[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The first people to be called to Paradise are those who praise Allah in times of ease and hardship."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَوَّلُ مَنْ يُدْعَى إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ الَّذِينَ يَحْمَدُونَ اللَّهَ فِي السَّرَّاءِ وَالضَّرَّاءِ»  

"I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'The best of remembrance is La ilaha illallah (None has the right to be worshipped but Allah), and the best of supplication is Al-Hamdu Lillah (praise is to Allah).'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3800)  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ أَفْضَلُ الذِّكْرِ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَفْضَلُ الدُّعَاءِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no person on Earth who says, 'There is no deity except Allah, Allah is the Greatest, Glory be to Allah, Praise be to Allah, and there is no power or strength except with Allah,' except that his sins will be forgiven, even if they are as abundant as the foam of the sea." This was narrated by Shu'bah from Abi Balj Yahya ibn Abi Sulaim, and he narrated it standing.  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَا عَلَى الْأَرْضِ رَجُلٌ يَقُولُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ وَسُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ إِلَّا كُفِّرَتْ عَنْهُ ذُنُوبُهُ وَإِنْ كَانَتْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ زَبَدِ الْبَحْرِ رَوَاهُ شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي بَلْجٍ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي سُلَيْمٍ فَأَوْقَفَهُ  

[Machine] "And Ahmad al-Qa'nabi informed us, narrating from Abdullah ibn Ahmad ibn Hanbal, who narrated from my father, who narrated from Muhammad ibn Ja'far, who narrated from Shu'bah, who narrated from Abu Balj, who narrated from Amru ibn Maymun, who narrated from Abdullah ibn Amr, that he said: Whoever says, 'There is no god but Allah, and Allah is the greatest, and all praise is due to Allah, and glory be to Allah abundantly, and there is no power or might except with Allah,' his sins will be forgiven, even if they were to be more than the foam of the sea. This is a hadith of Hatim ibn Abi Saghira, authenticated according to the conditions of Muslim, and the addition to it is acceptable."  

وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ الْقَعْنَبِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي بَلْجٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو أَنَّهُ قَالَ مَنْ قَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ وَسُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ كَثِيرًا وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ كُفِّرَتْ خَطَايَاهُ وَإِنْ كَانَتْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ زَبَدِ الْبَحْرِ «حَدِيثُ حَاتِمِ بْنِ أَبِي صَغِيرَةَ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ مُسْلِمٍ فَإِنَّ الزِّيَادَةَ مِنْ مِثْلِهِ مَقْبُولَةٌ»  

the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "What you mention of glory of Allah, of Tabsih (Subhan-Allah), Tahlil (Allahu-Akbar) and Tahmid (Al-Hamdu lillah), revolves around the Throne, buzzing like bees, reminding of the one who said it. Wouldn't any one of you like to have, or continue to have, something that reminds of him (in the presence of Allah)?'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3809)   

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ مِنْ جَلَالِ اللَّهِ مِمَّا يَذْكُرُونَ التَّسْبِيحَ وَالتَّحْمِيدَ وَالتَّهْلِيلَ إِنَّهُنَّ لَيَتَعَطَّفْنَ حَوْلَ الْعَرْشِ لَهُنَّ دَوِيٌّ كَدَوِيِّ النَّحْلِ يُذَكِّرْنَ بِصَاحِبِهِنَّ أَفَلَا يُحِبُّ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَكُونَ لَهُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مَنْ يُذَكِّرُهُ بِهِ؟»  

I was sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and a man was offering prayer. He then made supplication: O Allah, I ask Thee by virtue of the fact that praise is due to Thee, there is no deity but Thou, Who showest favour and beneficence, the Originator of the Heavens and the earth, O Lord of Majesty and Splendour, O Living One, O Eternal One. The Prophet ﷺ then said: He has supplicated Allah using His Greatest Name, when supplicated by this name, He answers, and when asked by this name He gives. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1495)   

كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي حَلْقَةٍ وَرَجُلٌ قَائِمٌ يُصَلِّي فَلَمَّا رَكَعَ وَسَجَدَ تَشَهَّدَ وَدَعَا فَقَالَ فِي دُعَائِهِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِأَنَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ بَدِيعُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «لَقَدْ دَعَا بِاسْمِ اللَّهِ الْأَعْظَمِ الَّذِي إِذَا دُعِيَ بِهِ أَجَابَ وَإِذَا سُئِلَ بِهِ أَعْطَى»  

I was sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and a man was offering prayer. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ heard a man saying: O Allah, I ask Thee, I bear witness that there is no god but Thou, the One, He to Whom men repair, Who has not begotten, and has not been begotten, and to Whom no one is equal, and he said: You have supplicated Allah using His Greatest Name, when asked with this name He gives, and when supplicated by this name he answers. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1493)

[Machine] Abu Darda and Ibn Abbas said, "Indeed, the greatest name of Allah is 'Rabb Rabb'."  

أَنَّ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ وَابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَا «إِنَّ اسْمَ اللَّهِ الْأَكْبَرَ رَبِّ رَبِّ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Verily, the greatest name of Allah is mentioned in three Surahs of the Quran: Surah Al-Baqarah, Surah Al-Imran, and Surah Ta-Ha." Al-Qasim said, "So I sought it, and it is 'Al-Hayy, Al-Qayyum.'"  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ اسْمَ اللَّهِ الْأَعْظَمَ فِي ثَلَاثِ سُوَرٍ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ فِي سُورَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ وَآلِ عِمْرَانَ وَطَهَ» قَالَ الْقَاسِمُ «فَالْتَمَسْتُهَا إِنَّهُ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ»  

“The supplication of Dhun-Nun (Prophet Yunus) when he supplicated, while in the belly of the whale was: ‘There is none worthy of worship except You, Glory to You, Indeed, I have been of the transgressors. (Lā ilāha illā anta subḥānaka innī kuntu minaẓ-ẓālimīn)’ So indeed, no Muslim man supplicates with it for anything, ever, except Allah responds to him.” (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3505)   

