ذِكْرُ الْأَمْرِ بِالِاقْتِصَارِ فِي التَّيَمُّمِ بِالْكَفَّيْنِ مَعَ الْوَجْهِ دُونَ السَّاعِدَيْنِ بِالضَّرْبَتَيْنِ

ibnhibban:1308 – al-Ḥasan b. Sufyān > Muḥammad b. al-Minhāl al-Ḍarīr > Yazīd b. Zurayʿ > Saʿīd > Qatādah > ʿAzrah > Saʿīd b. ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Abzá from his father > ʿAmmār b. Yāsir

I asked the Prophet ﷺ about tayammum. He commanded me to strike only one stroke (i.e. the strike the ground) for (wiping) the face and the hands. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 327)  

ابن حبّان:١٣٠٨ – أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ الضَّرِيرُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ عَزْرَةَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبْزَى عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ يَاسِرٍ قَالَ

سَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنِ التَّيَمُّمِ؟ «فَأَمَرَنِي بِالْوَجْهِ وَالْكَفَّيْنِ ضَرْبَةً وَاحِدَةً»
