البيهقي:١٧٩١١ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْحَنَفِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ هُوَ ابْنُ يَزِيدَ الْهُذَلِيُّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ السَّائِبَ بْنَ يَزِيدَ يَقُولُ لَمَّا كَانَتِ الرَّمَادَةُ أَصَابَ النَّاسَ جُوعٌ شَدِيدٌ فَلَمَّا كَانَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ رَكِبَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ دَابَّةً لَهُ فَرَأَى فِي رَوْثِهَا شَعِيرًا فَقَالَ

وَاللهِ لَا أَرْكَبُهَا حَتَّى يَحْسُنَ حَالُ النَّاسِ
