that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he had mounted his camel, setting out on a journey, would say “Allāhu Akbar” three times, then say:

subḥāna alladhī sakhkhara lanā hādhā, wa-mā kunnā lahu muqrinīn, wa-innā ilā rabbinā la-munqalibūn. allāhumma innā nasʾaluka fī safarinā hādhā al-birra wa-l-taqwā, wa-min al-ʿamali mā tarḍā. allāhumma hawwin ʿalaynā safaranā hādhā, wa-ṭwi ʿannā buʿdah. allāhumma anta al-ṣāḥibu fī al-safar, wa-l-khalīfatu fī al-ahl. allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika min waʿthāʾi al-safar, wa-kaʾābati al-manẓar, wa-sūʾi al-munqalabi fī al-māli wa-l-ahl

“Glory be to the One who has subjected this to us, for we could never have managed it on our own; and indeed, to our Lord we shall surely return. O Allah, we ask You on this journey of ours for righteousness and piety, and for deeds that please You. O Allah, make this journey easy for us, and fold up its distance for us. O Allah, You are the Companion in travel and the Successor over the family. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardship of travel, from a gloomy sight, and from a bad return in wealth and family.”

And when he returned, he would say them as well, adding:

“Returning, repenting, worshipping, praising our Lord,” ˹after the beginning ayah of the Quran in this dua˺.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا اسْتَوَى عَلَى بَعِيرِهِ خَارِجًا إِلَى سَفَرٍ كَبَّرَ ثَلَاثًا، ثُمَّ قَالَ:

«{سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا، وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ، وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ}. اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ فِي سَفَرِنَا هَذَا الْبِرَّ وَالتَّقْوَى، وَمِنَ الْعَمَلِ مَا تَرْضَى. اللَّهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا سَفَرَنَا هَذَا، وَاطْوِ عَنَّا بُعْدَهُ. اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ، وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ. اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ، وَكَآبَةِ الْمَنْظَرِ، وَسُوءِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ فِي الْمَالِ وَالْأَهْلِ».

وَإِذَا رَجَعَ قَالَهُنَّ، وَزَادَ فِيهِنَّ: «آيِبُونَ، تَائِبُونَ، عَابِدُونَ، لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُونَ».

Abdullah b. Sarjis (Allah be pleased with him) reported that when Messenger of Allah ﷺ set forth on a journey, he sought refuge (with Allah) from the hardships of the travelling, and finding of evil changes on return, and disgrace after honour, and the curse of the oppressed and a gloomy sad scene in family and property.

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا سَافَرَ يَتَعَوَّذُ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ وَالْحَوْرِ بَعْدَ الْكَوْرِ وَدَعْوَةِ الْمَظْلُومِ وَسُوءِ الْمَنْظَرِ فِي الأَهْلِ وَالْمَالِ

When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ proceeded on journey, he would say: O Allah, Thou art the Companion in the journey, and the One Who looks after the family; O Allah, I seek refuge in Thee from the difficulty of travelling, finding harm when I return, and unhappiness in what I see coming to my family and property. O Allah, make the length of his journey short for us, and the journey easy for us.

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا سَافَرَ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الأَهْلِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ وَسُوءِ الْمَنْظَرِ فِي الأَهْلِ وَالْمَالِ اللَّهُمَّ اطْوِ لَنَا الأَرْضَ وَهَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا السَّفَرَ

When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sat on his camel to go out on a journey, he said: "Allah is Most Great" three times. Then he said: "Glory be to Him Who has made subservient to us, for we had not the strength for it, and to our Lord do we return. O Allah, we ask Thee in this journey of ours, uprightness, piety and such deeds as are pleasing to Thee. O Allah, make easy for us this journey of ours and make its length short for us. O Allah, Thou art the Companion in the journey, and the One Who looks after the family and property in our absence." When he returned, he said these words adding: "Returning, repentant, serving and praising our Lord." The Prophet ﷺ and his armies said: "Allah is Most Great" when they went up to high ground; and when armies said: "Allah is most Great" when they went up to high ground; and when they descended, they said: "Glory be to Allah." So the prayer was patterned on that.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا اسْتَوَى عَلَى بَعِيرِهِ خَارِجًا إِلَى سَفَرٍ كَبَّرَ ثَلاَثًا ثُمَّ قَالَ { سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ * وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ } اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ فِي سَفَرِنَا هَذَا الْبِرَّ وَالتَّقْوَى وَمِنَ الْعَمَلِ مَا تَرْضَى اللَّهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا سَفَرَنَا هَذَا اللَّهُمَّ اطْوِ لَنَا الْبُعْدَ اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الأَهْلِ وَالْمَالِ وَإِذَا رَجَعَ قَالَهُنَّ وَزَادَ فِيهِنَّ آيِبُونَ تَائِبُونَ عَابِدُونَ لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُونَ وَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَجُيُوشُهُ إِذَا عَلَوُا الثَّنَايَا كَبَّرُوا وَإِذَا هَبَطُوا سَبَّحُوا فَوُضِعَتِ الصَّلاَةُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ

