Whenever the dining sheet of the Prophet ﷺ was taken away (i.e., whenever he finished his meal), he used to say: "Al-hamdu li l-lah kathiran taiyiban mubarakan fihi ghaira makfiy wala muWadaʿ wala mustaghna'anhu Rabbuna."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا رَفَعَ مَائِدَتَهُ قَالَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ غَيْرَ مَكْفِيٍّ وَلاَ مُوَدَّعٍ وَلاَ مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ رَبَّنَا

Whenever the Prophet ﷺ finished his meals and he said when his dining sheet was taken away, he used to say. "Praise be to Allah Who has satisfied our needs and quenched our thirst whose praise cannot be said enough nor denied." Once he said, Praise be to Allah, our Lord! Your praise praise cannot be said enough, be granted, nor can be dispensed with, O our Lord!"

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا فَرَغَ مِنْ طَعَامِهِ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً إِذَا رَفَعَ مَائِدَتَهُ قَالَ: «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَفَانَا وَأَرْوَانَا غَيْرَ مَكْفِيٍّ وَلاَ مَكْفُورٍ.» وَقَالَ مَرَّةً: «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّنَا غَيْرَ مَكْفِيٍّ وَلاَ مُوَدَّعٍ وَلاَ مُسْتَغْنًى رَبَّنَا.»

When the food cloth was removed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “praise be to Allah abundantly and sincerely, of such a nature as is productive of blessing, is not insufficient, Abandoned, or ignored, O our lord.”

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا رُفِعَتِ الْمَائِدَةُ قَالَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ غَيْرَ مَكْفِيٍّ وَلاَ مُوَدَّعٍ وَلاَ مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ رَبُّنَا

when the table spread would be lifted from in front of him, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would say: “All praise is due to Allah, abundant, good, blessed praise, without being left off, nor being without need of it, O our Lord (Al-ḥamdulillāhi ḥamdan kathīran ṭayyiban mubārakan fīhi, ghaira muwaddaʿin, wa lā mustaghnan ʿanhu rabbanā).”

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا رُفِعَتِ الْمَائِدَةُ مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ يَقُولُ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ حَمْدًا كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ غَيْرَ مُوَدَّعٍ وَلاَ مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ رَبُّنَا قَالَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ

“Al-hamdu lillahi hamdan kathiran tayyiban mubarakan ghaira makfiyyin wa la muwadda’in wa la mustaghnan ‘anhu, Rabbana (Praise is to Allah, abundant good and blessed praise, a never-ending praise, a praise that we will never bid farewell to and an indispensible praise, He is our Lord).”

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "O Allah, to You be abundant, pure, and blessed praise."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺيَقُولُ اللهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ

[AI] "Indeed, the Prophet, ﷺ , used to say when he finished his meal or when his table was lifted: 'Praise be to Allah abundantly, beautifully, and blessedly. Our Lord, it is not an expiation, nor a farewell, nor something we can do without.'"

He continued repeating them to us until we memorized them."

لَقَدْ قُمْتُ مَقَامِي هَذَا وَمَا أَنَا بِخَطِيبٍ وَمَا أُرِيدُ الْخُطْبَةَ وَلَكِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ عِنْدَ انْقِضَاءِ الطَّعَامِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ غَيْرَ مَكْفِيٍّ وَلَا مُوَدَّعٍ وَلَا مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ قَالَ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يُرَدِّدُهُنَّ عَلَيْنَا حَتَّى حَفِظْنَاهُنَّ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say after finishing his food, "Praise be to Allah, much abundant and pure and blessed praise. It is not enough nor is it temporarily stored, and none can be self-sufficient without it."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ عِنْدَ انْقِضَاءِ الطَّعَامِ «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ حَمْدًا كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ غَيْرَ مَكْفِيٍّ وَلَا مُوَدَّعٍ وَلَا مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ»

[AI] We witnessed a meal at the house of Abdul Alaa, and Abu Umamah was with us. Abu Umamah said, after finishing the food, "When the meal is over, I do not like to be a speaker. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say after finishing the food, 'Praise be to Allah, abundant, pure and blessed praise. A praise that is not temporary or unnecessary.'"

شَهِدْنَا طَعَامًا فِي مَنْزِلِ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى وَمَعَنَا أَبُو أُمَامَةَ فَقَالَ أَبُو أُمَامَةَ عِنْدَ انْقِضَاءِ الطَّعَامِ مَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَكُونَ خَطِيبًا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ عِنْدَ انْقِضَاءِ الطَّعَامِ «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ حَمْدًا كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ غَيْرَ مُوَدَّعٍ وَلَا مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ used to say when the evening came "Praise be to Allah abundantly, beneficial and blessed. Our Lord, You are not in need, nor do You bid farewell, nor is there any neediness without You."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ عِنْدَ انْقِضَاءِ الطَّعَامِ «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ حَمْدًا كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ غَيْرَ مَكْفِيٍّ وَلَا مُوَدَّعٍ وَلَا مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ»

[AI] About the Prophet ﷺ that he used to say after finishing his meal, "Praise be to Allah, abundant, good and blessed praise. Our Lord, it is not sufficient, nor can it be forsaken, nor can we be independent of it."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ عِنْدَ انْقِضَاءِ طَعَامِهِ «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ حَمْدًا كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ غَيْرَ مَكْفِيٍّ وَلَا مُوَدَّعٍ وَلَا مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ رَبَّنَا»

[AI] I heard Abu Umamah Al-Bahili say that the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , used to say when he ate food, "Praise be to Allah, much praise, pure and blessed in it, not diminished, not temporary, and not in need of it."

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا أُمَامَةَ الْبَاهِلِيَّ يَقُولُ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَكَلَ طَعَامًا يَقُولُ «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ حَمْدًا كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ غَيْرَ مَكْفُورٍ وَلَا مُوَدَّعٍ وَلَا مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ used to say, "Praise be to Allah, much abundant, good, blessed praise, not sufficient or dispensed with."

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا شَبِعَ مِنَ الطَّعَامِ قَالَ «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ حَمْدًا كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ غَيْرَ مَكْفِيٍّ وَلَا مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ»