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «دَعْوَةُ ذِي النُّونِ إِذْ دَعَا وَهُوَ فِي بَطْنِ الْحُوتِ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَدْعُ بِهَا مُسْلِمٌ فِي شَيْءٍ قَطُّ إِلَّا اسْتَجَابَ اللَّهُ لَهُ بِهَا»  

“The supplication of Dhun-Nun (Prophet Yunus) when he supplicated, while in the belly of the whale was: ‘There is none worthy of worship except You, Glory to You, Indeed, I have been of the transgressors. قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ دَعْوَةُ ذِي النُّونِ إِذْ دَعَا وَهُوَ فِي بَطْنِ الْحُوتِ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ لَا يَدْعُو بِهَا رَجُلٌ مُسْلِمٌ فِي شَيْءٍ قَطُّ إِلَّا اسْتَجَابَ اللَّهُ لَهُ  

[Machine] We were sitting with the Prophet ﷺ , and he said, "Shall I not inform you of something that, if a distress or calamity were to befall one of you, he would supplicate with it and it would be relieved?" They said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "It is the supplication of Dhu'l-Nun, 'There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers.'"  

كُنَّا جُلُوسًا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِشَيْءٍ إِذَا نَزَلَ بِرَجُلٍ مِنْكُمْ كَرِبٌ أَوْ بَلَاءٌ مِنْ بَلَايَا الدُّنْيَا دَعَا بِهِ يُفَرَّجُ عَنْهُ؟» فَقِيلَ لَهُ بَلَى فَقَالَ دُعَاءُ ذِي النُّونِ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Shall I not inform you of the greatest name of Allah, by which when invoked, He answers, and when asked by it, He gives?" It is the supplication that Yunus (Jonah) called upon when he was in the belly of the whale, saying, 'There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers.'" A man then asked, "O Messenger of Allah, was this supplication specific to Yunus or general for all believers?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Don't you hear the saying of Allah the Almighty, 'And We saved him from the distress, and thus do We save the believers'?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ also said, "Whoever recites this supplication forty times during his illness, and then dies due to that illness, he will be rewarded like a martyr, and if he recovers from the illness, he will be reconciled and all his sins will be forgiven."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «هَلْ أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَى اسْمِ اللَّهِ الْأَعْظَمِ الَّذِي إِذَا دُعِيَ بِهِ أَجَابَ وَإِذَا سُئِلَ بِهِ أَعْطَى؟ الدَّعْوَةُ الَّتِي دَعَا بِهَا يُونُسُ حَيْثُ نَادَاهُ فِي الظُّلُمَاتِ الثَّلَاثِ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ» فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَلْ كَانَتْ لِيُونُسَ خَاصَّةً أَمْ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَامَّةً؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَلَا تَسْمَعُ قَوْلَ اللَّهِ ﷻ {وَنَجَّيْنَاهُ مِنَ الْغَمِّ وَكَذَلِكَ نُنْجِي الْمُؤْمِنِينَ} [الأنبياء 88] وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَيُّمَا مُسْلِمٍ دَعَا بِهَا فِي مَرَضِهِ أَرْبَعِينَ مَرَّةً فَمَاتَ فِي مَرَضِهِ ذَلِكَ أُعْطِيَ أَجْرَ شَهِيدٍ وَإِنْ بَرَأَ بَرَأَ وَقَدْ غُفِرَ لَهُ جَمِيعُ ذُنُوبِهِ»  

[Machine] About the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "Indeed, the greatest name of Allah is in three Surahs of the Quran: Surah Al-Baqarah, Surah Al-Imran, and Surah Taha. So, I searched for it and found it in Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayat Al-Kursi (Allahu la ilaha illa huwa al-Hayyul-Qayyum) [Surah Al-Baqarah 2:255], and in Surah Al-Imran (Alif Lam Meem Allah la ilaha illa huwa al-Hayyul-Qayyum) [Surah Al-Imran 3:2], and in Surah Taha (And the faces will humble themselves before the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence) [Surah Taha 20:111]."  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ اسْمَ اللَّهِ الْأَعْظَمَ لَفِي ثَلَاثِ سُوَرٍ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ فِي سُورَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ وَآلِ عِمْرَانَ وَطَهَ فَالْتَمَسْتُهَا فَوَجَدْتُ فِي سُورَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ آيَةَ الْكُرْسِيِّ {اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ} [البقرة 255] وَفِي سُورَةِ آلِ عِمْرَانَ {الم اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ} [آل عمران 2] وَفِي سُورَةِ طَهَ {وَعَنَتِ الْوُجُوهُ لِلْحَيِّ الْقَيُّومِ} [طه 111]  

[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ: "Indeed, the greatest name of Allah is found in three Surahs of the Quran." Isa ibn Musa said, while I was listening, "O Aba Zabir, I heard Ghaylan ibn Anas say that he heard Al-Qasim Abu Abdur Rahman say that he heard Abu Umamah narrate from the Prophet ﷺ: 'Indeed, the greatest name of Allah is found in three Surahs.' Then he mentioned a similar narration from Amr ibn Abi Salamah: 'This does not invalidate the hadith of Al-Walid ibn Muslim, for Al-Walid is more knowledgeable, skillful, and well-acquainted with the hadith of his land, although the two sheikhs did not rely on Al-Qasim Abu Abdur Rahman.'"  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ «إِنَّ اسْمَ اللَّهِ الْأَعْظَمَ لَفِي سُوَرٍ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ ثَلَاثٍ» فَقَالَ لَهُ عِيسَى بْنُ مُوسَى وَأَنَا أَسْمَعُ يَا أَبَا زَبْرٍ سَمِعْتُ غَيْلَانَ بْنَ أَنَسٍ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ الْقَاسِمَ أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا أُمَامَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ «إِنَّ اسْمَ اللَّهِ الْأَعْظَمَ لَفِي سُوَرٍ ثَلَاثٍ» ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ بِنَحْوِهِ حَدِيثَ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ «هَذَا لَا يُعَلِّلُ حَدِيثَ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ فَإِنَّ الْوَلِيدَ أَحْفَظُ وَأَتْقَنُ وَأَعْرَفُ بِحَدِيثِ بَلَدِهِ عَلَى أَنَّ الشَّيْخَيْنِ لَمْ يَحْتَجَّا بِالْقَاسِمِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ»  