“When the Prophet ﷺ would travel, and he would mount his riding camel, he would gesture with his finger” – and Shuʿbah stretched out his finger – “and say: ‘O Allah You are the companion on the journey, and the caretaker for the family, O Allah, accompany us with Your protection, and return us in security, O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the difficulties of the journey, and from returning in great sadness (Allāhumma antaṣ-ṣāḥibu fis safari wal-khalīfatu fil-ahli, Allāhumma aṣḥabnā bi nuṣḥika waqlibnā bi-dhimmah, Allāhummazwi lanal-arḍa wa hawwin ʿalainas-safar, Allāhumma innī a’ūdhu bika min waʿthā’is-safari wa ka’ābatil-munqalab).’”

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا سَافَرَ فَرَكِبَ رَاحِلَتَهُ قَالَ بِأُصْبُعِهِ وَمَدَّ شُعْبَةُ بِأُصْبُعِهِ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الأَهْلِ اللَّهُمَّ اصْحَبْنَا بِنُصْحِكَ وَاقْلِبْنَا بِذِمَّةٍ اللَّهُمَّ ازْوِ لَنَا الأَرْضَ وَهَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا السَّفَرَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ

When the Prophet ﷺ wanted to travel, he would say: “O Allah, You are the companion on the journey, and the caretaker for the family, O Allah, accompany us in our journey, and watch over our families, O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the difficulties of the journey, and from returning in great sadness, and from loss after increase, and from the supplication of the oppressed, and from someone looking with evil at our families and wealth (Allāhumma antaṣ-ṣāḥibu fis safari wal-khalīfatu fil-ahli, allāhumma aṣḥabnā fī safarinā wakhlufnā fī ahlinā. Allāhumma innī a’ūdhu bika min waʿthā’is-safari wa ka’ābatil-munqalab, wa minal-ḥawri baʿdal-kawni, wa min daʿwatil-maẓlūm, wa min sū’il-manẓari fil-ahli wal-māl).”

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا سَافَرَ يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الأَهْلِ اللَّهُمَّ اصْحَبْنَا فِي سَفَرِنَا وَاخْلُفْنَا فِي أَهْلِنَا اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ وَمِنَ الْحَوْرِ بَعْدَ الْكَوْنِ وَمِنْ دَعْوَةِ الْمَظْلُومِ وَمِنْ سُوءِ الْمَنْظَرِ فِي الأَهْلِ وَالْمَالِ قَالَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ قَالَ وَيُرْوَى الْحَوْرِ بَعْدَ الْكَوْرِ أَيْضًا قَالَ وَمَعْنَى قَوْلِهِ الْحَوْرِ بَعْدَ الْكَوْنِ أَوِ الْكَوْرِ وَكِلاَهُمَا لَهُ وَجْهٌ يُقَالُ إِنَّمَا هُوَ الرُّجُوعُ مِنَ الإِيمَانِ إِلَى الْكُفْرِ أَوْ مِنَ الطَّاعَةِ إِلَى الْمَعْصِيَةِ إِنَّمَا يَعْنِي الرُّجُوعَ مِنْ شَيْءٍ إِلَى شَيْءٍ مِنَ الشَّرِّ

When the Prophet ﷺ wanted to travel, when he mounted his riding camel, he would say the Takbir three times and say: Glory is to Him Who has subjected this to us, and we were not able to do it. And, surely, to our Lord are we returning (Subḥān alladhī sakh-khara lanā hādhā wa mā kunnā lahū muqrinīn. Wa innā ilā rabbinā lamunqalibūn). Then he would say: “O Allah, I ask You in this journey of mine from the righteousness and piety and actions that which you are pleased with. O Allah, ease for us the path, and make near for us the distance of the land. O Allah, You are the companion in the journey, and the caretaker for the family. O Allah, accompany us in our journey, and take care of our families (Allāhumma innī as’aluka fī safarī hādhā minal-birri wat-taqwā, wa minal-ʿamali mā tarḍā. Allāhumma hawwin ʿalainal-masīra, waṭwi ʿannā buʿdal-arḍ. Allāhumma antaṣ-ṣāḥibu fis safari wal-khalīfatu fil-ahli. Allāhumma aṣḥabnā fī safarinā wakhlufnā fī ahlinā).” And when he would return to his family, he would say: “(We are) Returning, if Allah wills, repenting, worshipping, and to our Lord directing the praise (Ā’ibūna in shā’ Allāh, tā’ibūna ʿābidūna lirabbinā hāmidūn).”

