Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray on Khumra.

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي عَلَى الْخُمْرَةِ

The prayer of the Prophet ﷺ used to be of thirteen rakʿat, i.e. of the night prayer.

كَانَ صَلاَةُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ ثَلاَثَ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً يَعْنِي بِاللَّيْلِ

The Prophet ﷺ used to offer thirteen rakʿat of the night prayer and that included the witr and two rakʿat (Sunna) of the Fajr prayer.

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ثَلاَثَ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً مِنْهَا الْوِتْرُ وَرَكْعَتَا الْفَجْرِ

that he asked 'A'isha ؓ how many rak'ahs Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed at the forenoon prayer. She replied: Four rak'ahs, but sometimes more as he pleased.

أَنَّهَا سَأَلَتْ عَائِشَةَ ؓ كَمْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي صَلاَةَ الضُّحَى قَالَتْ أَرْبَعَ رَكَعَاتٍ وَيَزِيدُ مَا شَاءَ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to observe four rak'ahs in the forenoon prayer and he sometimes observed more as Allah pleased.

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي الضُّحَى أَرْبَعًا وَيَزِيدُ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to observe thirteen rak'ahs of the night prayer. Five out of them consisted of Witr, and he did not sit, but at the end (for salutation).

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ثَلاَثَ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً يُوتِرُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ بِخَمْسٍ لاَ يَجْلِسُ فِي شَىْءٍ إِلاَّ فِي آخِرِهَا

'A'isha reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray thirteen rak'ahs during the night including the two rak'ahs (Sunan) of the dawn prayer.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُصَلِّي ثَلاَثَ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً بِرَكْعَتَىِ الْفَجْرِ

'A'isha observed that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to observe prayer in the night and the last of his (night) prayer was Witr.

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ حَتَّى يَكُونَ آخِرَ صَلاَتِهِ الْوِتْرُ

Witr is a rak'ah at the end of the prayer.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْوِتْرُ رَكْعَةٌ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ

Witr is a rak'ah at the end of the night prayer.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ الْوِتْرُ رَكْعَةٌ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ

I heard Ibn 'Abbas saying that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ observed thirteen rak'ahs at night.

سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ثَلاَثَ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً

'A'isha reported that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up at night to pray, he began his prayer with two short rak'ahs.

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ لِيُصَلِّيَ افْتَتَحَ صَلاَتَهُ بِرَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Apostle ﷺ as saying When any one of you gets up at night, he should begin the prayer with two short rak'ahs.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا قَامَ أَحَدُكُمْ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَلْيَفْتَتِحْ صَلاَتَهُ بِرَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ

It was narrated from Maimunah that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray on a mat. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 738)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ «يُصَلِّي عَلَى الْخُمْرَةِ»

The Prophet ﷺ said: "Witr is one rak'ah at the end of the night." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1689)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ الْوَتْرُ رَكْعَةٌ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَمْسَحُ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ

The Messenger of Allah wiped over his leather socks and his head cover (i.e., over the Imamah). (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 561)

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَمْسَحُ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ وَالْخِمَارِ

'A'isha reported that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up at night to pray, he began his prayer with two short rak'ahs. (Using translation from Muslim 767)

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ يُصَلِّي افْتَتَحَ صَلَاتَهُ بِرَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform voluntary prayers called "Tahajjud" with nine rak'ahs. However, as he grew older and found it burdensome, he shortened it to seven rak'ahs.

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُوتِرُ بِتِسْعٍ فَلَمَّا أَسَنَّ وثَقُلَ أَوْتَرَ بِسَبْعٍ

[AI] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to pray thirteen units at night, with five as odd-numbered (witr) prayers. He would not sit except during the fifth unit before making the salutation (salam).

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً يُوتِرُ بِخَمْسٍ لَا يَجْلِسُ إِلَّا فِي الْخَامِسَةِ فَيُسَلِّمُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray while wearing a shawl, and some of it would be on me.

