلا قُوَّةَ إِلا بِاللَّهِ

The Prophet ﷺ said: "When a man goes out of his house and says:

bismi Allāhi tawakkaltu ʿalā Allāhi, lā ḥawla wa-lā quwwata illā bi-Allāh

(In the name of Allah, I trust in Allah; there is no might and no power but in Allah)

the following will be said to him at that time: "You are guided, defended and protected." The devils will go far from him and another devil will say: How can you deal with a man who has been guided, defended and protected?"

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ: «إِذَا خَرَجَ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ فَقَالَ:

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ لاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ

قَالَ: «يُقَالُ حِينَئِذٍ: هُدِيتَ وَكُفِيتَ وَوُقِيتَ، فَتَتَنَحَّى لَهُ الشَّيَاطِينُ، فَيَقُولُ لَهُ شَيْطَانٌ آخَرُ: كَيْفَ لَكَ بِرَجُلٍ قَدْ هُدِيَ وَكُفِيَ وَوُقِيَ؟».

“Whoever says – that is: when he leaves his house – ‘In the Name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, there is no might or power except by Allah (Bismillāh, tawakkaltu ʿalallāh, lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāh)’ it will be said to him: ‘You have been sufficed and protected,’ and Shaitan will become distant from him.”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ قَالَ يَعْنِي إِذَا خَرَجَ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ لاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ يُقَالُ لَهُ كُفِيتَ وَوُقِيتَ وَتَنَحَّى عَنْهُ الشَّيْطَانُ

“Bismillah, la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah, at-tuklanu ‘ala Allah (In the Name of Allah, there is no power and strength except with Allah, and trust is placed in Allah).”

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا خَرَجَ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ قَالَ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ لاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ التُّكْلاَنُ عَلَى اللَّهِ

“When a man goes out of the door of his house, there are two angels with him who are appointed over him. If he says Bismillah (in the Name of Allah) they say: ‘You have been guided.’ If he says La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah (there is no power and no strength except with Allah), they say: ‘You are protected.’ If he says, Tawwakaltu ‘ala Allah (I have my trust in Allah), they say: ‘You have been taken care of.’ Then his two Qarins (satans) come to him and they (the two angels) say: ‘What do you want with a man who has been guided, protected and taken care of?’”

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا خَرَجَ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ بَابِ بَيْتِهِ أَوْ مِنْ بَابِ دَارِهِ كَانَ مَعَهُ مَلَكَانِ مُوَكَّلاَنِ بِهِ فَإِذَا قَالَ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ قَالاَ هُدِيتَ وَإِذَا قَالَ لاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ قَالاَ وُقِيتَ وَإِذَا قَالَ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ قَالاَ كُفِيتَ قَالَ فَيَلْقَاهُ قَرِينَاهُ فَيَقُولاَنِ مَاذَا تُرِيدَانِ مِنْ رَجُلٍ قَدْ هُدِيَ وَكُفِيَ وَوُقِيَ

“Bismillah, la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah, at-tuklanu ‘ala Allah (In the Name of Allah, there is no power and strength except with Allah, and trust is placed in Allah).” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3885)

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِذَا خَرَجَ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ يَقُولُ «بِسْمِ اللَّهِ لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ التُّكْلَانُ عَلَى اللَّهِ»

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا خَرَجَ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ فَقَالَ «بِسْمِ اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ فَيُقَالُ لَهُ حَسْبُكَ قَدْ كُفِيتَ وَهُدِيتَ وَوُقِيتَ؛ فَيَلْقَى الشَّيْطَانُ شَيْطَانًا آخَرَ فَيَقُولُ لَهُ كَيْفَ * لَكَ بِرَجُلٍ قَدْ كُفِيَ وَهُدِيَ وَوُقِيَ»

[AI] Abdullah used to say, "In the name of Allah, I trust in Allah. There is no power or strength except with Allah," when he left his house. Muhammad ibn Kaab al-Quradhi said, "This is in the Quran: 'Embark upon it in the name of Allah.' And he said, 'Upon Allah we rely.'"