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Stand until I praise my Lord.' So they formed rows behind him. Then he said, 'O Allah, all praise is due to You. O Allah, there is no one who can withhold what You have given, nor can anyone give what You have withheld. There is no guide for the one You have led astray, nor is there anyone who can lead astray the one You have guided. There is no provider for the one You have prevented, nor is there anyone who can prevent what You have provided. There is no one who can bring closer what You have distanced, nor is there anyone who can distance what You have brought closer. O Allah, bestow upon us Your blessings, mercy, favor, and sustenance. O Allah, I ask for the blessings of Paradise on the Day of Resurrection, and security on the Day of fear. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of what You have granted us and from the evil of what You have withheld from us. O Allah, make faith beloved to us and beautify it in our hearts. Make disbelief, wickedness, and disobedience detested by us. Make us among the rightly guided. O Allah, cause us to die as Muslims, and let us live as Muslims. Join us with the righteous, without disgrace or trial. O Allah, combat the disbelievers who deny Your messengers and obstruct Your path. Place upon them Your curse and punishment, O Lord of Truth."  

رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «اسْتَوُوا حَتَّى أُثْنِيَ عَلَى رَبِّي» فَصَارُوا خَلْفَهُ صُفُوفًا فَقَالَ «اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ كُلُّهُ اللَّهُمَّ لَا مَانِعَ لِمَا بَسَطْتَ وَلَا بَاسِطَ لِمَا قَبَضْتَ وَلَا هَادِيَ لِمَنْ أَضْلَلْتَ وَلَا مُضِلَّ لِمَنْ هَدَيْتَ وَلَا مُعْطِيَ لِمَا مَنَعْتَ وَلَا مَانِعَ لِمَا أَعْطَيْتَ وَلَا مُقَرِّبَ لِمَا بَاعَدْتَ وَلَا مُبَاعِدَ لِمَا قَرَّبْتَ اللَّهُمَّ ابْسُطْ عَلَيْنَا مِنْ بَرَكَاتِكَ وَرَحْمَتِكَ وَفَضْلِكَ وَرِزْقِكَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ النَّعِيمَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَالْأَمْنَ يَوْمَ الْخَوْفِ اللَّهُمَّ عَائِذٌ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَعْطَيْتَنَا وَشَرِّ مَا مَنَعْتَنَا اللَّهُمَّ حَبِّبْ إِلَيْنَا الْإِيمَانَ وَزَيِّنْهُ فِي قُلُوبِنَا وَكَرِهَ إِلَيْنَا الْكُفْرَ وَالْفُسُوقَ وَالْعِصْيَانَ وَاجْعَلْنَا مِنَ الرَّاشِدِينَ اللَّهُمَّ تَوَفَّنَا مُسْلِمِينَ وَأَحْيِنَا مُسْلِمِينَ وَأَلْحِقْنَا بِالصَّالِحِينَ غَيْرَ خَزَايَا وَلَا مَفْتُونِينَ اللَّهُمَّ قَاتِلِ الْكَفَرَةَ الَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ رُسُلَكَ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَنْ سَبِيلِكَ وَاجْعَلْ عَلَيْهِمْ رِجْزَكَ وَعَذَابَكَ إِلَهَ الْحَقِّ»  

[Machine] "A time will come upon you when none will be saved except those who pray the prayer of a drowning person."  

«يَأْتِي عَلَيْكُمْ زَمَانٌ لَا يَنْجُو فِيهِ إِلَّا مَنْ دَعَا دُعَاءَ الْغَرِيقِ»  

The Prophet ﷺ said: If anyone eats food and then says: "Praise be to Allah Who has fed me with this food and provided me with it through no might and power on my part," he will be forgiven his former and later sins. If anyone puts on a garment and says: "Praise be to Allah Who has clothed me with this and provided me with it through no might and power on my part," he will be forgiven his former and later sins. أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ أَكَلَ طَعَامًا فَقَالَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنِي هَذَا وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلَا قُوَّةٍ غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ وَمَنْ لَبِسَ ثَوْبًا فَقَالَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِي هَذَا مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلَا قُوَّةٍ غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, "Whenever Allah bestows a blessing upon a servant and he says, 'Alhamdulillah (all praise be to Allah),' Allah rewards him for it. If he says it again, Allah multiplies his reward. And if he says it a third time, Allah forgives his sins."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَا أَنْعَمَ اللَّهُ عَلَى عَبْدٍ مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ فَقَالَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ إِلَّا وَقَدْ أَدَّى شُكْرَهَا فَإِنْ قَالَهَا الثَّانِيَةَ جَدَّدَ اللَّهُ لَهُ ثَوَابَهَا فَإِنْ قَالَهَا الثَّالِثَةَ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهُ ذُنُوبَهُ  

[Machine] While they were traveling, the group stopped at dawn. Shaddad said, "Let's take a break here and have some fun." Then he said, "I seek forgiveness from Allah for speaking a word since I embraced Islam, without pondering over it and weighing it against my other words. This is not right." Muhammad ﷺ said, "O Shaddad, if you see people hoarding gold and silver, then hoard these words: 'O Allah, I ask You for steadfastness in matters, determination in righteousness, gratitude for Your blessings, excellence in worship, a sound heart, a truthful tongue, and upright character. I seek Your forgiveness for what You know, and I ask You for the best of what You know. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what You know, for You are the Knower of the unseen."  

