The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite al-Musabbihat before going to sleep, and say: They contain a verse which is better than a thousand verses. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5057)

nasai-kubra:7973ʿUbaydullāh b. Faḍālah b. Ibrāhīm > ʿAbdullāh > Saʿīd > ʿAyyāsh b. ʿAbbās al-Qitbānī

A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: Teach me to read the Qur'an, Messenger of Allah. He said: Read three surahs which begin with A.L.R. He said: My age is advanced, my mind has become dull (i.e. memory has grown weak), and my tongue has grown heavy). So he said: Then read three surahs which begin with H.M. He repeated the same words. So he said: Read three surahs which begin with the "Glorification of Allah". But he repeated the same excuse. The man then said: Teach me a comprehensive surah, Messenger of Allah. The Prophet ﷺ taught him Surah (99). "When the Earth is shaken with her earthquake". When he finished it, the man said: By Him Who sent you with truth, I shall never add anything to it. Then man then went away. The Prophet ﷺ said twice: The man received salvation. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1399)

nasai-kubra:7974Qutaybah b. Saʿīd > Abū ʿAwānah > Muhājir Abū al-Ḥasan

A man from the companions of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ narrated: I was traveling with the Prophet ﷺ when I heard a man reciting "Say: O disbelievers!" (Kāfirūn, 109:1) until he completed it. The Prophet ﷺ said, "He has been absolved from committing shrik (associating partners with Allah.)" Then we continued our journey and heard another person reciting "Say: He is Allah, the One." (Ikhlāṣ 112:1) The Prophet ﷺ said, "As for this person, his sins have been forgiven."

[Machine] A man got up at night and recited "Say: He is Allah, the One" repeatedly without reciting anything else. When morning came, a man said, "O Messenger of Allah, a man stood up last night from midnight until dawn and recited 'Say: He is Allah, the One' repeatedly without reciting anything else. It is as if this man belittles it." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "By the One in whose hand is my soul, it is equivalent to a third of the Qur'an."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أُنْزِلَتْ عَلَيَّ آيَاتٌ لَمْ يُرَ مِثْلُهُنَّ قَطُّ الْمُعَوِّذَتَيْنِ»

nasai-kubra:7977ʿUbaydullāh b. Saʿīd > ʿAbd al-Raḥman > ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Budayl b. Maysarah from his father > Anas b. Mālik

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Allah has His own people among mankind.' They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, who are they?' He said: 'The people of the Qur'an, the people of Allah and those who are closest to Him.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 215)

[Machine] "Who are these people?" we asked. They replied, "We are the sons of Layth." So, we asked them and asked again. Then we said, "We have come to ask you about the story of Hudhayfah." They said, "We joined Abu Musa's caravan, and the animals became tired in Kufa, so I and my companion sought permission from Abu Musa, and he granted us permission. So, we entered Kufa." I said to my companion, "When the market opens, I will come out to you." He said, "I entered the mosque, and there was a circle of people listening to the speech of a man. So, I stood among them, and then a man came and stood next to me." I said to him, "Who is this?" He said, "Are you Basri?" I said, "Yes." He said, "I knew that you would not ask about this if you were a Kufan." This is Hudhayfah bin al-Yaman. So, I approached him and heard him saying, "People used to ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about good, while I asked him about evil. And I knew that good will not surpass me." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, after this good, is there any evil?" He said, "O Hudhayfah, learn the Book of Allah and follow what is in it three times." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, after this good, is there any evil?" He said, "O Hudhayfah, learn the Book of Allah and follow what is in it three times." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, after this evil, is there any good?" He said, "A truce in which there is deception and a group upon misguidance within it." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, after this good, is there any evil?" He said, "A blind and deaf trial with callers to the gates of Hell, and it is better for you, O Hudhayfah, to die while you have a piece of bread in your hand than to follow any one of them."

I said, "O Messenger of Allah, is there any evil after good?" He replied, "O Hudhayfah, learn the Book of Allah and act upon its teachings." I repeated this question three times, and on the third time he said, "There will be trials and conflicts." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, is there any good after that evil?" If you wear it, she will have nothing of it over her body, and if she wears it, you will have nothing over your body." So that man sat for a long period and then got up, and Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw him going away, so he ordered somebody to call him. When he came, the Prophet ﷺ asked him, " How much of the Qur'an do you know?" He replied, "I know such Surat and such Surat and such Surat," and went on counting it, The Prophet ﷺ asked him, "Can you recite it by heart?" he replied, "Yes." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Go, I have married this lady to you for the amount of the Qur'an you know by heart." (Using translation from Bukhārī 5030)

Behold, my Lord commanded me that I should teach you which you do not know and which He has taught me today. (He has instructed thus): The property which I have conferred upon them is lawful for them. I have created My servants as one having a natural inclination to the worship of Allah but it is Satan who turns them away from the right religion and he makes unlawful what has been declared lawful for them and he commands them to ascribe partnership with Me, although he has no justification for that. And verily, Allah looked towards the people of the world and He showed hatred for the Arabs and the non-Arabs, but with the exception of some remnants from the People of the Book. And He (further) said: I have sent thee (the Holy Prophet) in order to put you to test and put (those to test) through you. And I sent the Book to you which cannot be washed away by water, so that you may recite it while in the state of wakefulness or sleep. Verily, Allah commanded me to burn (kill) the Quraish. I said: My Lord, they would break my head (like the tearing) of bread, and Allah said: You turn them out as they turned you out, you fight against them and We shall help you in this, you should spend and you would be conferred upon. You send an army and I would send an army five times greater than that. Fight against those who disobey you along with those who obey you. The inmates of Paradise are three: One who wields authority and is just and fair, one who Is truthful and has been endowed with power to do good deeds. And the person who is merciful and kind hearted towards his relatives and to every pious Muslim, and one who does not stretch his hand in spite of having a large family to support. And He said: The inmates of Hell are five: the weak who lack power to (avoid evil), the (carefree) who pursue (everything irrespective of the fact that it is good or evil) and who do not have any care for their family or for their wealth. And those dishonest whose greed cannot be concealed even in the case of minor things. And the third. who betray you. morning and evening, in regard to your family and your property. He also made a mention of the miser and the liar and those who are in the habit of abusing people and using obscene and foul language. Abu Ghassan in his narration did not make mention of" Spend and there would be spent for you." (Using translation from Muslim 2865a)

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘There is no envy except in two cases. A man to whom Allah has given (knowledge of) the Qur’an, so he recites it night and day, and a man to whom Allah has given wealth, so he spends it night and day.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 4209)

Envy is not justified but in case of two persons only: one who, having been given (knowledge of) the Qur'an by Allah, recites it during the night and day (and also acts upon it) and a man who, having been given wealth by God, spends it during the night and the day (for the welfare of others. seeking the pleasure of the Lord). [Machine] "I read Surah Al-Baqarah and I had a tied-up horse, and my son Yahya was lying close to me, and he was a little boy. The horse started to move around, so I got up and had no concern except for my son Yahya. Then the horse calmed down. I continued reading and the horse started moving again, so I got up and had no concern except for my son. I continued reading and the horse started moving again, so I raised my head and saw something resembling a shadow with lamps approaching from the sky, which frightened me, so I stopped reading. When morning came, I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and informed him. He said, 'Read, O Abu Yahya.' I said, 'I have already read; the horse started moving and I had no concern except for my son.' He said, 'Read, O son of Hudhayr.' I said, 'I have already read and lifted my head, and I saw something resembling a shadow with lamps, which frightened me.' He said, 'Those were angels who came near to your voice, and if you had continued reading, people would have been able to see them.'"

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: recite Surat al-Nisa’. I asked: Shall I recite to you what was sent down to you? He replied: I like to here it from someone else. So I recited (it) until I reached this verse “How then shall it be when We bring from every people a witness?”. Then I raised my head and saw tears falling from his eyes.