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا سَافَرَ فَرَكِبَ رَاحِلَتَهُ كَبَّرَ ثَلاَثًا وَيَقُولُ ( سبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ * وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ ) ثُمَّ يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ فِي سَفَرِي هَذَا مِنَ الْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَى وَمِنَ الْعَمَلِ مَا تَرْضَى اللَّهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا الْمَسِيرَ وَاطْوِ عَنَّا بُعْدَ الأَرْضِ اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الأَهْلِ اللَّهُمَّ اصْحَبْنَا فِي سَفَرِنَا وَاخْلُفْنَا فِي أَهْلِنَا وَكَانَ يَقُولُ إِذَا رَجَعَ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ آيِبُونُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ تَائِبُونَ عَابِدُونَ لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُونَ

When the Messenger of Allah [SAW] traveled, he would say: "Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min wa'tha'is-safari, wa kabatil-munqalabi, wal-hawri ba'dal-kawri, wa da'watil-mazlumi, wa suw'il-munzari fil-ahli wal-mal (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the hardships of travel and the sorrows of return, from loss after plenty, from the supplication of the one who has been wronged, and seeing some calamity befall my family or wealth.)"

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا سَافَرَ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ وَالْحَوْرِ بَعْدَ الْكَوْرِ وَدَعْوَةِ الْمَظْلُومِ وَسُوءِ الْمَنْظَرِ فِي الأَهْلِ وَالْمَالِ

When the Messenger of Allah [SAW] traveled, he would say: "Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min wa'tha'is-safari, wa kabatil-munqalabi, wal-hawri ba'dal-kawri, wa da'watil-mazlumi, wa su'il-munzari fil-ahli wal-mali wal-walad (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the hardships of travel and the sorrows of return, from loss after plenty, from the supplication of the one who has been wronged, and seeing some calamity befall my family or wealth or child.)"

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا سَافَرَ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ وَالْحَوْرِ بَعْدَ الْكَوْرِ وَدَعْوَةِ الْمَظْلُومِ وَسُوءِ الْمَنْظَرِ فِي الأَهْلِ وَالْمَالِ وَالْوَلَدِ

"When the Messenger of Allah [SAW] traveled and rode his mount, he gestured with his finger - and Shu'bah (one of the narrators) stretched out his finger - and said: 'Allahumma, antas-sahibu fis-safari wal-khalifatu fil-ahli wal-mal. Allahumma, inni a'udhu bika min wa'tha'is-safari, wa kabatil-munqalabi (O Allah, You are our help when we are traveling and the One Who takes care of our families and wealth (in our absence). O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardships of travel and the sorrows of return.)'"

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا سَافَرَ فَرَكِبَ رَاحِلَتَهُ قَالَ بِإِصْبَعِهِ وَمَدَّ شُعْبَةُ بِإِصْبَعِهِ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الأَهْلِ وَالْمَالِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say” – and (one of the narrators) ‘Abdur-Rahim said: “he used to seek refuge” – “when he traveled: ‘Allahumma inni a’udhu bika min wa’tha’is-safar, wa ka’abatil-munqalab, wal-hawri ba’dal-kawr, wa da’watil-mazlum, wa su’il-manzari fil-ahli wal-mal (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the hardships of travel and the sorrows of return, from decrease after increase, from the prayer of the one who has been wronged, and seeing some calamity befall my family or wealth).’” (One of the narrators) Abu Mu’awiyah added: “And when he returned he said likewise.”

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ وَقَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ يَتَعَوَّذُ إِذَا سَافَرَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ وَالْحَوْرِ بَعْدَ الْكَوْرِ وَدَعْوَةِ الْمَظْلُومِ وَسُوءِ الْمَنْظَرِ فِي الأَهْلِ وَالْمَالِ وَزَادَ أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ فَإِذَا رَجَعَ قَالَ مِثْلَهَا

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say” – and (one of the narrators) ‘Abdur-Rahim said: “he used to seek refuge” – “when he traveled: ‘Allahumma inni a’udhu bika min wa’tha’is-safar, wa ka’abatil-munqalab, wal-hawri ba’dal-kawr, wa da’watil-mazlum, wa su’il-manzari fil-ahli wal-mal (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the hardships of travel and the sorrows of return, from decrease after increase, from the prayer of the one who has been wronged, and seeing some calamity befall my family or wealth).’” (One of the narrators) Abu Mu’awiyah added: “And when he returned he said likewise.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3888)

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا سَافَرَ قَالَ «اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ وَالْحَوْرِ بَعْدَ الْكَوْرِ وَدَعْوَةِ الْمَظْلُومِ وَسُوءِ الْمَنْظَرِ فِي الْأَهْلِ وَالْمَالِ»

