"إِذا حُدِّثْتُمْ عنّى بحديث تَعْرِفُونَهُ ولا تُنكِرُوَنهُ قُلتُه، أوْ لم أقُلهُ فصدِّقُوا به، فإِنِّى أقُولُ ما يُعْرَفُ ولا يُنْكَرُ، وإذَا حُدِّثْتُم عَنِّي بحديث تنكِرونَه، ولا تَعْرِفونه فكَذِّبوا به فإنّى لا أقولُ ما يُنْكرُ ولا يُعْرَفُ" .
