Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Allah! Be merciful to those who have their head shaved." The people said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! And (invoke Allah for) those who get their hair cut short." The Prophet ﷺ said, "O Allah! Be merciful to those who have their head shaved." The people said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! And those who get their hair cut short." The Prophet ﷺ said (the third time), "And to those who get their hair cut short." Nafiʿ said that the Prophet ﷺ had said once or twice, "O Allah! Be merciful to those who get their head shaved," and on the fourth time he added, "And to those who have their hair cut short."  

البخاري:١٧٢٧ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ؓ

That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: O Allah, have mercy on those who have themselves shaved. The people said: Messenger of Allah, and those who have clipped their hair. malik:20-196 – Yaḥyá > Mālik > Nāfiʿ > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi from Abdullah ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Allah, have mercy on those who shave their hair." They said, "And those who shorten (their hair), Messenger of Allah." He said, "O Allah, have mercy on those who shave." They said, "And those who shorten, Messenger of Allah." He said, "And those who shorten."  

مالك:٢٠-١٩٦ – حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ

[Machine] Yahya was one of those who witnessed the Farewell Pilgrimage. He said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "O Allah, forgive the sacrificers." They said: "O Messenger of Allah, what about those who hold back and don't offer sacrifices?" He said: "O Allah, forgive the sacrificers." They said: "O Messenger of Allah, what about those who hold back and don't offer sacrifices?" He said: "O Allah, forgive the sacrificers." They said: "O Messenger of Allah, what about those who hold back and don't offer sacrifices?" He said on the third time: "And the holdbackers."  

أحمد:١٧٥٠٧ – حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ وَابْنُ أَبِي بُكَيْرٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ حُبْشِيِّ بْنِ جُنَادَةَ قَالَ

يَحْيَى وَكَانَ مِمَّنْ شَهِدَ حَجَّةَ الْوَدَاعِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلْمُحَلِّقِينَ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ؟ قَالَ اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلْمُحَلِّقِينَ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ؟ قَالَ اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلْمُحَلِّقِينَ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ؟ قَالَ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ

[Machine] "Men shaved their heads on the day of Hudaybiyyah, while others trimmed their hair. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'May Allah have mercy on those who shaved.' They said, 'O Messenger of Allah, what about those who trimmed?' He said, 'May Allah have mercy on those who shaved.' They said, 'O Messenger of Allah, what about those who trimmed?' He said, 'May Allah have mercy on those who shaved.' They said, 'O Messenger of Allah, what about those who trimmed?' He said, 'And those who trimmed.' They said, 'O Messenger of Allah, why is it that mercy is apparent for those who shaved?' He said, 'Because they did not express any doubt.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned away."  

أحمد:٣٣١١ – حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ قَالَ قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

O Allah, grant pardon to those who got their heads shaved. They (Companions of the Holy Prophet) said: Messenger of Allah, (what about those) who get their hair cut? ذِكْرُ دُعَاءِ الْمُصْطَفَى ﷺ بِالْمَغْفِرَةِ لِلْمُحَلِّقِينَ أَكْثَرَ مِمَّا دَعَا لِلْمُقَصِّرِينَ

ibnhibban:3880 – al-Ḥusayn b. Idrīs al-Anṣārī > Aḥmad b. Abū Bakr > Mālik > Nāfiʿ > Ibn ʿUmar

That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: O Allah, have mercy on those who have themselves shaved. The people said: Messenger of Allah, and those who have clipped their hair. He again said: O Allah, have mercy on those who have themselves shaved. The people said: Messenger of Allah, those who have clipped their hair. He said: and those who clip their hair. ابن حبّان:٣٨٨٠ – أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ