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا سَافَرَ فَرَكِبَ رَاحِلَتَهُ كَبَّرَ ثَلَاثًا وَيَقُولُ {سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ} [الزخرف 14] اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ فِي سَفَرِي هَذَا الْبِرَّ وَالتَّقْوَى وَمِنَ الْعَمَلِ مَا تَرْضَى اللَّهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا السَّفَرَ وَاطْوِ لَنَا بُعْدَ الْأَرْضِ اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ اللَّهُمَّ اصْحَبْنَا فِي سَفَرِنَا وَاخْلُفْنَا فِي أَهْلِنَا بِخَيْرٍ

[AI] When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would intend to set out on a journey, he would say, "O Allah, You are our companion in the journey and the successor in the family. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardships of travel and the distress of returning. O Allah, make the journey easy for us and shorten the distance. And when he would intend to return, he would say, 'Returning, repenting, worshipping, and praising our Lord.' And when he would enter his home, he would say, 'Seeking forgiveness, seeking forgiveness for our Lord, there is no turning away from us today.'

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ إِلَى سَفَرٍ قَالَ اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الضُّبْنَةِ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْكَآبَةِ فِي الْمُنْقَلَبِ اللهُمَّ اطْوِ لَنَا الْأَرْضَ وَهَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا السَّفَرَ وَإِذَا أَرَادَ الرُّجُوعَ قَالَ آيِبُونَ تَائِبُونَ عَابِدُونَ لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُونَ وَإِذَا دَخَلَ أَهْلَهُ قَالَ تَوْبًا تَوْبًا لِرَبِّنَا أَوْبًا لَا يُغَادِرُ عَلَيْنَا حَوْبًا

O Allah, ease for us the path, and make near for us the distance of the land. O Allah, You are the companion in the journey, and the caretaker for the family. O Allah, accompany us in our journey, and take care of our families (Allāhumma innī as’aluka fī safarī hādhā minal-birri wat-taqwā, wa minal-ʿamali mā tarḍā. Allāhumma hawwin ʿalainal-masīra, waṭwi ʿannā buʿdal-arḍ. Allāhumma antaṣ-ṣāḥibu fis safari wal-khalīfatu fil-ahli. Allāhumma aṣḥabnā fī safarinā wakhlufnā fī ahlinā).” And when he would return to his family, he would say: “(We are) Returning, if Allah wills, repenting, worshipping, and to our Lord directing the praise (Ā’ibūna in shā’ Allāh, tā’ibūna ʿābidūna lirabbinā hāmidūn).” (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3447)

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا رَكِبَ رَاحِلَتَهُ كَبَّرَ ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ قَالَ {سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ} [الزخرف 14] ثُمَّ يَقُولُ اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ فِي سَفَرِي هَذَا الْبِرَّ وَالتَّقْوَى وَمِنَ الْعَمَلِ مَا تَرْضَى اللهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا السَّفَرَ وَاطْوِ لَنَا الْبَعِيدَ اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ اللهُمَّ اصْحَبْنَا فِي سَفَرِنَا وَاخْلُفْنَا فِي أَهْلِنَا وَكَانَ إِذَا رَجَعَ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ قَالَ آيِبُونَ تَائِبُونَ إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ عَابِدُونَ لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُونَ

Hallowed is He Who subdued for us this (ride) and we were not ourselves powerful enough to use It as a ride, and we are going to return to our Lord. O Allah, we seek virtue and piety from Thee in this journey of ours and the act which pleaseth Thee. O Allah, lighten this journey of ours, and make its distance easy for us. O Allah, Thou art (our) companion during the journey, and guardian of (our) family. O Allah, I seek refuge with Thee from hardships of the journey, gloominess of the sights, and finding of evil changes in property and family on return. And he (the Holy Prophet) uttered (these words), and made this addition to them: We are returning, repentant, worshipping our Lord. and praising Him. (Using translation from Muslim 1342)

[AI] It was narrated that when the Prophet ﷺ used to embark on a journey, he would ride his riding animal and say, "O Allah, You are the Companion during the journey and the Guardian of the family. And he once said, "And I see that he means, he said, "And the one carrying on the back, O Allah, accompany us with righteousness and turn our hearts towards obedience. We seek refuge in You from the difficulties of the journey and the hardships of returning."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا خَرَجَ سَفَرًا فَرَكِبَ رَاحِلَتَهُ قَالَ اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ قَالَ وَأُرَاهُ يَعْنِي قَالَ وَالْحَامِلُ عَلَى الظَّهْرِ اللهُمَّ اصْحَبْنَا بِنُصْحٍ وَاقْلِبْنَا بِذِمَّةٍ نعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِالْمُنْقَلَبِ

