“O Messenger of Allah ﷺ if a man finds another man with his wife, should he kill him?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “No.” Sa'd said: “Yes he should, by the one who honored you with the Truth!” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Listen to what your leader says!”  

ابن ماجة:٢٦٠٥ – حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الْمَدِينِيُّ أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدَّرَاوَرْدِيُّ عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ سَعْدَ بْنَ عُبَادَةَ الأَنْصَارِيَّ قَالَ

يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ الرَّجُلُ يَجِدُ مَعَ امْرَأَتِهِ رَجُلاً أَيَقْتُلُهُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ قَالَ سَعْدٌ بَلَى وَالَّذِي أَكْرَمَكَ بِالْحَقِّ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ اسْمَعُوا مَا يَقُولُ سَيِّدُكُمْ

Messenger of Allah, tell me if a man finds his wife with another person, should he kill him? Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: No. Sa'd said: Why not? I swear by Him Who has honored you with the Truth. There upon Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Listen to what your chief says.  

مسلم:١٤٩٨a – حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ يَعْنِي الدَّرَاوَرْدِيَّ عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ سَعْدَ بْنَ عُبَادَةَ الأَنْصَارِيَّ قَالَ

يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَرَأَيْتَ الرَّجُلَ يَجِدُ مَعَ امْرَأَتِهِ رَجُلاً أَيَقْتُلُهُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ قَالَ سَعْدٌ بَلَى وَالَّذِي أَكْرَمَكَ بِالْحَقِّ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ اسْمَعُوا إِلَى مَا يَقُولُ سَيِّدُكُمْ

That Sa'd b. 'Ubadah said: Messenger of Allah! If a man finds a man with his wife, should he kill him ? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: No. Sa'd : Why not, by Him who has honoured you with truth ? The Prophet ﷺ said: Listen to what your chief is saying. The narrator 'Abd al-Wahhab said: (Listen) to what Sa'd is saying.  

أبو داود:٤٥٣٢ – حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَعَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ نَجْدَةَ الْحَوْطِيُّ الْمَعْنَى وَاحِدٌ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ سَعْدَ بْنَ عُبَادَةَ قَالَ

يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ الرَّجُلُ يَجِدُ مَعَ امْرَأَتِهِ رَجُلاً أَيَقْتُلُهُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ قَالَ سَعْدٌ بَلَى وَالَّذِي أَكْرَمَكَ بِالْحَقِّ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ اسْمَعُوا إِلَى مَا يَقُولُ سَيِّدُكُمْ قَالَ عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ إِلَى مَا يَقُولُ سَعْدٌ  

bayhaqi:17645 – Abū ʿAbdullāh al-Ḥāfiẓ > Abū al-Ḥusayn b. Yaʿqūb al-Ḥāfiẓ
