One day the Prophet ﷺ said: Which of you had dream? A man said: It is I. I saw as though a scale descended from the sky. You and AbuBakr were weighed and you were heavier; AbuBakr and Umar were weighed and AbuBakr was heavier: Umar and Uthman were weighed and Umar was heavier; than the scale was taken up. we saw signs of dislike on the face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ مَنْ رَأَى مِنْكُمْ رُؤْيَا فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ أَنَا رَأَيْتُ كَأَنَّ مِيزَانًا نَزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَوُزِنْتَ أَنْتَ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ فَرُجِحْتَ أَنْتَ بِأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَوُزِنَ عُمَرُ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ فَرُجِحَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَوُزِنَ عُمَرُ وَعُثْمَانُ فَرُجِحَ عُمَرُ ثُمَّ رُفِعَ الْمِيزَانُ فَرَأَيْنَا الْكَرَاهِيَةَ فِي وَجْهِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ

"One day the Prophet ﷺ said: "'Who among you had a dream?' A man said: "I did. I saw as if a scale had descended from the Heavens in which you and Abu Bakr were weighed So you outweighed Abu Bakr. Abu Bkar and 'Umar were weighed, and Abu Bakr outweighed ('Umar). 'Umar and 'Uthman were weighed and 'Umar outweighed ('Uthman). Then the scale was raised up.' Then I saw dislike in the the face of Messenger of Allah ﷺ."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ مَنْ رَأَى مِنْكُمْ رُؤْيَا فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ أَنَا رَأَيْتُ كَأَنَّ مِيزَانًا نَزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَوُزِنْتَ أَنْتَ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ فَرَجَحْتَ أَنْتَ بِأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَوُزِنَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ فَرَجَحَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَوُزِنَ عُمَرُ وَعُثْمَانُ فَرَجَحَ عُمَرُ ثُمَّ رُفِعَ الْمِيزَانُ فَرَأَيْنَا الْكَرَاهِيَةَ فِي وَجْهِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ

[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ told me something he heard, saying: "The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was fond of righteous dreams and would inquire about them. One day, he asked: 'Who among you has seen a dream?' A man replied: 'I have, O Messenger of Allah, I saw as if scales descended from the sky and you were weighed against Abu Bakr, and you outweighed him. Then Abu Bakr was weighed against Umar and Abu Bakr outweighed Umar. Then Umar was weighed against Uthman and Umar outweighed Uthman. Then the scales were lifted.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pondered over it and said: 'The leadership comes after Prophethood, then Allah gives the kingdom to whomever He wills.' Affan said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was pleased with it, while Hammad said that it saddened him."

حَدِّثْنِي بِشَيْءٍ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُعْجِبُهُ الرُّؤْيَا الصَّالِحَةُ وَيَسْأَلُ عَنْهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ أَيُّكُمْ رَأَى رُؤْيَا؟ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ أَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ رَأَيْتُ كَأَنَّ مِيزَانًا دُلِّيَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَوُزِنْتَ أَنْتَ بِأَبِي بَكْرٍ فَرَجَحْتَ بِأَبِي بَكْرٍ ثُمَّ وُزِنَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ بِعُمَرَ فَرَجَحَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ بِعُمَرَ ثُمَّ وُزِنَ عُمَرُ بِعُثْمَانَ فَرَجَحَ عُمَرُ بِعُثْمَانَ ثُمَّ رُفِعَ الْمِيزَانُ فَاسْتَاءَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ خِلَافَةُ نُبُوَّةٍ ثُمَّ يُؤْتِي اللهُ الْمُلْكَ مَنْ يَشَاءُ قَالَ عَفَّانُ فِيهِ فَاسْتَآلَهَا وَقَالَ حَمَّادٌ فَسَاءَهُ ذَلِكَ

رَأَيْتُ كَأَنَّ مِيزَانًا دُلِّيَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَوُزِنْتُ بِأَبِي بَكْرٍ ثُمَّ وُزِنَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ بِعُمَرَ فَرَجَحَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ بِعُمَرَ ثُمَّ وُزِنَ بِعُثْمَانَ فَرَجَحَ عُمَرُ بِعُثْمَانَ ثُمَّ رُفِعَ الْمِيزَانُ فَاسْتَهَلَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ خِلَافَةُ نُبُوَّةٍ ثُمَّ يُؤْتِي اللَّهُ الْمُلْكَ مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ قَدْ رُوِيَ كَلَامُهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَوَاهُ أَبُو بَكْرَةَ وَسَفِينَةُ وَغَيْرُهُمَا وَلِأَبِي بَكْرَةَ طَرِيقٌ آخَرُ هَذَا الْإِسْنَادُ أَحْسَنُ مِنَ الْإِسْنَادِ الْآخَرِ الَّذِي يُرْوَى عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ وَهُوَ مَا رَوَاهُ أَشْعَثُ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ