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي وَعَلَيْهِ مِرْطٌ وَعَلَيَّ بَعْضُهُ

[AI] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray the Asr prayer, while the sun was still shining in my room."

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي الْعَصْرَ وَإِنَّ الشَّمْسَ لَطَالِعَةٌ فِي حُجْرَتِي

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to accept the gift and reward for it.

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقْبَلُ الْهَدِيَّةَ وَيُثِيبُ عَلَيْهَا

[AI] I asked Aisha, "How many units of Dhuha prayer did the Prophet Muhammad, ﷺ , used to perform?" She replied, "Four units (rak'ahs), and the Prophet would increase as Allah willed."

سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ كَمْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي الضُّحَى؟ قَالَتْ أَرْبَعَ رَكَعَاتٍ وَيَزِيدُ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ ﷻ

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray nine rak'ahs at night." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1725)

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ تِسْعَ رَكَعَاتٍ

[AI] I asked Aisha, "How many units of dhuha prayer did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform?" She said, "Four units, and he would increase as Allah wills."

سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ كَمْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي الضُّحَى؟ قَالَتْ أَرْبَعَ رَكَعَاتٍ وَيَزِيدُ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ

[AI] She asked her, "Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray Duha four Rak'ahs?" She said, "Yes, four Rak'ahs, and more if Allah wills."

أَنَّهَا سَأَلَتْهَا أَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي الضُّحَى أَرْبَعًا؟ قَالَتْ نَعَمْ أَرْبَعًا وَيَزِيدُ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ

[AI] The translation of the passage is: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray while I stood beside him."

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي وَأَنَا بِإِزَائِهِ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ used to pray four units of the Duha prayer and would increase as Allah willed.

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي صَلَاةَ الضُّحَى أَرْبَعَ رَكَعَاتٍ وَيَزِيدُ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً سَأَلَتْ عَائِشَةَ هَلْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي الضُّحَى؟ قَالَ قَالَتْ نَعَمْ أَرْبَعًا وَيُزِيدُ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ

It was narrated from Maimunah that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray on a mat. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 738)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُصَلِّي عَلَى الْخُمْرَةِ

The Prophet ﷺ used to pray at night while I lay interposed between him and the Qibla like a corpse on the bier. (Using translation from Muslim 512a)

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي مِنَ الْلَيْلِ وَأَنَا مُعْتَرِضَةٌ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْقِبْلَةِ كَاعْتِرَاضِ الْجِنَازَةِ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said the afternoon prayer (at a time) when the (light) of the sun was there in my apartment. (Using translation from Muslim 611d)

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي الْعَصْرَ وَالشَّمْسُ وَاقِعَةٌ فِي حُجْرَتِي

The Prophet ﷺ used to pray thirteen rak'ahs during the night including the two rak'ahs of the dawn prayer. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1360)

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُصَلِّي ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً بِاللَّيْلِ مَعَ رَكْعَتَيِ الْفَجْرِ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ used to pray nine units of prayer at night. But when he became tired and exhausted, he prayed seven units.

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ تِسْعًا فَلَمَّا ثَقُلَ وَأَسَنَّ صَلَّى سَبْعًا

'A'isha observed that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to observe prayer in the night and the last of his (night) prayer was Witr. (Using translation from Muslim 740)

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ حَتَّى يَكُونَ آخِرَ صَلَاتِهِ الْوَتْرُ

"When the dawn appears, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would only pray two short Rak'ahs." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 583)

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا طَلَعَ الْفَجْرُ لَا يُصَلِّي إِلَّا رَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ

It was narrated from Maimunah that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray on a mat. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 738)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُصَلِّي عَلَى الْخُمْرَةِ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray on Khumra. (Using translation from Bukhārī 381)

«كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ثُمَّ يَنْصَرِفُ فَيَسْتَاكُ»

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not offer the taslim (salam) after the first two rakahs of the Witr prayer.

«كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَا يُسَلِّمُ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ مِنَ الْوِتْرِ»
