13. Book of Fasting (5/6)
[Machine] Abdullah bin Umar used to say, "There is not a person among Allah's creation except that upon him is an obligatory Hajj and Umrah, for those who are able to do so. Whoever does more than that, it is better and considered voluntary."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said to her during her pilgrimage, "You will receive reward according to the effort and the expenses you incurred."
[Machine] The translation of the provided Arabic sentence into English is: "The Prophet ﷺ said to her during her pilgrimage, 'Your reward for the pilgrimage is based on the extent of your spending.'"
[Machine] Ali and Uthman performed Hajj. When they were on the way, Uthman prohibited himself from performing Umrah before Hajj. It was said to Ali that he prohibited them from performing Umrah, so Ali said, "If you see him depart, then depart." So Ali and his companions performed Umrah without being prohibited by Uthman. Ali said, "Did I not inform you that he prohibits performing Umrah?" Uthman replied, "Yes." Ali then said, "Did you not hear the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, permitting it?" Uthman replied, "Yes."
“Labbaika bi-‘Umratin wa hajjatin [Here I am (O Allah), for ‘Umrah and Hajj].” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2969)
[Machine] Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ combined Hajj and Umrah because he knew that he would not perform Hajj again after that.
“I was sitting with Ibn ‘Abbas, and a man came to him and he said: ‘Where have you come from?’ He said: ‘From Zamzam.’ He said: ‘Did you drink from it as you should?’ He said: ‘How is that?’ He said: ‘When you drink from it, turn to face the Qiblah and mention the name of Allah, drink three draughts and drink your fill of it. When you have finished, then praise Allah.’ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘The sign (that differentiates) between us and the hypocrites is that they do not drink their fill from Zamzam.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3061)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The water of Zamzam is for whatever purpose it is drunk for. If you drink it to alleviate illness, Allah will heal you, and if you drink it seeking refuge, Allah will protect you, and if you drink it to quench your thirst, Allah will satisfy it." Ibn Abbas used to say when he drank the water of Zamzam, "O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, abundant provision, and healing from all ailments."
"I heard Abu Umamah saying: I heard the Messenger of Allah giving a Khutbah during the Farewell Hajj, and he said: 'Have Taqwa of your Lord, and pray your five (prayers), and fast your month, and pay the Zakat on your wealth, and obey thosewho are in charge of you, you will enter the Paradise of your Lord.'" He said: "I said to Abu Umamah: 'How old were you when you heard this Hadith (from the Messenger of Allah)?' He said: 'I heard it when I was thirty years old.'" (Using translation from Tirmidhī 616)
[Machine] The number of people in the camp became numerous, so we went out as pilgrims, until there was no time for us to do anything other than a few nights. We were commanded to enter the state of Ihram, so one of us would go to Arafat, and his semen would drip. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was informed of this, so he stood and delivered a sermon, saying, "By Allah, you people should teach me! For I am the one who knows Allah the best among you and fears Him the most. If I have known that I will face what you are facing now, I would have prepared better. I have not brought the sacrificial animals with me and I have not still made my sacrificial rites. So whoever does not have an animal for sacrifice, let him fast for three days during Hajj and seven days after returning home. And whoever finds an animal, let him sacrifice it. We used to sacrifice the jazoor for seven people."
[Machine] "He said, 'When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ threw the pebbles at the Jamrah (stone pillars), and slaughtered his sacrificial animal, and had his head shaved by the right side of his head, then he had his head shaved by the left side, and then he instructed Abu Talha to distribute it among the people.'"
[Machine] His father was present with the Prophet ﷺ at Al-Manhar during the Hajj pilgrimage. The Prophet ﷺ shaved his head and gave his father a portion of his hair. He also cut his nails and gave them to his companion. They said, "Indeed, he is with us and has applied henna and kohl."
Ibn Umar reported that Messenger of Allah ﷺ observed the circumambulation of Ifada on the Day of Nabr (10th of Dhu'l-Hijja), and then came back and observed the noon prayer at Mina. Nafi' (one of the narrators) said that Ibn Umar used to observe the circumambulation of Ifada on the Day of Nahr, and then return and observe the noon prayer at Mina, and mentioned that Allah's Apostle ﷺ did that. (Using translation from Muslim 1308)
It was narrated from ‘Abdullah bin ‘Abbas that the Prophet ﷺ did not walk quickly (Ramal) during the seven circuits of Tawaful-Ifadah (done on 10th day of Dhul-Hijjah). (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3060)
Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to the drinking place and asked for water. Al-Abbas said, "O Fadl! Go to your mother and bring water from her for Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Give me water to drink." Al-Abbas said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! The people put their hands in it." Messenger of Allah ﷺ again said, 'Give me water to drink. So, he drank from that water and then went to the Zamzam (well) and there the people were offering water to the others and working at it (drawing water from the well). The Prophet ﷺ then said to them, "Carry on! You are doing a good deed." Then he said, "Were I not afraid that other people would compete with you (in drawing water from Zamzam), I would certainly take the rope and put it over this (i.e. his shoulder) (to draw water)." On saying that the Prophet ﷺ pointed to his shoulder. (Using translation from Bukhārī 1635)
[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "The game of the land is lawful for you while you are forbidden from what you have not hunted or has been hunted for you."
[Machine] About the Prophet ﷺ , regarding his words, the hadith of Sulaiman ibn Bilal.
This tradition has also been narrated on the authority of ‘A’ishah through a different chain. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 99)
[Machine] "People used to dislike returning from Mina due to their physical appearance. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered them to make their last act in Mina by circling the Kaaba and then granted permission for menstruating women."
[Machine] We said, "O Messenger of Allah, these are the stones that you throw and they are carried, and it seems as if they are sinking." He said, "Indeed, whatever is accepted from it is lifted up, and if it were not for that, you would have seen it like mountains."
[Machine] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said: "When one of you completes his pilgrimage, he should direct his journey towards his family, for indeed it is the greatest in reward."
[Machine] "Gabriel came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and took him to show him the rituals. A slit opened for him, and he entered Mina. He saw the Jamrat Al-Aqaba (stone pillars) and then saw Arafat. The devil intercepted the Prophet ﷺ at the Jamrat, so he pelted him with seven pebbles until he disappeared. Then he intercepted him at the second Jamrat and pelted him with seven pebbles until he disappeared. Then he intercepted him at the Jamrat Al-Aqaba and he pelted him with seven pebbles until he disappeared. And that's how it ended."
[Machine] The translation of the given text into English is: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to throw pebbles on the day of sacrifice before noon, but afterwards, he did it at noon."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed the obligatory circumambulation of the Ka'bah at the end of the day of sacrifice after he had offered the noon prayer. He hen returned to Mina and stayed there during the tashriq days and he threw pebbles at the jamrahs when the sun declined. He threw seven pebbles at each of the jamrahs, uttering the takbir (Allah is most great) at the time of the throwing the pebble. He stood at the first and the second jamrah, and prolonged his standing there, making supplications with humilation. He threw pebbles at the third jamrah but did not stand there. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1973)
Whenever Messenger of Allah ﷺ stoned the Jamra near Mina Mosque, he would do Ramy of it with seven small pebbles and say Takbir on throwing each pebble. Then he would go ahead and stand facing the Qiblah with his hands raised, and invoke (Allah) and he sued to stand for a long period. Then he would come to the second Jamra (Al-Wusta) and stone it will seven small stones, reciting Takbir on throwing each stone. Then he would stand facing the Qiblah with raised hands to invoke (Allah). Then he would come to the Jamra near the 'Aqaba (Jamrat-ul-'Aqaba) and do Ramy of it with seven small pebbles, reciting Takbir on throwing each stone. he then would leave and not stay by it. Narrated Az-Zuhri: I heard Salim bin 'Abdullah saying the same that his father said on the authority of the Prophet ﷺ. And Ibn 'Umar used to do the same. (Using translation from Bukhārī 1753)
[Machine] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ allowed the shepherds to let their animals graze one day and to withhold them another day." Abu Al-Baddah is the son of Asim ibn Adi and he is famous among the followers (of the Prophet). Asim ibn Adi is famous among the companions and he is the companion of the Li'an (a legal punishment in Islam). So whoever speaks about Abu Al-Baddah ibn Adi, it is because of his lineage to his grandfather and the authenticity of what I mentioned."
On the authority of his father 'Asim: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave permission to the herdsmen of the camels not to pass night at Mina and asked them to throw pebbles on the day of sacrifice, and to throw pebbles at the jamrahs the next day and the following two days, and on the day of their return. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1975)
[Machine] "I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) perform the Asr prayer with two Raka'at (units) while sitting."
[Machine] Aisha used to say that it is amazing for a Muslim when he enters the Kaaba that he raises his gaze towards the ceiling, as a sign of reverence and magnification for Allah. "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the Kaaba and his gaze did not leave the place of his prostration until he left it."
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out delighted, then he came back to me sad. I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, (why did) you go out happy and come back sad?’ He said: ‘I entered the Ka’bah, and I wish that I had not done that, because I am afraid that I may have caused difficulty for my nation after I am gone.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3064)