بَيْنَمَا هُمْ فِي سَفَرٍ إِذْ نَزَلَ الْقَوْمُ يَتَصَبَّحُونَ فَقَالَ شَدَّادٌ أَدْنُوا هَذِهِ السُّفْرَةَ نَعْبَثُ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ مَا تَكَلَّمْتُ بِكَلِمَةٍ مُنْذُ أَسْلَمْتُ إِلَّا وَأَنَا أَزُمُّهَا وَأَخْطِمُهَا قَبْلَ كَلِمَتِي هَذِهِ لَيْسَ كَذَلِكَ قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ ﷺ وَلَكِنْ قَالَ يَا شَدَّادُ إِذَا رَأَيْتَ النَّاسَ يَكْنِزُونَ الذَّهَبَ وَالْفِضَّةَ فَاكْنِزْ هَؤُلَاءِ الْكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ التَّثْبِيتَ فِي الْأُمُورِ وَعَزِيمَةَ الرُّشْدِ وَأَسْأَلُكَ شُكْرَ نِعْمَتِكَ وَحُسْنَ عِبَادَتِكَ وَأَسْأَلُكَ قَلْبًا سَلِيمًا وَلِسَانًا صَادِقًا وَخُلُقًا مُسْتَقِيمًا وَأَسْتَغْفِرُكَ لِمَا تَعْلَمُ وَأَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ خَيْرِ مَا تَعْلَمُ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا تَعْلَمُ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ عَلَّامُ الْغُيُوبِ  

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me to say, if calamity befell me: “There is no god but Allah, the Forbearing the Most Generous; glory be to Allah, blessed be Allah, the Lord of the mighty Throne; praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 701)  

عَلَّمَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا نَزَلَ بِي كَرْبٌ أَنْ أَقُولَ «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَتَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me these words to say when I am afflicted with hardship or distress: "There is no god but Allah, the Forbearing, the Honorable, Glorified and Exalted is He. Blessed is Allah, the Lord of the Great Throne, and all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all worlds." Abdullah bin Ja'far used to teach this to a dead person and blow it on the afflicted area. Bukhari and Muslim have narrated this hadith in a summarized form from Qatadah, from Abu Al-'Aliyah, from Ibn Abbas.  

لَقَّنَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ هَؤُلَاءِ الْكَلِمَاتِ إِذَا نَزَلَ بِي شِدَّةٌ أَوْ كَرْبٌ أَنْ أَقُولَهُنَّ «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى تَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ» قَالَ «فَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ يُلَقِّنُهَا الْمَيِّتَ وَيَنْفُثُ بِهَا عَلَى الْمَوْعُوكِ» قَدْ أَخْرَجَ الْبُخَارِيُّ وَمُسْلِمٌ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ مُخْتَصَرًا مِنْ حَدِيثِ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ  

[Machine] When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was afflicted with worry or distress, he would say, "O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, I seek help through Your mercy."  

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا نَزَلَ بِهِ هَمٌّ أَوْ غُمٌّ قَالَ «يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ أَسْتَغِيثُ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whenever I faced a difficulty, Gabriel appeared to me in the form of a man and said, 'O Muhammad! Say: I have relied on the Ever-living, the One who does not die, and praise be to Allah who has never taken a son, nor does He have any partner in His Kingdom, nor is He in need of a protector out of weakness. And magnify Him with all magnificence.'"  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَا كَرَبَنِي أَمْرٌ إِلَّا تَمَثَّلَ لِي جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ قُلْ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى الْحَيِّ الَّذِي لَا يَمُوتُ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي لَمْ يَتَّخِذْ وَلَدًا وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ شَرِيكٌ فِي الْمُلْكِ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ وَلِيٌّ مِنَ الذُّلِّ وَكَبِّرْهُ تَكْبِيرًا  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "No Muslim is afflicted with any hardship or grief, and they say: 'O Allah, I am Your servant, the son of Your servant, my forelock is in Your hand, Your command over me is forever executed, and Your decree over me is just. I ask You by every name belonging to You which You have named Yourself with, or revealed in Your Book, or You taught to any of Your creation, or You have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Quran the life of my heart and the light of my chest, and a departure for my sorrow and a release for my anxiety.' So Allah will remove his hardship and replace it with ease." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, should we not learn these words?" He replied, "Of course, whoever hears them should learn them."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَا أَصَابَ مُسْلِمًا قَطُّ هَمٌّ وَلَا حَزَنٌ فَقَالَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي عَبْدُكَ وَابْنُ أَمَتِكَ نَاصِيَتِي فِي يَدِكَ مَاضٍ فِيَّ حُكْمُكَ عَدْلٌ فِي قَضَاؤُكَ أَسْأَلُكَ بِكُلِّ اسْمٍ هُوَ لَكَ سَمَّيْتَ بِهِ نَفْسَكَ أَوْ أَنْزَلْتَهُ فِي كِتَابِكَ أَوْ عَلَّمْتَهُ أَحَدًا مِنْ خَلْقِكَ أَوِ اسْتَأْثَرْتَ بِهِ فِي عِلْمِ الْغَيْبِ عِنْدَكَ أَنْ تَجْعَلَ الْقُرْآنَ رَبِيعَ قَلْبِي وَجِلَاءَ حُزْنِي وَذَهَابَ هَمِّي إِلَّا أَذْهَبَ اللَّهُ هَمَّهُ وَأَبْدَلَهُ مَكَانَ حُزْنِهِ فَرَحًا قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَلَا نَتَعَلَّمُ هَذِهِ الْكَلِمَاتِ؟ قَالَ «بَلَى يَنْبَغِي لِمَنْ سَمِعَهُنَّ أَنْ يَتَعَلَّمَهُنَّ»  

[Machine] The translation of the phrase is: "The Prophet ﷺ used to supplicate, saying, 'O Allah, suffice me with what You have provided me, and bless it for me, and replace any loss I have with something better.'"  

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَدْعُو يَقُولُ «اللَّهُمَّ قَنِّعْنِي بِمَا رَزَقْتَنِي وَبَارِكْ لِي فِيهِ وَاخْلُفْ عَلَى كُلِّ غَائِبَةٍ لِي بِخَيْرٍ»  

[Machine] "That the Messenger of Allah used to say, 'O Allah, benefit me with what You have taught me, and teach me what will benefit me, and grant me knowledge that will be beneficial for me.'"  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَانَ يَقُولُ «اللَّهُمَّ انْفَعْنِي بِمَا عَلَّمْتَنِي وَعَلِّمْنِي مَا يَنْفَعُنِي وَارْزُقْنِي عِلْمًا تَنْفَعُنِي بِهِ»  

[Machine] "He came to the Prophet ﷺ before embracing Islam. When he wanted to leave, he asked, "What should I say?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Say, 'O Allah, protect me from the evil of myself and guide me to do what is right.' " He said it and then left without embracing Islam. Later, he embraced Islam and asked the Prophet ﷺ, "What should I say now that I have embraced Islam?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Say, 'O Allah, protect me from the evil of myself and guide me to do what is right. O Allah, forgive me for what I have hidden, what I have made public, what I have done mistakenly, what I have done intentionally, what I have known, and what I have been ignorant of.' "  

