When I saw that I began to place it before him, and did not eat it (myself). Anas said: It was since then that pumpkin was always my favourite (food).

دَعَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ رَجُلٌ فَانْطَلَقْتُ مَعَهُ فَجِيءَ بِمَرَقَةٍ فِيهَا دُبَّاءٌ فَجَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَأْكُلُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ الدُّبَّاءِ وَيُعْجِبُهُ قَالَ فَلَمَّا رَأَيْتُ ذَلِكَ جَعَلْتُ أُلْقِيهِ إِلَيْهِ وَلاَ أَطْعَمُهُ قَالَ فَقَالَ أَنَسٌ فَمَا زِلْتُ بَعْدُ يُعْجِبُنِي الدُّبَّاءُ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called a man, and he set off, and I went with him. He said, "Bring a container that has a dubba (a type of lizard) in it." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ started eating that dubba and he liked it. When I saw that, I threw it towards him without eating anything from it. Anas said, "I still like it." Sulaiman said, "I narrated this hadith to Sulaiman At-Taymi, who said, 'Whenever Anas ibn Malik brought us food during the time of the dubba, we would always find it in his meal.'"  

أحمد:١٣٣٥٩حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

دَعَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَجُلٌ فَانْطَلَقَ وَانْطَلَقْتُ مَعَهُ قَالَ فَجِيءَ بِمَرَقَةٍ فِيهَا دُبَّاءٌ فَجَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَأْكُلُ ذَلِكَ الدُّبَّاءَ وَيُعْجِبُهُ فَلَمَّا رَأَيْتُ ذَلِكَ جَعَلْتُ أُلْقِيهِ إِلَيْهِ وَلَا أَطْعَمُ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا فَقَالَ أَنَسٌ فَمَا زِلْتُ أُحِبُّهُ قَالَ سُلَيْمَانُ فَحَدَّثْتُ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ سُلَيْمَانَ التَّيْمِيَّ فَقَالَ مَا أَتَيْنَا أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ قَطُّ فِي زَمَانِ الدُّبَّاءِ إِلَّا وَجَدْنَاهُ فِي طَعَامِهِ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ invited a man, so I went with him. They brought a dish that had a lizard in it, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ began to eat from that lizard and liked it. Anas said: "When I saw that, I started to throw it towards him and not feed him." The wording of the hadith is for Abu Usamah.
