"عن مجاهد قَالَ: قدم عمرُ بنُ الخطابِ الشام، فوجد رجلًا من المسلمين قتل رجلًا من أهل الذمةِ، فهم أن يُقِيدَه، فقال له زيدُ بن ثابتٍ: أتُقيدُ عبدَك من أخيك؟ فجعله عمر دِيَةً".
