1. Forty Ḥadīth of Nawawī

1.1 Deeds are by Intentions

[Machine] From Umar ibn Al-Khattab: "Actions are only judged by intentions..." This is narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim.

Intentions are the basis for the judgement of actions upon them

(1) bukhari:6689Qutaybah b. Saʿīd > ʿAbd al-Wahhāb > Yaḥyá b. Saʿīd > Muḥammad b. Ibrāhīm > ʿAlqamah b. Waqqāṣ al-Laythī > ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Deeds are ˹judged based˺ upon ˹their˺ intention, and a person ˹is granted the due for˺ what he intended. So whoever had emigrated for ˹the sake of˺ of Allah and His Messenger then the ˹due˺ for his emigration ˹is earned for the sake˺ of Allah and His Messenger. And whoever emigrated for worldly benefits or for ˹the sake of˺ marrying a woman, then the ˹due˺ of his emigration ˹is earned for˺ what he emigrated for."

Intentions are the basis for the judgement of actions upon them

the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Deeds are ˹judged based˺ by ˹their˺ intention, and a person ˹is granted the due˺ for what they intended.
