malik:29-52Yaḥyá > Mālik > Abū al-Zinād > Sulaymān b. Yasār

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu'z-Zinad from Sulayman ibn Yasar that Nufay, a mukatab of Umm Salama the wife of the Prophet ﷺ or her slave, had a free woman as a wife. He divorced her twice, and then he wanted to return to her. The wives of the Prophet ﷺ ordered him to go to Uthman ibn Affan to ask him about it. He found him at ad-Daraj with Zayd ibn Thabit. He asked them, and they both anticipated him and said, "She is haram for you. She is haram for you."

[Machine] That Nu'ayh was a scribe whom Umm Salamah, the wife of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , owned (as a slave) or was a slave to a free woman under him, and he divorced her twice and wanted to remarry her, so the wives of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ ordered him to go to Uthman ibn Affan to ask him about it. So he went and met him at the staircase while holding the hand of Zaid ibn Thabit, and they both asked him about it and they all replied, "It is forbidden for you, it is forbidden for you."

[Machine] Nu'ayaa was a letter writer for Umm Salama, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ , or a slave of a free woman under his authority. He divorced her twice and wanted to reconcile with her, so the Prophet's ﷺ wives commanded Uthman ibn Affan, asking him about this matter. So he went to him and met him at the stairs, holding the hand of Zaid ibn Thabit, and they both asked him. So they both began to quote the hadith to him.
