[Machine] I heard Abu Uthman Al Nahdi say, "I visited Abu Hurairah seven times, and he, his wife, and his servant would stay up for three parts of the night. He would pray this (pointing), then wake this person up and they would pray, then wake this person up and they would pray." I said, "O Abu Hurairah, how do you fast?" He said, "As for me, I fast three days at the beginning of the month. If something occurs to me, like an illness, then I fast during the last part of the month." I also heard Abu Hurairah say, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ once divided some dates among his companions, and I received seven dates. One of them was wrinkled, and there was nothing in them that was more appealing to me than it. It satisfied my hunger."

I was a guest of Abu Huraira for seven days. Abu Huraira, his wife and his slave used to get up and remain awake for one-third of the night by turns. Each would offer the night prayer and then awaken the other. I heard Abu Huraira saying, "Messenger of Allah ﷺ distributed dates among his companions and my share was seven dates, one of which was a Hashafa (a date which dried on the tree before it was fully ripe).
