43. Book of Impermissible and Permissible (7/7)
I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: Angels do not enter the house in which there is a dog or a statue. (Using translation from Muslim 2106b)
Messenger of Allah, I find a change in your mood today. Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Gabriel had promised me that he would meet me tonight, but he did not meet me. By Allah, he never broke his promises, and Messenger of Allah ﷺ spent the day in this sad (mood). Then it occurred to him that there had been a puppy under their cot. He commanded and it was turned out. He then took some water in his hand and sprinkled it at that place. When it was evening Gabriel met him and he said to him: you promised me that you would meet me the previous night. He said: Yes, but we do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a picture. Then on that very morning he commanded the killing of the dogs until he announced that the dog kept for the orchards should also be killed, but he spared the dog meant for the protection of extensive fields (or big gardens). (Using translation from Muslim 2105)
The Prophet ﷺ ordered Umar ibn al-Khattab who was in al-Batha' at the time of the conquest (of Makkah) to visit the Ka'bah and obliterate all images in it. The Prophet ﷺ did not enter it until all the images were obliterated. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4156)
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he entered the house and found in it a picture of Ibrahim and a picture of Mary, he said, "As for them, they have heard that the angels do not enter a house with a picture; however, this is an image of Ibrahim, and what is the matter with him? Why does he divide?"
[Machine] I entered, along with Abu Hurayrah, a house belonging to Sa'eed or Marwan. He saw a picture being drawn on the wall, so he said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Allah, blessed and exalted be He, said, 'Who is more unjust than one who has the ability to create as I create? Let them create a grain or a small particle.'"
I then tore it and prepared two cushions out of that. A person who was then in that company and whose name was Rabi'a b. 'Ata, the freed slave of Banu Zuhra, asked: Did you hear Abu Mabammad making a mention of A'isha having stated that Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recline upon them? lbn al-Qasim said: No, but I heard Qasim b. Muhammad saying so. (Using translation from Muslim 2107m)
[Machine] "The Prophet, Peace Be Upon Him, when he saw the idols in the house, meaning the Kaaba, he did not enter and ordered them to be removed. He also saw Ibrahim and Ismail holding idols in their hands, so he said, 'May Allah curse them! By Allah, they never swore by the idols.'"
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ entered the mosque and there were around three hundred and sixty idols around it. He began stabbing them with a stick he had with him and said, "The truth has come and falsehood has vanished. Indeed, falsehood is bound to perish."
43.23 [Machine] Play and Recreation
'A'isha reported that she used to play with dolls in the presence of Messenger of Allah ﷺ and when her playmates came to her they left (the house) because they felt shy of Messenger of Allah ﷺ, whereas Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent them to her. (Using translation from Muslim 2440a)
[Machine] She said: "The Prophet ﷺ entered upon me while I was playing with dolls. He lifted the curtain and said, 'What is this, O Aisha?' I said, 'It is dolls, O Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'What is this that I see among them?' I said, 'It is a horse, O Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'This is a horse with wings?' I said, 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' He laughed."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to come to me while I was playing with the girls.
[Machine] "I used to play with the girls, and then my friends would come and play with me. When they saw the Prophet ﷺ , they would leave and he would bring them to me to play with."
[Machine] While the Abyssinians were playing with their spears, Umar entered and leaned on the stones, then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Leave them, O Umar."
Abu Bakr, leave them alone for these are the days of 'Id. And 'A'isha said: I recapitulate to my mind the fact that once the Messenger of Allah ﷺ screened me with his mantle and I saw the sports of the Abyssinians, and I was only a girl, and so you can well imagine how a girl of tender age is fond of watching the sport. (Using translation from Muslim 892c)
[Machine] That Abu Bakr entered upon her during the days of Tashreeq and she had two slave girls who were singing and beating the tambourine. He scolded them and tore their tambourines. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Leave them, for these are the days of Eid."
[Machine] Indeed, the Abyssinians (Ethiopians) were presenting themselves in front of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and speaking in a language that he did not understand. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "What are they saying?" They replied, "Muhammad is a righteous servant."
[Machine] That Abu Bakr entered upon her during the days of Eid and with her were two slave girls who were singing, drumming and dancing. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was wearing a loose garment and was hiding from them. Abu Bakr scolded them, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ revealed his face and said, "Leave them, O Abu Bakr, for these are the days of Eid and those are the days of Mina." Aisha said, "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ covering me with his garment while I was looking at the Abyssinians playing in the mosque, and I was a young girl."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: He who plays backgammon disobeys Allah and His Apostle. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4938)
If anyone plays backgammon, he sinks his hand in the flesh of swine and its blood. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4939)
"A male devil following a female devil." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3765)

[Machine] There was a woman from the Ansar tribe in my chamber, and I married her. She said, "The Prophet ﷺ entered upon me on our wedding day and he did not hear any singing or playing. He said, 'O Aisha, did you sing for her? Do you not sing for her?' Then he said, 'The people of Ansar love singing."

Abu Bakr came to my house while two small Ansari girls were singing beside me the stories of the Ansar concerning the Day of Buath. And they were not singers. Abu Bakr said protestingly, "Musical instruments of Satan in the house of Messenger of Allah ﷺ !" It happened on the ʿId day and Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Abu Bakr! There is an ʿId for every nation and this is our ʿId." (Using translation from Bukhārī 952)

The Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) came and visited me in the morning when I had been conducted to my husband, and sat on my bedding as you are sitting beside me. Some little girls of ours began to play the tambourine and eulogise those of my ancestors who were killed in the battle of Badr, and then one of them said: And among us is a Prophet who knows what will happen tomorrow. He said : Stop this and say what you were saying. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4922)

[Machine] Abu Bakr entered upon them while they had two slave girls singing with their tambourines and singing in their days.