كَانَ عَبْدُ اللهِ إِذَا خَرَجَ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ قَالَ «بِسْمِ اللهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللهِ لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ» فَقَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَعْبٍ الْقُرَظِيُّ هَذَا فِي الْقُرْآنِ {ارْكَبُوا فِيهَا بِسْمِ اللهِ} وَقَالَ عَلَى اللهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say, "When one of you leaves his house, let him say: 'In the name of Allah, I trust in Allah, there is no power or might except with Allah. Whatever Allah wills, I rely on Allah. Allah is sufficient for me and He is the best disposer of affairs.'"

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَقُولُ «إِذَا خَرَجَ أَحَدُكُمْ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ فَلْيَقُلْ بِسْمِ اللهِ لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللهِ حَسْبِي اللهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said: When a person leaves his house and says, "In the name of Allah, I trust in Allah, there is no power or strength except with Allah," it will be said to him, "You have been guided, protected, and sufficed."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا خَرَجَ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ قَالَ بِاسْمِ اللهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللهِ لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ فَيُقَالُ لَهُ حَسْبُكَ هُدِيتَ وَوُقِيتَ وَكُفِيتَ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever says 'In the name of Allah, I trust in Allah. There is no power or strength except with Allah,' it is said to him: 'You have been protected and sufficed.' Hujaj bin Muhammad narrated this from Ibn Jurayj and added: 'When he leaves his house.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ قَالَ بِاسْمِ اللهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللهِ لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ يُقَالُ وُقِيتَ وَكُفِيتَ وَرَوَاهُ حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ وَزَادَ فِيهِ إِذَا خَرَجَ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ

"إِذا خَرجَ الرَّجُلُ منْ بيته، أو أرادَ سفَرًا فقال: بِسْم اللهِ، حسْبِى اللهُ، تَوَكَّلْتُ على الله، قَال الملكُ. كفِيتَ، وَهُديتَ، وَوُقيتَ".

The Prophet ﷺ said: When a man goes out of his house and says: "In the name of Allah, I trust in Allah; there is no might and no power but in Allah," the following will be said to him at that time: "You are guided, defended and protected." The devils will go far from him and another devil will say: How can you deal with a man who has been guided, defended and protected? (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5095)

"إذا خرجَ الرجلُ مِنْ بَيته فقال: بِسْم الله، توَّكلتُ على اللهِ، لا حولَ ولا قوَّةَ إلا بالله، فيقَالُ لَهُ: حسْبُكَ، قَدْ هُديتَ، وَكفِيتَ، ووقيتَ، فيتنحَّى له الشَّيطانُ، فيقولُ لَه شَيطَان آخر: كيُف لكَ برجَلٍ قد هُدِى، وَكُفَى، ووُقِى".

"إِذا خرجَ الرَّجلُ من بابِ بيته أو مِنْ بابِ دَارِهِ كان معه مَلكانِ مُوكَّلانِ به، فإِذا قال: بسْم الله قالا: هُديتَ، وإِذا قال: لا حَوْلَ ولا قوَّةَ إِلا بالله، قالا: وُقِيتَ، وإذا قال: توكلَّتُ على اللهِ قَالا: كُفِيتَ. فتلقَّاهُ قَرِيناهُ فيقولانِ: مَا تُرِيدَان مِنْ رَجُلٍ قد هُدِى، وكفِى، ووُقِى".

"إذا خَرجَ أحدُكُمْ منْ بَيتِه، فليقُل: بسْم اللهِ، لا حْولَ ولا قُوةَ إلَّا بالله، ما شاءَ اللهُ، تَوَكلتُ على اللهِ، حَسْبِى اللهُ وَنِعْمَ الوَكيلُ".

"عَنْ أبِي هُريْرَةَ قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ يَقُولُ إِذَا خَرَجَ مِنْ مَنْزِلِهِ بِسْم الله، التُّكلَان عَلَى الله، لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إلَّا بِالله".