أَنَّهُ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسْلِمَ فَلَمَّا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنْصَرِفَ قَالَ مَا أَقُولُ؟ قَالَ قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ قِنِي شَرَّ نَفْسِي وَاعْزِمْ لِي عَلَى أَرْشِدِ أَمْرِي فَقَالَهَا ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ وَلَمْ يُسْلِمْ ثُمَّ أَسْلَمَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَمَا أَقُولُ الْآنَ وَقَدْ أَسْلَمْتُ؟ قَالَ قُلْ اللَّهُمَّ قِنِي شَرَّ نَفْسِي وَاعْزِمْ لِي عَلَى أَرْشِدِ أَمْرِي اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي مَا أَسْرَرْتُ وَمَا أَعْلَنْتُ وَمَا أَخْطَأْتُ وَمَا عَمَدْتُ وَمَا عَلِمْتُ وَمَا جَهِلْتُ  

[Machine] I heard Abu Al-Mughirah or Al-Mughirah Abu Al-Walid narrating about Hudhayfah that he said, "O Messenger of Allah, I am a person whose tongue slips, and this often affects my family." He said, "So where are you in seeking forgiveness? Verily, I seek forgiveness from Allah a hundred times in a day and night, or in a night or in a day."  

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْمُغِيرَةِ أَوِ الْمُغِيرَةَ أَبَا الْوَلِيدِ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنِّي رَجُلٌ ذَرِبُ اللِّسَانِ وَإِنَّ عَامَّةَ ذَلِكَ عَلَى أَهْلِي فَقَالَ «فَأَيْنَ أَنْتَ مِنَ الِاسْتِغْفَارِ؟ إِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ فِي الْيَوْمِ وَاللَّيْلَةِ أَوِ اللَّيْلَةِ أَوْ فِي الْيَوْمِ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ»  

[Machine] I used to have a problem with my tongue towards my family, so I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I fear that my tongue will lead me to Hell." He said, "So where are you with seeking forgiveness? Verily, I seek forgiveness from Allah one hundred times a day." Abu Ishaq said, "I mentioned that to Abu Burdah, and he said, 'And I repent.'"  

كُنْتُ ذَرِبَ اللِّسَانِ عَلَى أَهْلِي قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَدْ خَشِيتُ أَنْ يُدْخِلَنِي لِسَانِي النَّارَ قَالَ «فَأَيْنَ أَنْتَ مِنَ الِاسْتِغْفَارِ؟ إِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ فِي الْيَوْمِ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ» قَالَ أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِأَبِي بُرْدَةَ فَقَالَ «وَأَتُوبُ»  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "O Allah! Indeed, I seek your forgiveness for what I have done in the past and what I will do in the future, what I have made public and what I have concealed. You are the One who brings forward and the One who delays, and You are capable of all things."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْتَغْفِرُكَ لَمَّا قَدَّمْتُ وَمَا أَخَّرْتُ وَمَا أَعْلَنْتُ وَمَا أَسْرَرْتُ أَنْتَ الْمُقَدِّمُ وَأَنْتَ الْمُؤَخِّرُ وَأَنْتَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever says, 'Astaghfirullah al-'Azeem, alladhee la ilaha illa huwal Hayyul Qayyum, wa atubu ilayhi,' three times, his sins will be forgiven, even if he had run away from the battle."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ قَالَ أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ الْعَظِيمَ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا غُفِرَتْ لَهُ ذُنُوبُهُ وَإِنْ كَانَ فَارًّا مِنَ الزَّحْفِ  

[Machine] Abu Salamah, the shepherd of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , told me and I met him in the mosque of Kufa. He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Bah, bah, and khams (five), nothing weighs heavier in the scale than them: Subhan Allah, Alhamdulillah, La ilaha illallah, Allahu Akbar, and a righteous child who dies and the Muslim parent expects reward from Allah for their patience.'"  

حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَلْمَى رَاعِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَلَقِيتُهُ فِي مَسْجِدِ الْكُوفَةِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ بَخٍ بَخٍ بِخَمْسٍ مَا أَثْقَلَهُنَّ فِي الْمِيزَانِ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ وَلَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ وَالْوَلَدُ الصَّالِحُ يُتَوَفَّى لِلْمُسْلِمِ فَيَحْتَسِبُهُ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, Allah has chosen specific phrases from Subhan Allah (glory be to Allah), Alhamdulillah (praise be to Allah), La ilaha illallah (there is no god but Allah), and Allahu akbar (Allah is the greatest). When a servant says Subhan Allah, Allah writes for him twenty good deeds and removes from him twenty bad deeds. When a servant says Allahu akbar, the same happens. And when a servant says La ilaha illallah, the same happens. And when a servant says Alhamdulillah, the Lord of all worlds, on his own, thirty good deeds are written for him and thirty bad deeds are removed from him."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ اللَّهَ اصْطَفَى الْكَلَامَ مِنْ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَالْحَمْدِ لِلَّهِ وَلَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ فَإِذَا قَالَ الْعَبْدُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَهُ عِشْرِينَ حَسَنَةً وَحَطَّ عَنْهُ عِشْرِينَ سَيِّئَةً وَإِذَا قَالَ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ فَمِثْلُ ذَلِكَ وَإِذَا قَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ فَمِثْلُ ذَلِكَ وَإِذَا قَالَ الْعَبْدُ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ مِنْ قِبَلِ نَفْسِهِ كُتِبَتْ لَهُ ثَلَاثُونَ حَسَنَةً وَحُطَّ عَنْهُ ثَلَاثُونَ سَيِّئَةً  

the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by him when he was planting a plant, and said: "O Abu Hurairah, what are you planting?" I said: "A plant for me." He said: "Shall I not tell you of a plant that is better than this?" He said: "Of course, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "Say: 'Subhan-Allah, wal-hamdu-lillah, wa la ilaha illallah, wa Allahu Akbar (Glory is to Allah, praise is to Allah, none has the right to be worshiped but Allah and Allah is the Most Great.)' For each one a tree will be planted for you in Paradise." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3807)   