When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ proceeded on journey, he would say: O Allah, Thou art the Companion in the journey, and the One Who looks after the family; O Allah, I seek refuge in Thee from the difficulty of travelling, finding harm when I return, and unhappiness in what I see coming to my family and property. O Allah, make the length of his journey short for us, and the journey easy for us. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2598)

When the Messenger of Allah [SAW] traveled, he would say: "Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min wa'tha'is-safari, wa kabatil-munqalabi, wal-hawri ba'dal-kawri, wa da'watil-mazlumi, wa suw'il-munzari fil-ahli wal-mal (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the hardships of travel and the sorrows of return, from loss after plenty, from the supplication of the one who has been wronged, and seeing some calamity befall my family or wealth.)" كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا سَافَرَ قَالَ اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ وَالْحَوْرِ بَعْدَ الْكَوْرِ وَدَعْوَةِ الْمَظْلُومِ وَسُوءِ الْمَنْظَرِ فِي الْأَهْلِ وَالْمَالِ

[AI] Aasim, who has seen the Prophet ﷺ , used to say when going on a journey: "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the difficulties of travel, the distressful return, and the sight of the afflicted, and from the evil consequences upon wealth and family." And when he would return, he would say the same except that he would start with "the evil consequences upon the family and wealth."

عَاصِمٌ وَقَدْ كَانَ رَأَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا خَرَجَ فِي سَفَرٍ قَالَ اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ وَالْحَوْرِ بَعْدَ الْكَوْرِ وَدَعْوَةِ الْمَظْلُومِ وَسُوءِ الْمَنْظَرِ فِي الْمَالِ وَالْأَهْلِ وَإِذَا رَجَعَ قَالَ مِثْلَهَا إِلَّا أَنَّهُ يَقُولُ وَسُوءِ الْمَنْظَرِ فِي الْأَهْلِ وَالْمَالِ يَبْدَأُ بِالْأَهْلِ

[AI] He witnessed the Prophet ﷺ saying, "When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to travel, he would say, 'O Allah, You are the companion in the journey and the successor in the family. O Allah, accompany us in our journey and leave us in our families. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the difficulties of travel, the discomforts of returning home, being in a foreign land after our own, the supplication of the oppressed, and the hardships in family and wealth.' It was asked to Asim about 'the discomforts of returning home', and he said, 'It means the heat after what was before it.'"

أَنَّهُ كَانَ رَأَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا سَافَرَ قَالَ اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ اللهُمَّ اصْحَبْنَا فِي سَفَرِنَا وَاخْلُفْنَا فِي أَهْلِنَا اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ وَمِنَ الْحَوْرِ بَعْدَ الْكَوْرِ وَدَعْوَةِ الْمَظْلُومِ وَسُوءِ الْمَنْظَرِ فِي الْأَهْلِ وَالْمَالِ قَالَ وَسُئِلَ عَاصِمٌ عَنِ الْحَوْرِ بَعْدَ الْكَوْرِ؟ قَالَ حَارَ بَعْدَ مَا كَانَ

[AI] "I take hold of the reins of the camel and accompany it until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mounts it. He then says, "O Allah, You are our companion in travel and the successor to our families. O Allah, accompany us with companionship, facilitate our journey, O Allah, grant me the keys to the earth, and make our travel easy for us. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardships of travel and the distress of return." Abu Zur'ah (narrator of the hadith) said, "Abu Huraira was an Arab man, if he wanted to say 'hardships of travel' he would have said, 'O Allah, make our travel easy for us.'"

إِنِّي لَآخِذٌ بِخِطَامِ النَّاقَةِ لَازِمُهَا حَتَّى اسْتَوَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَلَيْهَا فَقَالَ «اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ اللَّهُمَّ اصْحَبْنَا بِصُحْبَةِ وَاقْلِبْنَا بِذِمَّةٍ اللَّهُمَّ ارْزُقْنِي قُفْلَ الْأَرْضِ وَهَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا السَّفَرَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ» قَالَ أَبُو زُرْعَةَ وَكَانَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ رَجُلًا عَرَبِيًّا لَوْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَقُولَ وَعْثَاءَ السَّفَرِ لَقَالَ اللَّهُمَّ اقْلِبْنَا بِذِمَّةٍ اللَّهُمَّ ازْوِ لَنَا الْأَرْضَ وَسَيِّرْنَا فِيهَا

[AI] "When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ intended to embark on a journey, he would say, 'O Allah, You are the Companion on the journey, and the Guardian of the family. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from experiencing fatigue during the journey and feeling sadness upon returning. O Allah, make the travel easy for us and bring us back home safely.'