[Machine] To Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Aisha, if it were not for the fact that your people have recent memories of ignorance, I would have demolished the Kaaba and rebuilt it on the foundation that was laid by Ibrahim (Abraham). For they were unable to afford the expenses of its rebuilding, and I would have added two doors to it, one facing east and one facing west, and I would have attached it to the ground, unlike its current construction." Ibn Zubayr called for the demolition and construction of the Kaaba, and Yazid bin Ruman witnessed its demolition. He extracted the foundation of the Kaaba like disconnected blocks and I asked Yazid bin Ruman, while I was walking with him, to show me what they had taken out from the Kaaba's structure. He said, "I will show it to you now." When he finished the demolition, he said, "This is the spot." Jarir (bin Abdullah Al-Bajali) said, "I estimated it to be about six cubits away."

The people used to trade, in the beginning, at Mina, Arafat, the market place of Dhul-Majaz, and during the season of hajj. But (later on) they became afraid of trading while they were putting on ihram. So Allah, glory be to Him, sent down this verse: "It is no sin for you that you seek the bounty of your Lord during the seasons of hajj." Ubayd ibn Umayr told me that he (Ibn Abbas) used to recite this verse in his codex. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1734)

She asked her husband, who refused her request. So she came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and mentioned this to him. The Prophet ﷺ ordered him to give her what she requested and said, "Verily, Hajj and Umrah are from the ways of Allah, and verily, performing Umrah in Ramadan is equal to performing Hajj, or it is sufficient for Hajj."

Al Hajjaj bin ‘Amr Al Ansari reported the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ as saying “ If anyone breaks (a bone or leg) or becomes lame, he has come out of the sacred state and must perform Hajj the following year.” ‘Ikrimah said I asked Ibn ‘Abbas and Abu Hurairah about this. They replied He spoke the truth. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1862)

[Machine] The Quraysh used to call for al-Hums (a form of idol worship) and they would enter from the doors during the pilgrimage. The Ansar and the rest of the Arabs would not enter from the doors during the pilgrimage. While the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, was in a garden, he came out of its door and Qutbah ibn Amir al-Ansari came out with him. They said, "O Messenger of Allah, Qutbah ibn Amir is an immoral man, and he came out with you from the door." He said, "What made you say that?" He said, "I saw you do it, so I did it as well." He said, "I am performing al-Hums." He said, "My religion is your religion." So, Allah, the Almighty and Exalted, revealed: "It is not righteousness that you enter houses from the back, but righteousness is [in] one who fears Allah." [Quran 2:189]

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ wanted to perform Hajj, so a woman said to her husband, "Let me go for Hajj with the Messenger of Allah." He replied, "I do not have anything to perform Hajj with." She said, "Take me with you on your camel." He responded, "That is what I am anticipating for myself and our child." She said, "Take me with you on your riding animal." He said, "That is what is needed in the way of Allah." She said, "Then sell your dates and raisins." He said, "That is our sustenance, yours and mine." When the Prophet ﷺ returned from Makkah, the woman sent a message to him, saying, "Peace be upon you, Messenger of Allah. Please ask him (her husband) what credits a Hajj with you." Her husband went to the Prophet and said, "O Messenger of Allah, my wife sends greetings to you, and she said that she asked me to take her for Hajj with you. I told her I do not have anything. Then she said, 'Take me on my riding animal.' I responded, 'That is what is needed in the way of Allah.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'If you had taken her, you would have been rewarded for performing Hajj in the way of Allah.' The Prophet ﷺ then laughed in astonishment at her eagerness to perform Hajj." He (the husband) continued, "She also requested me to ask you what is equivalent to a Hajj with you." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Tell her peace and mercy from me, and inform her that performing Umrah in Ramadan is equivalent to a Hajj with me."