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَرَّ بِهِ وَهُوَ يَغْرِسُ غَرْسًا فَقَالَ «مَا تَصْنَعُ يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ؟» قَالَ أَغْرِسُ غَرْسًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَلَا أَدُلُّكَ عَلَى غَرْسٍ خَيْرٌ لَكَ مِنْهُ؟» قُلْتُ مَا هُوَ؟ قَالَ «سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ وَلَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ يُغْرَسُ لَكَ بِكُلِّ وَاحِدَةٍ شَجَرَةٌ»  

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever says: ‘Glory is to Allah, the Magnificent, and with His Praise (Subḥān Allāhil-Aẓīm, wa biḥamdih)’ a date-palm tree is planted for him in Paradise.” (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3464)  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ قَالَ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ الْعَظِيمِ غُرِسَتْ لَهُ نَخْلَةٌ فِي الْجَنَّةِ  

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Increase in performing good deeds.' It was asked, 'What are those good deeds, O Messenger of Allah?' He replied, 'The remembrance of Allah, saying Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Greatest), La ilaha illallah (there is no deity but Allah), SubhanAllah (Glory be to Allah), Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah), and La hawla wala quwwata illa billah (There is no power or strength except with Allah).' This is the most authentic narration of the Egyptians and they did not exclude it."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «اسْتَكْثِرُوا مِنَ الْبَاقِيَاتِ الصَّالِحَاتِ» قِيلَ وَمَا هُنَّ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ «الْمِلَّةُ» قِيلَ وَمَا هِيَ؟ قَالَ «التَّكْبِيرُ وَالتَّهْلِيلُ وَالتَّسْبِيحُ وَالتَّحْمِيدُ وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ» هَذَا أَصَحُّ إِسْنَادِ الْمِصْرِيِّينَ فَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ  

[Machine] The Prophet (pbuh) said, "Whoever says Allahu Akbar (God is the Greatest) once, twenty good deeds will be written for him and twenty bad deeds will be erased. And whoever says Subhanallah (Glory be to Allah) once, twenty good deeds will be written for him and twenty bad deeds will be erased. And whoever says Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah) once, thirty good deeds will be written for him and thirty bad deeds will be erased."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ كَبَّرَ وَاحِدَةً كُتِبَ لَهُ عِشْرُونَ وَمُحِيَتْ عَنْهُ عِشْرُونَ وَمَنْ سَبَّحَ وَاحِدَةً كُتِبَتْ لَهُ عِشْرُونَ وَمُحِيَتْ عَنْهُ عِشْرُونَ وَمَنْ حَمِدَ وَاحِدَةً كُتِبَتْ لَهُ ثَلَاثُونَ وَمُحِيَتْ عَنْهُ ثَلَاثُونَ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "There is no servant who recites 'Alhamdulillah' (praise be to Allah) as many times as the number of His creations, and there is no servant who recites 'Alhamdulillah' filling what Allah has created, and there is no servant who recites 'Alhamdulillah' as many times as what is in the heavens and the earth, and there is no servant who recites 'Alhamdulillah' as many times as the number that His book enumerates, and there is no servant who recites 'Alhamdulillah' as many times as everything and glorified is Allah and similar to them." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "That is the greatest."  

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ قَالَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَدَدَ مَا خَلَقَ اللَّهُ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ مِلْأَ مَا خَلَقَ اللَّهُ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَدَدَ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَدَدَ مَا أَحْصَى كِتَابُهُ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَدَدَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَسُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ مِثْلَهُنَّ قَالَ فَأَعْظَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ ذَلِكَ  

AbuBakr as-Siddiq said: Messenger of Allah! command me something to say in the morning and in the evening. He said: Say "O Allah, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Who knowest the unseen and the seen, Lord and Possessor of everything. I testify that there is no god but Thee; I seek refuge in Thee from the evil within myself, from the evil of the devil, and his (incitement to) attributing partners (to Allah)." He said: Say this in the morning. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5067)  

أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقَ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ مُرْنِي بِكَلِمَاتٍ أَقُولُهُنَّ إِذَا أَصْبَحْتُ وَإِذَا أَمْسَيْتُ فَقَالَ قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ فَاطِرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ عَالِمَ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ رَبَّ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَمَلِيكَهُ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسِي وَشَرِّ الشَّيْطَانِ وَشِرْكِهِ فَقَالَ «قُلْهَا إِذَا أَصْبَحْتَ وَإِذَا أَمْسَيْتَ وَإِذَا أَخَذْتَ مَضْجَعَكَ»  

[Machine] I said, "O Prophet of Allah, I am a woman who has become old and weak, so guide me towards a deed." He said, "Glorify Allah one hundred times, praise Allah one hundred times, and exalt Allah one hundred times. It is better for you than offering one hundred acceptable sacrifices, better than riding one hundred well-trained horses for the sake of Allah, and better than freeing one hundred slaves whose freedom is accepted. Saying 'there is no god but Allah' does not leave any sin or action similar to it."  

قُلْتُ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ إِنِّي امْرَأَةٌ قَدْ كَبِرْتُ وَضَعُفْتُ فَدُلَّنِي عَلَى عَمَلٍ قَالَ «كَبِّرِي اللَّهَ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ وَاحْمَدِي اللَّهَ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ وَسَبِّحِي اللَّهَ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكِ مِنْ مِائَةِ بَدَنَةٍ مُتَقَبَّلَةٍ وَخَيْرٌ مِنْ مِائَةِ فَرَسٍ مُسْرَجٍ مُلْجَمٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَخَيْرٌ مِنْ مِائَةِ رَقَبَةٍ مُتَقَبَّلَةٍ وَقَوْلُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ لَا يَتْرُكُ ذَنْبًا وَلَا يُشْبِهُهَا عَمَلٌ»  

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Never a blessing that Allah bestows upon a servant and he realizes that it is from Allah, except that Allah writes down his gratitude for it even before he praises Him for it.

Never a servant commits a sin and he feels remorse for it, except that Allah writes down his forgiveness for it even before he seeks His forgiveness.