And when he intended to return, he would say, 'Returning, repenting, worshiping, and prostrating to our Lord.'

And when he entered his house, he would say, 'Returning, repenting to our Lord, and pardoning that which does not harm us.'"

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ فِي سَفَرِهِ قَالَ «اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الضِّبْنَةِ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْكَآبَةِ فِي الْمُنْقَلَبِ اللَّهُمَّ اقْبِضْ لَنَا الْأَرْضَ وَهَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا السَّفَرَ» فَإِذَا أَرَادَ الرُّجُوعَ قَالَ «آيِبُونَ تَائِبُونَ عَابِدُونَ لِرَبِّنَا سَاجِدُونَ» فَإِذَا دَخَلَ بَيْتَهُ قَالَ «تَوْبًا تَوْبًا لِرَبِّنَا أَوْبًا لَا يُغَادِرُ عَلَيْنَا حَوْبًا»

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كان إذا أراد سفرا قال اللهم أنت الصاحب في السفر والخليفة في الأهل اللهم إني أعوذ بك من وعثاء السفر وكآبة المنقلب وسوء المنظر في الأهل والمال اللهم اطو لنا الأرض وهون علينا السفر

قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إذا أراد سفرا قال اللهم أنت الصاحب في السفر والخليفة في الأهل اللهم اصحبنا بنجح هكذا أحسبه أو نحو هذه الكلمة واقلبنا بذمة اللهم زو لنا الأرض وهون علينا السفر اللهم إني اعوذ بك من وعثاء السفر وكآبة المنقلب وَهَذَا الحديثُ لاَ نَعْلَمْهُ يُرْوَى عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ بِهَذَا اللَّفْظِ إلاَّ مِنْ هَذَا الوَجْه

[AI] "When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wanted to go on a journey, he would say, 'O Allah, You are my companion on the journey and the vicegerent in my family. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardships of travel and the sorrow of returning. O Allah, make the distance short for us and make the journey easy for us.' And when he returned, he would say, 'We are returning, repenting, worshipping, and praising our Lord.' And when he entered his home, he would say, 'We have returned, seeking repentance, with our Lord, seeking forgiveness.'"

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ فِي سَفَرٍ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ اللهُمَّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الضُّبْنَةِ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْكَآبَةِ فِي الْمُنْقَلَبِ اللهُمَّ اقْبِضْ لَنَا الْأَرْضَ وَهَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا السَّفَرَ» فَإِذَا رَجَعَ قَالَ «آيِبُونَ تَائِبُونَ عَابِدُونَ لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُونَ» فَإِذَا دَخَلَ أَهْلُهُ قَالَ «أَوْبًا أَوْبًا لِرَبِّنَا تَوْبًا لَا يُغَادِرُ عَلَيْنَا حَوبًا»

"When the Messenger of Allah [SAW] traveled and rode his mount, he gestured with his finger - and Shu'bah (one of the narrators) stretched out his finger - and said: 'Allahumma, antas-sahibu fis-safari wal-khalifatu fil-ahli wal-mal. Allahumma, inni a'udhu bika min wa'tha'is-safari, wa kabatil-munqalabi (O Allah, You are our help when we are traveling and the One Who takes care of our families and wealth (in our absence). O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardships of travel and the sorrows of return.)'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5501)

Allahumma, inni a'udhu bika min wa'tha'is-safari, wa kabatil-munqalabi (O Allah, You are our help when we are traveling and the One Who takes care of our families and wealth (in our absence). O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardships of travel and the sorrows of return.)'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5501)

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا سَافَرَ فَرَكِبَ رَاحِلَتَهُ قَالَ بِإِصْبَعِهِ وَمَدَّ شُعْبَةُ بِأُصْبُعِهِ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ اللهُمَّ ازْوِ لَنَا الْأَرْضَ وَهَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا السَّفَرَ اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ»

قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَرْجِسٍ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا سَافَرَ يَقُولُ «اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ اللهُمَّ اصْحَبْنَا فِي سَفَرِنَا وَاخْلُفْنَا فِي أَهْلِنَا اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ وَالْحَوْرِ بَعْدَ الْكَوْرِ وَدَعْوَةِ الْمَظْلُومِ وَسُوءِ الْمَنْظَرِ فِي الْأَهْلِ وَالْمَالِ»

When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ proceeded on journey, he would say: O Allah, Thou art the Companion in the journey, and the One Who looks after the family; O Allah, I seek refuge in Thee from the difficulty of travelling, finding harm when I return, and unhappiness in what I see coming to my family and property. O Allah, make the length of his journey short for us, and the journey easy for us. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2598)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ إِذَا سَافَرَ «اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ وَسُوءِ الْمَنْظَرِ فِي الْأَهْلِ وَالْمَالِ اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ وَالْمَالِ اللهُمَّ اطْوِ لَنَا الْأَرْضَ وَهَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا السَّفَرَ»

[AI] "When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would leave for a journey, he would say, 'O Allah, grant us a safe journey that brings us the best forgiveness and pleasure from You. O Allah, in Your hand is all good, and You are able to do all things. O Allah, You are our companion on the journey and the guardian of our family. O Allah, make the journey easy for us and shorten the distance. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the difficulties of travel and the change in conditions.'"

