I came to Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! We are living in the land of the people of the Scripture and we take our meals in their utensils, and in the land there is game and I hunt with my bow and trained or untrained hounds; please tell me what is lawful for us of that." He said, "As for your saying that you are living in the land of the people of the Scripture and that you eat in their utensils, if you can get utensils other than theirs, do not eat in their utensils, but if you do not find (other than theirs), then wash their utensils and eat in them. As for your saying that you are in the land of game, if you hung something with your bow, and have mentioned Allah's Name while hunting, then you can eat (the game). And if you hunt something with your trained hound, and have mentioned Allah's Name on sending it for hunting then you can eat (the game). But if you hunt something with your untrained hound and you were able to slaughter it before its death, you can eat of it." (Using translation from Bukhārī 5488)

In that land there is plenty of game and I hunt the game with my bow and with my hound that is not trained and with my trained hound. Then what is lawful for me to eat?" [Machine] He heard Abu Thalabah saying, "I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, we are in a land of the People of the Book, and we eat with them in their utensils. And our land is a hunting land, and we hunt with bows and trained dogs, and also with dogs that are not trained. So, tell me what is permissible for me out of what is forbidden to us?' He said, 'Regarding what you mentioned about being in the land of the People of the Book and eating with their utensils, if you find other utensils, do not eat in them. But if you do not find others, then wash them and eat in them. And as for what you mentioned about hunting, whatever you hunt with your bow and you mention the name of Allah upon, then eat from it. And whatever is caught by your non-trained dog, eat from it as long as you catch up to it. And whatever your trained dog catches, eat from what it caught while it was with you and mention the name of Allah upon it.'"

bayhaqi:132Abū ʿAbdullāh Muḥammad b. ʿAbdullāh b. Muḥammad al-Ḥāfiẓ > Abū al-ʿAbbās al-Qāsim b. al-Qāsim al-Sayyārī Bimarw > ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. Ḥātim > ʿAlī b. al-Ḥasan Shaqīq > ʿAbdullāh > Ḥaywah b. Shurayḥ > Rabīʿah b. Yazīd al-Dimashqī > Abū Idrīs ʿĀʾidh Allāh > Abū Thaʿlabah al-Khushanī