And never a servant purchases a garment for a dirham or half a dirham, and he wears it and praises Allah for it, except that Allah forgives him before his knees to touch the ground ˹in prayer˺."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَا أَنْعَمَ اللَّهُ عَلَى عَبْدٍ نِعْمَةً فَعَلِمَ أَنَّهَا مِنْ عِنْدِ اللَّهِ إِلَّا كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَهُ شُكْرَهَا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَحْمَدَهُ عَلَيْهَا۔»

«وَمَا أَذْنَبَ عَبْدٌ ذَنْبًا فَنَدِمَ عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَهُ مَغْفِرَةً قَبْلَ أَنْ يَسْتَغْفِرَهُ۔»

«وَمَا اشْتَرَى عَبْدٌ ثَوْبًا بِدِينَارٍ أَوْ نِصْفِ دِينَارٍ فَلَبِسَهُ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا لَمْ يَبْلُغْ رُكْبَتَيْهِ حَتَّى يَغْفِرَ اللَّهُ لَهُ»  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Whoever says in the morning and evening of every day the following words: 'In the name of Allah with Whose name nothing in the earth or sky can harm, and He is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing,' three times, nothing will harm him."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ يَقُولُ فِي صَبَاحِ كُلِّ يَوْمٍ وَمَسَاءِ كُلِّ لَيْلَةٍ بِاسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لَا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ فَيَضُرُّهُ شَيْءٌ  

The Prophet ﷺ said: If anyone says in the morning or in the evening: "O Allah! Thou art my Lord; there is no god but Thee, Thou hast created me, and I am Thy servant and hold to Thy covenant and promise as much as I can; I seek refuge in Thee from the evil of what I have done: I acknowledge Thy favour to me, and I acknowledge my sin; pardon me, for none but Thee pardons sins, and dies during the daytime or during the night." he will go to Paradise. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5070)   

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ وَعَلَى عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ كُلِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ وَأَبُوءُ بِذَنْبِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي ذُنُوبِي إِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ فَمَاتَ مِنْ يَوْمِهِ وَلَيْلَتِهِ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ «صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "No one among you can do a thousand good deeds until he says 'Subhan Allah wa bihamdihi' (Glory be to Allah and praise be to Him) a hundred times in the morning. It is equal to a thousand good deeds and he will not do anything like it in his day except for that, and much more."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَا يَدَعُ رَجُلٌ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَعْمَلَ أَلْفَ حَسَنَةٍ حَتَّى يُصْبِحَ يَقُولُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ فَإِنَّهَا أَلْفُ حَسَنَةٍ وَأَنَّهُ لَمْ يَعْمَلْ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ فِي يَوْمِهِ مِنَ الذُّنُوبِ وَيَكُونُ مَا عَمِلَ مِنْ خَيْرٍ سِوَى ذَلِكَ وَافِرًا  

Abū Bakr came to me and said, "Have you heard a supplication from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he taught me?" I asked, "What is it?" He said, "Jesus, the son of Mary, used to teach it to his companions. If any of you had a debt as great as a mountain, and he invoked Allah with it, Allah would fulfill it for him. Say: allāhuma fārij al-hamm, kāshif al-ghamm, mujība daʿwat al-muḍṭarrīn, Raḥmān al-dunyā wa-al-ākhirah wa-raḥīmahumā, anta tarḥamunī, fa-irḥamnī bi-raḥmatin tughnīnī bihā ʿan raḥmati man siwāk (O Allah, reliever of distress, dispeller of sorrow, answerer of the supplication of the distressed, al-Raḥmān (Most Merciful) of the world and the Hereafter and the One Who who bestows mercy upon them, You are the One who ˹also˺ bestows mercy upon me, so bestow mercy upon me with a mercy that will suffice me from the mercy of anyone other than You.)"

Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq said, "I had some remaining debt that I was a burden on me. I invoked Allah with this supplication, and Allah fulfilled it for me."

ʿĀʾishah said, "Asmāʾ b. ʿUmays had a debt of one dinar and three dirhams upon me, and she used to visit me. I was embarrassed to face her because I had nothing to pay her with. So, I invoked Allah with this supplication, and soon after, Allah provided me with some wealth, not as charity to be given, nor as a heritage received, but Allah settled it for me. I distributed a good share among my relatives and set free the slave girl of ʿAbd al-Raḥmān with three 'ūqiyyah and he had a good favor upon us."  

دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَقَالَ: هَلْ سَمِعْتِ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ دُعَاءً عَلَّمَنِيهِ؟ قُلْتُ: مَا هُوَ؟ قَالَ: كَانَ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ يُعَلِّمُهُ أَصْحَابَهُ۔ قَالَ: لَوْ كَانَ عَلَى أَحَدِكُمْ جَبَلُ ذَهَبٍ دَيْنًا فَدَعَا اللَّهَ بِذَلِكَ، لَقَضَاهُ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ: (اللَّهُمَّ فَارِجَ الْهَمِّ، كَاشِفَ الْغَمِّ، مُجِيبَ دَعْوَةِ الْمُضْطَرِّينَ، رَحْمَانَ الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ وَرَحِيمَهُمَا، أَنْتَ تَرْحَمُنِي، فَارْحَمْنِي بِرَحْمَةٍ تُغْنِينِي بِهَا عَنْ رَحْمَةِ مَنْ سِوَاكَ۔)

قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقُ: وَكَانَتْ عَلَيَّ بَقِيَّةٌ مِنَ الدَّيْنِ وَكُنْتُ لِلدَّيْنِ كَارِهًا، فَكُنْتُ أَدْعُو بِذَلِكَ فَأَتَانِي اللَّهُ بِفَائِدَةٍ فَقَضَاهُ اللَّهُ عَنِّي۔

قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ «كَانَ لِأَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ عُمَيْسٍ عَلَيَّ دِينَارٌ وَثَلَاثَةُ دَرَاهِمٍ فَكَانَتْ تَدْخُلُ عَلَيَّ فَأَسْتَحْيِي أَنْ أَنْظُرَ فِي وَجْهِهَا لِأَنِّي لَا أَجِدُ مَا أَقْضِيهَا۔ فَكُنْتُ أَدْعُو بِذَلِكَ فَمَا لَبِثْتُ إِلَّا يَسِيرًا حَتَّى رَزَقَنِي اللَّهُ رِزْقًا مَا هُوَ بِصَدَقَةٍ تُصُدِّقَ بِهَا عَلَيَّ وَلَا مِيرَاثٌ وَرِثْتُهُ فَقَضَاهُ اللَّهُ عَنِّي وَقَسَمْتُ فِي أَهْلِي قَسْمًا حَسَنًا وَحَلَّيْتُ ابْنَةَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بِثَلَاثِ أَوَاقٍ وَرِقٍ وَفَضَلَ لَنَا فَضْلٌ حَسَنٌ»  

[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "Everything that the son of Adam speaks is recorded against him. So if he makes a mistake and wants to repent to Allah, let him go to His highness and stretch out his hands to Allah, the Almighty. Then let him say: O Allah, I repent to You from it and I will never return to it again. For indeed, what he does not return to in his actions will be forgiven for him."  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ يَتَكَلَّمُ بِهِ ابْنُ آدَمَ فَإِنَّهُ مَكْتُوبٌ عَلَيْهِ فَإِذَا أَخْطَأَ خَطِيئَةً فَأَحَبَّ أَنْ يَتُوبَ إِلَى اللَّهِ فَلْيَأْتِ رَفِيعَهُ فَلْيَمُدَّ يَدَيْهِ إِلَى اللَّهِ ﷻ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَتُوبُ إِلَيْكَ مِنْهَا لَا أَرْجِعُ إِلَيْهَا أَبَدًا فَإِنَّهُ يُغْفَرُ لَهُ مَا لَمْ يَرْجِعْ فِي عَمَلِهِ ذَلِكَ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, taught him and commanded him to make a pact with his family every morning, saying: "Here I am, O Allah, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am. All good is in Your hands, and the evil is not attributed to You. Here I am. Whatever I say, or swear, or vow, Your will comes before all of that. Whatever You will, it happens, and whatever You do not will, does not happen. There is no power or ability except through You. Indeed, You are capable of everything. O Allah, whatever I pray, I ask You to bestow it upon the one I prayed for. Whatever I curse, I ask You to curse the one I cursed. You are my guardian in this world and in the Hereafter. Make me die as a Muslim and join me with the righteous. O Allah, I ask You for satisfaction after decree, and coolness after death, and the pleasure of looking at Your face, and the eagerness to meet You without any harm or misleading trial. I seek Your protection from oppressing or being oppressed, transgressing or being transgressed upon, committing a sinful act or bringing about a sin that You do not forgive. O Allah! Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, Owner of majesty and honor. I make my pledge to You in this world, and I bear witness to You (that I have done that), and it is enough for You as a witness that I bear witness that there is no god but You alone, with no partner, Yours is the dominion, and Yours is the praise, and You are capable of everything. And I bear witness that Muhammad is Your slave and Messenger, and I bear witness that Your promise is true, and meeting You is true, and the Hour is coming, there is no doubt in it, and that You will resurrect those who are in the graves. And if You entrust me to myself, You entrust me to weakness, vulnerability, sin, and error. And I have no trust except in Your mercy. So forgive all of my sins, for indeed, no one forgives sins except You, and accept my repentance, for indeed, You are the Acceptor of repentance, the Merciful."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَلَّمَهُ وَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَتَعَاهَدَ أَهْلَهُ فِي كُلِّ صَبَاحٍ «لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ وَسَعْدَيْكَ وَالْخَيْرُ فِي يَدَيْكَ وَمِنْكَ وَإِلَيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ مَا قُلْتُ مِنْ قَوْلٍ أَوْ حَلَفْتُ مِنْ حَلِفٍ أَوْ نَذَرْتُ مِنْ نَذْرٍ فَمَشِيئَتُكَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ ذَلِكَ كُلِّهِ مَا شِئْتَ كَانَ وَمَا لَمْ تَشَأْ لَا يَكُونُ وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِكَ إِنَّكَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ اللَّهُمَّ مَا صَلَّيْتُ مِنْ صَلَاةٍ فَعَلَى مَنْ صَلَّيْتَ وَمَا لَعَنْتُ مِنْ لَعْنٍ فَعَلَى مَنْ لَعَنْتَ أَنْتَ وَلِيِّي فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ تَوَفَّنِي مُسْلِمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الرِّضَا بَعْدَ الْقَضَاءِ وَبَرْدَ الْعَيْشِ بَعْدَ الْمَوْتِ وَلَذَّةَ النَّظَرِ إِلَى وَجْهِكَ وَشَوْقًا إِلَى لِقَائِكَ فِي غَيْرِ ضَرَّاءَ مُضِرَّةٍ وَلَا فِتْنَةٍ مُضِلَّةٍ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ أَظْلِمَ أَوْ أُظْلَمَ أَوْ أَعْتَدِيَ أَوْ يُعْتَدَى عَلَيَّ أَوْ أَكْسِبَ خَطِيئَةً أَوْ ذَنْبًا لَا تَغْفِرُ اللَّهُمَّ فَاطِرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ عَالِمَ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ فَإِنِّي أَعْهَدُ إِلَيْكَ فِي هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا وَأُشْهِدُكَ وَكَفَى بِكَ شَهِيدًا أَنِّي أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ وَحْدَكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ لَكَ الْمُلْكُ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ وَأَنْتَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُكَ وَرَسُولُكَ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ وَعْدَكَ حَقٌّ وَلِقَاءَكَ حَقٌّ وَالسَّاعَةُ آتِيَةٌ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهَا وَأَنَّكَ تَبْعَثُ مَنْ فِي الْقُبُورِ وَأَنَّكَ إِنْ تَكِلْنِي إِلَى نَفْسِي تَكِلْنِي إِلَى ضَعْفٍ وَعَوْرَةٍ وَذَنْبٍ وَخَطِيئَةٍ وَإِنِّي لَا أَثِقُ إِلَّا بِرَحْمَتِكَ فَاغْفِرْ لِي ذُنُوبِي كُلَّهَا إِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ وَتُبْ عَلَيَّ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ»