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا خَرَجَ إِلَى سَفَرٍ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ بَلَاغًا يَبْلُغُ خَيْرًا مَغْفِرَةً مِنْكَ وَرِضْوَانًا بِيَدِكَ الْخَيْرُ إِنَّكَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ اللهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا السَّفَرَ وَاطْوِ لَنَا الْأَرْضَ اللهُمَّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ»

“When the Prophet ﷺ would travel, and he would mount his riding camel, he would gesture with his finger” – and Shuʿbah stretched out his finger – “and say: ‘O Allah You are the companion on the journey, and the caretaker for the family, O Allah, accompany us with Your protection, and return us in security, O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the difficulties of the journey, and from returning in great sadness (Allāhumma antaṣ-ṣāḥibu fis safari wal-khalīfatu fil-ahli, Allāhumma aṣḥabnā bi nuṣḥika waqlibnā bi-dhimmah, Allāhummazwi lanal-arḍa wa hawwin ʿalainas-safar, Allāhumma innī a’ūdhu bika min waʿthā’is-safari wa ka’ābatil-munqalab).’” (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3438)

O Allah, Thou art (our) companion during the journey, and guardian of (our) family. O Allah, I seek refuge with Thee from hardships of the journey, gloominess of the sights, and finding of evil changes in property and family on return. And he (the Holy Prophet) uttered (these words), and made this addition to them: We are returning, repentant, worshipping our Lord. and praising Him. (Using translation from Muslim 1342)

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ used to say when traveling: "O Allah, You are our companion in the journey, and the successor in our family. O Allah, accompany us on our journey and be our successor in our family. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardship of travel, the melancholy of returning home, the torment of misfortune after prosperity, the supplication of the oppressed, and the evil of seeing in regards to family and wealth."

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا سَافَرَ قَالَ اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ اللهُمَّ اصْحَبْنَا فِي سَفَرِنَا وَاخْلُفْنَا فِي أَهْلِنَا اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ وَمِنَ الْحَوْرِ بَعْدَ الْكَوْرِ وَمِنْ دَعْوَةِ الْمَظْلُومِينَ وَمِنْ سُوءِ الْمَنْظَرِ فِي الْأَهْلِ وَالْمَالِ

[AI] When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ intended to embark on a journey, he would not say, "Add provisions for the journey." He would say, "O Allah, You are the Companion on the journey and the Successor in the family. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardship of the journey and the distress of returning. O Allah, make our destination nearby and ease the journey for us." And when he intended to return, he would say, "Returning, repenting, and praising our Lord. When he entered his house, he would say, 'Repentance, repentance, and return to our Lord. May He not leave us with sins.' And Ali informed us - I, Ahmad, narrated to him - Isma'il ibn Ishaq narrated to us - Musaddad narrated to us - Abu Al-Ahwas narrated from Simak, who mentioned it through his chain of narration similar to the hadith of Uthman ibn 'Umar.

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ فِي سَفَرٍ لَمْ يَقُلْ زِيَادٌ فِي سَفَرٍ قَالَ اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الضُّبْنَةِ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْكَابَةِ فِي الْمُنْقَلَبِ اللهُمَّ اقْبِضْ لَنَا الْأَرْضَ وَهَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا السَّفَرَ فَإِذَا أَرَادَ الرُّجُوعَ قَالَ آئِبُونَ تَائِبُونَ لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُونَ فَإِذَا دَخَلَ أَهْلَهُ قَالَ تَوْبًا تَوْبًا لِرَبِّنَا أَوْبًا لَا يُغَادِرُ عَلَيْنَا حُوبًا 10305 وَأَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيٌّ أنا أَحْمَدُ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ ثنا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ فَذَكَرَهُ بِإِسْنَادِهِ نَحْوَ حَدِيثِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عُمَرَ

" اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ في السَّفِر، والخَلِيفَةُ في الأهْل، اللَّهُمَّ اصْحَبْنَا بِصُحْبةٍ، وَاقْلبْنَا بِذِمة، اللَّهُمَّ ارْزُقْنى قَفْلَ الأرْضِ وَهَوِّنْ عَلَينَا السَّفَر، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وعثاءِ السَّفَر، وَكآبَةِ الْمُنْقَلَب، اللهُمَّ ازْو لَنَا الأرضَ وَسيِّرْنَا فيها".

"عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ إِذَا خَرَجَ إِلَى سَفَرٍ قَالَ: اللَّهُمَّ بَلِّغْ بَلَاغًا يَبْلُغُ خَيْرًا: مَغْفِرَةً منْكَ وَرِضْوَانًا، بِيَدكَ الْخَيْرُ إِنَّكَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْء قَدِيرٌ، الَّلهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحبُ في السَّفَر وَالْخَليفَةُ في الأَهْل، الَّلهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا السَّفَرَ، وَاطْوِ لَنَا الأَرْضَ، الَّلهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بَكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمنقَلَبِ".

" عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بنِ سَرْجس قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِىُّ ﷺ إِذَا أَرَادَ سَفَرًا قَالَ: اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِى السَّفَرِ، وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِى الأَهْلِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّى أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاء السَّفَرِ، وَكآبَةِ الْمُنْقَلِبِ، وَالْحور بَعْدَ الْكور، وَدَعْوَة الْمَظلُومِ، وَسُوءِ الْمَنْظَرِ فِى الأَهْلِ وَالْمَالِ".

"عَنِ ابْن عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ في السَّفَرِ قَالَ: اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ في السَّفَرِ، وَالْخَلِيفَةُ في الأَهْلِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّى أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الضَّيْعَة في السَّفَرِ، وَالْكَآبَةِ في الْمُنْقَلَبِ، اللَّهُمَّ اقْبِضْ لَنَا الأَرْضَ وَهَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا السَّفَرَ، فَإِذَا أَرَادَ الرُّجُوعَ قَالَ: آيبُونَ، تَائِبُونَ، لِربَنا حَامِدُونَ، فَإِذَا دَخَلَ بَيْتَهُ قَالَ: تَوبًا تَوْبًا، لِرَبِّنَا أَوْبًا لاَ يُغَادِرُ عَلَيْنَا حَوْبًا، وَفِى لَفْظٍ: فَإِذَا كَانَ يَوم يَدْخُلُ الْمَدِينَةَ قَالَ: تَوْبًا إِلَى رَبِّنَا تَوْبًا لاَ يُغَادِرُ عَلَيْهِ مِنَّا حَوْبًا".

"عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ الله ﷺ كانَ إِذَا اسْتَوَى عَلَى بَعِيرِه خَارِجًا إِلَى سَفَرٍ كبَّرَ ثَلاثًا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: {سُبْحَانَ الَّذِى سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ، وَإنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنقَلِبُونَ} (*)، اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْألُكَ فِى سَفَرِنَا هَذَا البِرَّ وَالتَّقْوَى وَالعَمَلَ بِمَا تَرْضَى،

وَفِى لَفْظٍ: وَمِنَ العَمَلِ بمَا تَرْضَى، اللَّهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا السَّفَرَ، وَاطوِ عَنَّا بُعْدَهُ، اللَّهُمَّ أنْتَ الصَّاحبُ فِى السَّفَرِ، وَالخَلِيفَةُ فِى الأهْلِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّى أعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاء السَّفَرِ، وَمِنْ كآبَةِ المنقَلَبِ، وَسُوءِ النَّظَرِ فِى الأهْلِ وَالمَالِ، وَإذَا رَجَعَ قَالَهَا، وَزَادَ فِيهَا: آَيبُونَ، تَائِبُونَ لِرَبنا حَامِدُونَ".

"عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ: إِذَا أرَادَ الرَّجُلُ مِنْكُمْ السَّفَرَ فَلْيَقُلْ: اللَّهُمَّ بَلاغًا يُبَلِّغُ خَيْرًا، مَغْفِرَةً مِنْكَ وَرِضْوَانًا؛ بِيدكَ الْخَيْرُ، إِنَّكَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ، اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِى السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِى الأَهْلِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمُنْقَلِبِ، اللَّهُمَّ اِطْوِ لَنَا الأَرْضَ، وَهَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا السَّفَرَ".

"عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إذَا أَرادَ سَفَرًا قَالَ: أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ، وَالخَلِيفَةُ فِي الأَهلِ، اللَّهُمَّ أَصْحبنَا بِنُصحٍ، وَاقْبَلْنَا بِذِمَّة، اللَّهُمَّ أَذِلَّ لَنَا الأَرْضَ، وَهَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا السَّفَر، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعوذُ بِكَ مَنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ، وكَآبَةِ المنُقَلَبِ وَسُوءِ المَنْظَرِ فِي الأَهْلِ وَالْمَالِ، اللَّهُمَّ اطْوِ لَنَا الأَرَضَ، وَهَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا السَّفَرَ".
